Becoming a Russian Oligarch After Rebirth -
Chapter 174: Give Me a Break_1
Chapter 174: Chapter 174: Give Me a Break_1
It was almost midnight by that time. The streetlight at the entrance of the police station seemed to be broken, shrouded in darkness, with only the faint light of a distant street lamp shining over.
A cold wind blew past, causing the three of them to involuntarily shudder, bundling up their coats tighter.
"Where the bloody hell can we get a cab at this hour; not a soul in sight," grumbled Lokayev.
"Better call and have some of our crew come get us. Those idiots should’ve had a car ready for us, dumbasses!" retorted his cousin discontentedly.
Before he could even reach for his phone, two cars approached one after another.
Both vehicles were beat-up old Ladas, a common black taxi on the streets.
The three of them quickly stretched their arms out and gave a thumbs-up, trying to hail a taxi.
Getting a taxi home would be ideal; they didn’t want to wait for their crew to come and pick them up.
The cars seemed to notice their attempt to hitch a ride and, with a screech of brakes, stopped right in front of them.
Lokayev chuckled, "Ha, this is business competition, isn’t it? Why are both cars stopping? Doesn’t the driver in the back know the rules?"
Before his cousin and Aiermal could respond, all three had their eyes wide open, sensing that something was off.
That’s because several burly men leaped out of both cars at once.
What was even more shocking was that all of them had black hoods over their heads!
Lokayev and his mates were about to run when they saw the men lifting their weapons. They obediently stood still and raised their hands.
Because every one of those men was cradling a genuine AK74!
The ominous barrel of the gun was aimed right at them...
The burly men walked over in a few strides, two men holding one person, ordering in a low voice, "Get in the car!"
They shoved Lokayev and his companions into the beat-up Ladas.
While being stuffed into the car, Lokayev glanced back at the station’s entrance, holding on to a glimmer of hope that the police inside might notice something wrong and come to their rescue.
Unfortunately, to his despair, the station’s heavy iron door was firmly closed, not a soul in sight...
......
From the moment Lokayev and his companions left the police station to the time the two beat-up Ladas pulled up and they were forced into the car, barely a minute had passed.
There were no streetlights here, no security cameras, and no passersby...
The two Ladas started and sped off, heading towards the city’s outskirts.
Meanwhile, in the car, Lokayev and his mates had their mouths gagged with torn fabric, and their heads covered with black cloth.
At this point, they were no longer worried about their hunger; their priority concern was who these people were and what they wanted!
They couldn’t be planning...
On killing the three of them, could they?
At this thought, both his cousin and Aiermal shivered.
But Lokayev was not as frightened as they were. He had been through many ups and downs, but always managed to come out unscathed.
He believed this time would be no exception!
These people were probably sent by that guy Mikhail to scare him. Lokayev really didn’t believe Mikhail would dare follow through on his threats!
...
No one in the car spoke, only heavy breathing and the roar of the car’s engine could be heard.
Because their eyes were covered, Lokayev and the others had no idea where they were being taken. After about half an hour, the car seemed to go off-road as it began to jostle.
About ten minutes later, the cars stopped and Lokayev and his companions were roughly shoved out of the car.
Then, someone lifted them up and pulled off the black cloth from their heads.
The piercing car light made it hard for Lokayev and his friends to see clearly for a while.
They seemed to be on the outskirts of the forest, and not far in front was an unknown, rushing river. They were standing right by the river.
Aside from the two Ladas, there was a dark, off-road vehicle parked not too far away. Its lights were the source of the bright glare.
There were two people standing in front of the vehicle, but due to the blinding light, Lokayev couldn’t quite make out who they were.
He shook his head, trying to take in his surroundings when a strong man behind him shoved him forward a few steps closer to the black SUV.
As he got closer, Lokayev recognized the two people standing there. He exclaimed, "Mikhail!"
The men standing there were none other than Wang Ye and Anton!
Wang Ye was smoking a cigarette, the ember glowing in the darkness...
Upon seeing Lokayev and his companions being escorted over, Wang Ye casually applauded, smiling, "Well if it isn’t our Lokayev. Just one day without seeing you, and you’re already in such a sorry state."
Lokayev straightened up defiantly, sneering, "Huh, you’re trying to scare me? Let me tell you, I was playing this game when you were probably still mucking about in kindergarten! If you’ve got the guts, just shoot me! The question is, do you dare to? I bet you’ve never even killed a chicken before, ha!"
His cousin and Aiermal didn’t share his bravado. Whether it was from hunger, cold, or fear, their legs were shaking...
Wang Ye wasn’t angry, he exhaled a puff of smoke leisurely before saying, "Tell me, who sent you to stir up trouble at the New Sun Market, was it Maylov?"
"Ha, why should I tell you? Maybe if you beg me, I might just tell you. Why don’t you give it a shot?" Lokayev retorted with an arrogant smirk.
Without waiting for a response, Wang Ye posed another question, "Is it someone from Lyublino?"
Lokayev was stunned for a moment, then quickly retorted, "Get on your knees and beg me. If not, not only will I not tell you who’s behind this, I’ll continue to torch your market. Any merchant daring to set up shop there will have their store set ablaze!"
Wang Ye had a rough guess about the situation and didn’t feel like dragging on the conversation with this imbecile.
He waved his hand, and Anton stepped forward, saying in a low voice, "Push them over!"
Immediately, three hooded men pushed Lokayev and his companions forward. A few more steps, and they would be at the edge of the river with raging murky currents...
......
Anton stepped forward, unholstering a dagger from his waist while walking.
Lokayev and his companions stood there, the river up ahead, Wang Ye and the others behind them, their hands still tied.
Hearing the footsteps behind him, even the normally unflinching Lokayev felt a tinge of fear. He blustered, "What is it? Are you getting real? Then make it quick for me!"
Anton ignored him, walking straight to Aiermal. He reached out and cut the ropes binding his hands.
Aiermal looked surprised as he turned, just about to say something when he saw a dark gun being handed to him...
