Chapter 330: 0330 Woke up_1
The village chief’s involvement in this matter wasn’t without reason.
He thought of the girl as a descendant of Hordy Young’s former fiancée and felt sympathy for her.
Widow Zach was pale and thin, not extremely beautiful, but still fairly elegant and pleasant within the village.
She seemed to have a good temperament, and when she came to see Lily, she couldn’t hide her excitement, "Ellen is really going to let me take care of her?"
"What are you talking about? She is not Ellen’s child."
The village chief smacked his lips, "After all, Ellen is too busy, and since she isn’t married, it isn’t suitable for her to take care of children. If you think it’s proper, I can help with the child’s household registration."
Widow Zach nodded happily, "That would be great."
She noticed that although Lily didn’t have a delicate appearance, there was a spirited look between her eyes, although her facial expressions were a bit stubborn.
Widow Zach was also somewhat worried, "I will treat her well."
She had considered adopting a child herself, but these days, adoption was too troublesome, and people outside always said an adopted child wouldn’t grow attached to you.
But at her age, she had no children, and even her mother-in-law had encouraged her to remarry.
Now that she had Lily, although the village chief had explained the circumstances, Widow Zach still trusted him quite a bit.
Lily looked towards Widow Zach, and seeing her kind face, felt a bit hesitant. Meanwhile, someone asked, "Chief, why hand her over to Widow Zach to manage?"
The village chief took a puff of his cigarette and said, "Ellen doesn’t have the time, and the child is none of Ellen’s business anyway."
Someone suddenly asked, "What about her biological father?"
Although it was somewhat inappropriate to bring it up in front of the child, people still asked.
The village chief paused, then said, "Ellen has mentioned she’s looking into it."
As for the child, nobody had much to say, and soon Widow Zach took her home.
Lily didn’t resist much and just followed Widow Zach.
The village chief went to inform Ellen, "Widow Zach has agreed to take the child. Widow Zach’s character is trustworthy; she has taken care of her own mother-in-law for many years without remarrying, which was tough. Now she can finally get her wish. My only concern is, if the child’s real parents haven’t been found, do you think there could be any issues in the future?"
The chief was mainly worried because the Wood Family was capable of shameless acts because of Ellen’s situation.
If one day Lily’s real father came looking for her, things could get messy.
"Don’t worry, that won’t happen," Ellen responded.
Ellen was determined to make the responsible party accountable; she couldn’t just watch as the people on the other side abandoned the child here.
If they were unwilling to take responsibility, they had to ensure that certain things wouldn’t happen again.
She continued busying herself with her own affairs when she received a call from Lucy Wood, "Ellen, grandpa woke up—my grandpa, that is."
Knowing that Ellen might not be willing to acknowledge the relationship, Lucy corrected herself.
Nevertheless, he was indeed her grandfather.
Ellen smiled, "Is that so?"
"After he woke up, he was furious, almost suffocated from anger again," Lucy said, unsure whether to laugh or feel sad, "He realized that transferring him was wrong and even scolded me. However, when I told him it saved his life, he stopped arguing. Isn’t that funny?"
The Wood Family might be in trouble, but as long as he was alive, there was a chance.
It was only a problem for the time being.
Ellen chuckled, "Everyone’s so realistic. Is Daniel Wood still in the country?"
"He’s still here. There’s a whole mess over at the Wood Family’s side."
