Chapter 227: 0227 Eat and Roll Quickly_1
But he felt that he still retained a sliver of reason, preventing him from passing out.
The atmosphere suddenly became awkward.
He looked at Ruffy Smith, his body trembling like a sieve.
"Mr. Wood, please, don’t be like this. People who don’t know any better might think I’ve done something to you."
The man still laughed with a particularly wanton and nasty sneer, "Shall we call it a day then?"
He knew that Ruffy Smith was lying.
Ellen Young must be here, but despite her absence, Ruffy Smith’s threat was now clear as day.
He wanted Ellen Young to return to the Wood Family, but setting aside the chances of success, his grandson was still abroad.
Even though he had arranged for protection, for someone like Ruffy Smith, harming Edward Wood would be all too easy.
The muscles on his cheek trembled non-stop, making one wonder if he was about to faint from the intensity of his emotions.
Yet, he just glared at Ruffy Smith with hatred.
Knowing that anything he said now would be too late.
No matter what, the Wood Family couldn’t compare to a behemoth like the Smith Family.
He could only reenter his car with unwilling resignation.
As Chairman Wood, he felt worn out for the first time.
Seeing him ready to leave, Ruffy Smith let out a friendly laugh, "Take care, Mr. Wood."
David Wood’s body shook, seething with rage but unable to voice it; he signaled the driver to turn around and leave.
When David Wood left, Damien Frost and his group all sighed in relief.
After all, they really feared that David Wood would do something shameless to threaten Miss Young.
Once David Wood had left, the sarcastic smile in Ruffy Smith’s eyes remained unchanged as he turned and headed back to Ellen Young’s home.
When he returned, Geoffrey Hann showed a hint of curiosity, "Brother Ruffy, what were you up to just now?"
He had almost finished eating.
Ruffy Smith said, "Nothing much."
He didn’t plan to elaborate upon his return since Ellen Young had already received Damien Frost’s message.
Ruffy Smith had dealt with David Wood.
Busy with her own career and research, she was not oblivious to David Wood’s troublesome situation.
Even Clinton White had spoken privately about this issue. Now that Ruffy Smith had stood up for her, she didn’t take it lightly.
With a calm gaze, she looked at Ruffy Smith and said, "Thank you."
He had helped her, and Ellen Young wasn’t about to say that she could have handled it herself and that Ruffy Smith’s actions were unnecessary.
Ruffy Smith only nodded, sat down without resuming his meal, and scoffed, "Even now, all he cares about is his grandson, that good-for-nothing. He doesn’t know on whom to place such an obvious bet. The Wood clan will only get this far in his lifetime."
Ellen responded, "Even if he bet correctly, it would depend on whether anyone would join him in that gamble."
Her relationship with the Wood Family, ever since they discarded her, had lost any chance of reconciliation.
Geoffrey was puzzled, "Professor, Brother Ruffy, what are you talking about?"
Ruffy Smith said, "Eat your food. When you’re done, get lost."
Geoffrey was speechless.
Right in front of the professor, you still bully me!!
He felt slightly defiant and considered eating more slowly, noticing that Ruffy Smith had stopped eating since his return.
Probably because he disliked Geoffrey.
As the menace in Ruffy Smith’s eyes intensified, Geoffrey eventually put down his utensils, grudgingly bidding farewell to Ellen, "Professor Young, I’m leaving now; I really enjoyed your birthday celebration today."
Ellen responded indifferently, "As long as you enjoyed it."
Geoffrey was speechless.
It was all Ruffy Smith’s fault. He had wanted to foster a relationship with Professor Young—a teacher-student bond.
