Chapter 117: 0117 He is willing to fight for _1

Mrs. Frost was infuriated by him, but there was nothing she could do.

She could only glare at him as he took care of himself, returning to his own room and, not long after, leaving with some of his belongings.

The time he spent at home was so limited; normally they couldn’t even make a call without permission, and this time he almost started an argument just after coming back, leaving Mrs. Frost filled with worry.

After discussing work matters with Taylor Smith, Ellen Young left.

She was going to see Clinton White first, and Ruffy Smith drove her there.

Throughout the entire meeting with Taylor Smith, they only talked about work, no idle chatter at all. While Ruffy Smith drove her, he caught a glimpse of her hugging her cellphone, reading a comic, and he said, "Aren’t you pretty comfortable now? Sometimes, relaxing and cultivating your sentiments is good. You don’t have to be so tense all the time. You’re not a machine; even you can get tired."

Ellen Young looked up and glanced at him, "Are you trying to feed me some chicken soup for the soul now?"

Ruffy Smith, with one hand on the steering wheel and the other propping up the window, couldn’t help but laugh upon hearing this, laughing unrestrainedly, "If you think it is, then it is."

Ellen Young closed her cellphone, "I’m not tense, and I’m not tired."

Her personality was such that she did what she liked and wouldn’t push herself into excessive fatigue.

Even if sometimes she would stay up all night to get data for an experiment, she enjoyed it.

She never felt tired when it came to things she was interested in.

Physical fatigue and mental fatigue were two different things.

Ruffy Smith curled his lips, "Alright."

"Cold and emotionless indeed, like an experimental robot bereft of feelings."

Ellen Young looked out the window, her thoughts wandering to her grandfather again.

Having a too good memory sometimes wasn’t a good thing. Since she was young, she had been engrossed in study and scientific research, remembering mostly data, which was fine.

But when her grandfather died and she got the news, the night she knelt in front of the mourning hall, she saw the image of her grandfather’s aged and weathered face.

She hadn’t spent much time with the old man, but her grandfather was the most profound presence in her memory.

There was something she had never told anyone: occasionally, after conducting an experiment, no matter how boundless the knowledge filling her mind was, when she thought of her grandfather, she would feel a hint of emptiness in her life.

Her agreement to record the program for Lucy Wood was partly due to a moment of confusion, simply because she couldn’t get her grandfather’s aging face out of her mind.

Of course, she also knew about Lucy Wood’s background.

If Lucy Wood and the Wood Family were of the same disposition, she wouldn’t put out a helping hand, no matter what happened to Lucy Wood.

If someone asked if geniuses understood everything or if there was something they didn’t understand,

Of course, the answer would be that there are things they don’t understand.

Human emotions, despite countless scientific research attempting to explain them, remain the most elusive.

That included Ellen Young.

Ruffy Smith saw Ellen Young looking out of the window, seemingly lost in thought, so he didn’t speak up to interrupt her.

The wind outside was a bit cold, so he raised the window a bit more, enough to avoid stuffiness and to prevent the wind from hitting her face.

In the rearview mirror, he could see several low-key black business cars following behind them, all there to protect Ellen Young.

Ruffy Smith thought that it was lucky he was mentally strong. If it were someone else, even a private meeting with Ellen Young would be subject to countless people’s surveillance—a significant psychological test for anyone.

Thinking this, Ruffy Smith felt yet again that his thick skin allowed him to be unconcerned.

So indeed, he was the best match for Ellen Young.

Regardless of whether he and Ellen Young ended up together, it was not important. What was important was that he liked Ellen Young, and he was willing to fight for her.
