Chapter 331: 0331 Patent fee, starting a company ah_1
Lucy Wood asked worriedly, "He hasn’t contacted you, has he?"
Ellen Young replied with a cool voice, "No, they can’t get in touch anymore."
The Internet is still buzzing about the scandal, and if Ellen Young’s reputation were damaged because of this, some people would probably want to strangle the Wood Family.
Daniel Wood thought that the higher-ups would not give him another chance either.
Now his calls can’t get through, and with Clinton White and Ruffy Smith closing in, it probably won’t be long before he has to pack up his belongings and reunite with his family abroad.
Lucy Wood sneered, "He even tried begging me, but what could I do?"
He wanted to play the loving father-daughter card, but Lucy Wood was impervious to such tactics now. She still held recordings of Daniel Wood, giving him no excuse to slander her. He had to deal with the mess by himself and also face the insults from David Wood over the phone from abroad.
Daisy Wood had been missing for a few days, but after David Wood regained consciousness, she returned to his bedside to faithfully watch over him, reporting every word that Edward Wood had said that day.
David Wood was so infuriated by this that he almost passed out again.
No matter how much he loved his grandson, when he realized his grandson was not looking forward to his recovery and refused to visit him, his affection would turn cold due to his nature.
Since Edward was out of reach in the drug rehabilitation center, David Wood directed his anger at Daniel Wood over the phone instead.
Daniel Wood was also rapidly greying under the pressure, dealing with Olivia Johnson’s grievous calls from time to time.
In reality, Ellen Young and Lucy Wood hadn’t deployed any schemes; everything was a consequence of Edward Wood’s own doing. And yet, their family still treated the son as if he were a treasure.
From the beginning, Ellen Young never harbored any thoughts of taking revenge on the Wood Family. They were no obstacle to her and were merely buzzing around like flies. Now, for the sake of their fly-like son, they indeed paid the price they deserved.
In fact, given the extent to which they spoiled him, Edward Wood would probably run the Wood Family into the ground even faster once he took over. It was just a matter of time.
All that had happened merely accelerated the process.
Thinking of the Wood Family’s current predicaments and their inability to return from abroad, Lucy Wood realized she wouldn’t need to emigrate. She felt exhilarated deep down, reaffirming that her past decision was the right one. She then said, "The program’s production team contacted me, saying that due to your identity issue, they want to offer you a higher price."
The initial five million now seemed like a joke.
The production team was now aware of Ellen Young’s capabilities and was panicked, knowing her identity and that her first public appearance was on their show—a tremendous honor. Even if she were to breach the contract, they wouldn’t dare to complain; they just hoped to offer more money to ensure her continued participation.
Everyone knew that the next four episodes featuring Ellen Young’s team would certainly smash the ratings.
"No need."
Ellen Young indeed looked down upon such petty cash and said, "Let’s stick to the contract. Since I’ve signed it, I won’t break it."
Hearing this response, Lucy Wood couldn’t help but grow curious, "Ellen, I’ve been meaning to ask you, for a scientist like you, in what way... do you earn your money?"
Felicia Frost had guessed Ellen Young’s connection with Wanton but didn’t tell Lucy Wood.
Without evidence, she feared that this woman would become too inflated without any sense of reality.
So Lucy Wood was left guessing as to how Ellen Young made her money.
Ellen Young replied with amusement, "Patent fees, running a company, you know."
