Chapter 372: 0372 faded_1
Daisy Wood didn’t make a sound, and Lucy Wood didn’t say a word on the side either.
Once they arrived inside the ward at the hospital, they saw Carol Sean lying there, looking at the ceiling with blank eyes, silent.
Seeing Carol Sean, Daniel Wood’s eyes still brimmed with hot tears, "Mom!"
His voice was filled with guilt, as if he were the perfect filial son.
Carol Sean, hearing Daniel Wood’s voice, did show some reaction, turning her head and upon seeing Daniel, could not stop her tears from falling, "Son, you’ve come!"
She was only confused at times; most of the time, she was quite lucid.
She recognized people.
It’s just that after a period of not seeing her, gone was her usual vigorous appearance, visibly haggard.
That’s the way it is with elderly people—their bodies are fragile, a bit of agitation, and they might not pull through.
Lucy Wood stood aside, not speaking either, and Daisy hesitated before looking towards Lucy, only to hear Lucy whisper softly, "And mom?"
"Mom is with Grandpa."
David Wood was staying in the best ward, under the care of specialists, and Carol Sean was in a regular VIP ward, which was also top-notch, but incomparable.
Olivia Johnson herself despised Carol Sean who, when confused, would curse people out harshly, and Olivia had no interest in staying there to take the abuse.
She’d rather go take care of the old man—at least the Wood Family may have declined, but David Wood’s personal wealth was still substantial.
Currying favor with the old man still offered some opportunity.
Upon hearing this, Lucy let out a cold laugh.
She didn’t take off her sunglasses, which shone bright; Carol Sean was not blind, and after crying with her son for two minutes, as soon as she caught sight of Lucy, her eyes widened, "You... you..."
Her face, so pale and worn, stared at Lucy with bulging eyes, which was still quite startling.
Lucy looked at Carol Sean and curved her lips slightly, softly calling out, "Grandma."
"You... you little slut!"
Hearing Lucy’s call, Carol Sean was unmoved, "You still have the face to come here, it’s all your fault our Wood Family is in this state, if you hadn’t chased after that jinx, none of this would have happened..."
She was furious and started cursing. Initially, she cursed Lucy, but then she became confused and couldn’t stop cursing others in the Wood Family.
She cursed Olivia Johnson, cursed Lucy, and occasionally Daisy would get a few words, but she never heard a bad word about any male member of the Wood Family from her.
Over and over she said that Edward’s plight was all Lucy’s fault.
Seeing Carol Sean still unrepentant on her deathbed, Lucy felt repulsed, but said nothing, just sitting aside, indifferent, letting her curse.
Daniel Wood, looking somewhat embarrassed, tried to pacify Carol Sean to no avail, and it was Lucy who finally said, "Looking at her like this, she doesn’t seem like she’s about to die."
Carol Sean, whether she understood or not, her face changed and the cursing got uglier.
Daniel Wood quickly scolded Lucy, "Stop talking!"
Daisy couldn’t bear to listen anymore, and called Lucy to leave; she took Lucy to see Olivia Johnson and David Wood.
After all, since she was already here, she couldn’t just not see David Wood and the others.
Lucy didn’t refuse to go.
Some things always need a definitive resolution.
They can’t be completely resolved by avoidance.
She went to David Wood’s ward, and unlike Carol Sean, David Wood was well-fed, well-hydrated, well-cared for, and looked reasonably healthy, not at all like someone who had recently suffered a brain hemorrhage.
Only when he saw Lucy did the smile in his eyes fade a bit.
