Chapter 198: 0198 Difficult to Manage_1
David Wood immediately demanded Ellen Young’s return to the Wood Family.
Upon hearing this, Ellen let out a faint laugh, "The way you speak, someone who doesn’t know any better might actually think I have some relation to your family."
David’s tone wasn’t like the other members of the Wood family; on the contrary, it was quite calm. "You are still my granddaughter, Ellen. A fallen leaf returns to its roots. You’ve been adrift for over twenty years, don’t you intend to return to the Wood Family? If you come back, I will teach you how to manage our family’s affairs. You could have a much better future than staying in that countryside. You and your sister can continue to record your program; Grandpa won’t stop you."
Ellen listened patiently until he finished, then chuckled softly, "Do you want to know what my relationship with Ruffy Smith is?"
Such straightforwardness momentarily left David speechless.
"There’s no need for you to speculate. Ruffy Smith and I do know each other, but my relationship with him doesn’t extend to the Wood Family. To me, I have no connection with the Wood Family at all, Mr. Wood, you should understand this," she said, her voice flat and indifferent, simply stating a fact.
She laughed again, "The fact that your grandson offended Ruffy Smith doesn’t involve me. You don’t have to cling to the hope of getting in his good graces through me. He won’t care about that. The reason I took your call was to make it clear to you that there is no relationship between us, and I won’t be answering calls from the Wood Family again."
David felt a slight anger at her icy words, "I know you’re bitter. You’re just angry about what your parents did. They were foolish, but you’re still a member of the Wood Family. They gave you life; that’s a fact. You can’t be so unfilial."
"Unfilial?" Ellen cast her gaze downward, "If by being kind you mean being born only to be given away, and then sold by that person halfway, nearly dying on the street, then I really don’t know what to say. I only have one family member, my grandfather Hordy Young, and he is already deceased. You should be clear about that, Mr. Wood. I can’t be bothered to listen to your nonsense anymore. I’m only going to advise you one more time, it’s best not to do anything unnecessary, this is my last bit of patience."
"Out of respect for you as an elder, you may hang up first."
David paused, "You...!"
Ellen interjected, "It seems you don’t want to hang up, so I’ll do it first."
After saying that, she promptly hung up the phone.
Hearing the disconnected tone on the line, David’s face darkened, and he didn’t call back.
How did Ellen know about the events of the past?
She was just an infant back then, completely unaware of anything, yet she knew these secrets.
He was well aware of the person who had come to extort the Wood Family, but other than giving them money, they hadn’t found a better way to deal with it.
The matter of Ellen was indeed a ticking time bomb. If the truth of her abandonment came out, it would affect the Wood Family.
It was also the fault of that useless son and daughter-in-law, who never considered the ramifications of their actions.
One daughter is raised, two daughters are raised; the Wood Family wasn’t too poor to afford that, yet they chose to give one away.
Thinking this, David’s brows furrowed with animosity.
The key was the inexplicable Ruffy Smith. Since he knew Ellen, David was reluctant to cut ties with her, yet he didn’t dare do anything more.
Still, it was quite troublesome.
