Chapter 226: 0226 I do not accept fraudsters_1
Damien Frost’s gaze fell on the extremely hostile Ruffy Smith, and he murmured, "Ruffy Smith is actually the most fitting, and he’s the one who’s shouldered it for Miss Young."
His eyes held a complexity, and then he smiled, "He’s really been true to Miss Young."
With Ruffy Smith forcing David Wood to confront the issue in this manner, outsiders would only heap the blame on him.
From a conventional standpoint, the Wood Family could now only be seen as sniveling, incapable of causing any real harm to Ellen. If Ellen were to confront the Wood Family directly and corner them, she indeed could ensure they’d never trouble her again. But how would others perceive it?
Even if Ellen didn’t care, some things weren’t so simple.
Others wouldn’t understand what Ellen was truly thinking; they would only consider the past as bygone, and Ellen, now successful and at the pinnacle of the world, launching an attack against her own family would seem too heartless.
Where there were people taking Ellen’s side, there would also be those on the other side, always whispering behind the scenes.
As long as one is part of this complex society, one has to face certain things.
It’s different when Ruffy Smith takes action. Known for his profligate ways, others will only criticize him as before for being indiscreet and not considering Ellen’s feelings, effectively taking the blame upon himself.
Whether he suffers or not is another matter, but at least in this case, he doesn’t make things difficult for Ellen. Damien had to admit he was starting to see Ruffy differently.
In fact, everyone knew that if Ruffy didn’t like Ellen, he wouldn’t be involved at all.
Previously, Damien always felt that Ruffy wasn’t a good match for Ellen. But now he realized that whether they were suited for each other was not for them to decide.
Some things are naturally subject to change.
If Ruffy had a personal vendetta, it would be easy to say that Ellen wasn’t obligated to help. The Wood Family had offended Ruffy, not her. What did it have to do with her?
The members of the Special Force Team nodded in realization, "Who would have thought that Ruffy actually has a sense of responsibility—though it doesn’t change the fact that he has ulterior motives towards Miss Young."
David Wood couldn’t understand why Ruffy would target their Wood Family to such an extent. He found it quite unreasonable.
After all, Ellen was his own granddaughter. Even if he was doing it for Ellen, they were still her biological family. If this incident led to a falling out between Ellen and him in the future, what then?
"Young Master Smith, don’t you think you’re being a bit too harsh?"
Feeling indignant, David Wood couldn’t help himself, "At my advanced age, is this how you threaten me?"
"Threaten?"
Ruffy Smith heard what sounded like fantasy to him, his tone full of amusement, "Mr. Wood, are you not overestimating yourself? What makes you think the Wood Family is something I need to threaten?"
"You!"
David Wood had never faced such a great insult in his life, yet what Ruffy said was the truth.
The Wood Family really was nothing compared to the Smith Family, not even a piece of garlic.
His face turned beet red and Ruffy casually remarked, "Your grandson has just gone abroad. I wonder if he’s having a good time out there. If you don’t keep an eye on him and he picks up some bad habits, like drug use for instance, then what will you do? He is your only grandson, would it not be a loss?"
David Wood’s face turned ashen, his body shaking, "You... you..."
Seeing him looking like he was about to pass out, Ruffy stepped back and raised his hand, arching an eyebrow, "Mr. Wood, please don’t faint and claim I did something to you. I won’t accept being framed for that."
"You!"
David Wood trembled with anger, unable to speak, as if about to have a stroke and faint.
