Chapter 173: Chapter 173 Something Seems Amiss_1

When Wang Ye arrived at the New Sun Market, it was already noon.

As soon as he entered his office, Ivan knocked on the door and walked in.

"President, I heard a lot has happened these past two days, is there anything I can help with?" He asked with concern.

Wang Ye smiled and waved his hand, "No need, you can just concentrate on your own projects. This trivial matter will be resolved soon."

Wang Ye understood that if he let Ivan get involved, it would mean drawing on resources from Khodorkovsky’s side.

Whether it is high-ranking official resources or others, it may solve the problem, but that was not what he wanted.

Wang Ye wanted to solve this on his own. Men, after all, should face storms on their own!

Moreover, this matter wasn’t even a "storm", if he needed Khodorkovsky to help "clean up the mess" for such a small problem, his capability would be questioned.

Seeing Wang Ye so firm, Ivan stopped pressing on this matter, and started to report on his work instead.

In the past few days, he had managed to break through in all aspects. Now, any merchant in the New Sun Market could delegate to the logistics company of the New Sun Group for customs clearance and transportation.

Compared to the rent and management fees, the profit from customs clearance logistics would be far greater!

This would also be a significant source of revenue for the company in the future.

After hearing this, Wang Ye nodded in satisfaction and said with a smile, "You’ve worked hard. Fortunately, I have you. I wouldn’t know where to start if it were up to me, haha."

This was more than just modesty; there really are aspects of work that require professional expertise.

For things like processing procedures and managing relations, Ivan was the only one who could handle them, neither Wang Ye nor Big Head Kong were up to the task.

But for Khodorkovsky sending Ivan over, this was what he was meant to do.

.........

While Wang Ye was enjoying his conversation, on the other side, Lokayev and his group in the police station’s cell were not having quite as much fun.

It had been almost a day and a night since they were locked up last night, the three of them had been confined in the cell the entire time.

Lokayev was slightly surprised that nobody came to "rough them up". He had mentally prepared himself, thinking that the three of them would be severely beaten.

After all, wasn’t the whole point of Mikhail’s intervention to lock them up just to vent his anger?

If not, then what was the point of keeping them in for a day? Other than stirring up conflict between the two sides, Lokayev couldn’t see any other purpose for their confinement.

However, nothing happened...

Nobody from the police department came to interrogate them, they were left as if they had been "forgotten".

This would usually be a good thing, but now almost twenty-four hours had gone by and nobody had provided them with food. Lokayev and his group were starving!

In the morning, unable to bear the hunger any longer, Lokayev had to bang on the bars and shout for a while before someone finally tossed in a few bottles of mineral water and a loaf of black bread...

Anyway, they knew they could leave in the evening, so the three of them put up with it.

A bit of hardship was bearable since it was only for a day and they hadn’t been physically tortured, they consider themself lucky!

They each broke a piece of the dry and hard black bread and washed it down with mineral water to keep themselves going.

"Brother, when we get out tonight, I want to eat BBQ!" Lokayev’s cousin said while swallowing his black bread.

"Heh heh, look at you! Tonight when we get out, I’ll treat you to a feast." Lokayev chuckled.

However, Aiermal remained silent the whole time, which struck Lokayev as odd.

"What are you thinking about?" He asked.

"Boss, don’t you think it’s strange? If Mikhail made Novich arrest me and used the opportunity to give us a good beating, then I would find that normal. But, nothing happened and that gives me an uneasy feeling." Aiermal said with a furrowed brow.

Lokayev nonchalantly responded, "Maybe Novich didn’t want to offend us. Mikhail may have wanted to seize the opportunity to give us a hard time, but the problem is, Novich and his people don’t dare. We all operate in the same area, and if they piss us off too much, they’ll know what the consequences will be!"

His cousin immediately boasted, "That must be the reason! The Russians are all cowards. They bully the weak and fear the strong! Our reputation as Car City people precedes us, typical Russians wouldn’t dare to mess with us. But locking us up for a day, they’ve picked a fight! When we get out, I’ll make sure that Mikhail is begging for forgiveness on his knees in front of me!"

Lokayev laughed, "Be humble! You should be humble. We’ve been cordial with Novich, there’s no reason for anyone to fear anyone. But what you said about making that whelp Mikhail kneel in front of us and apologise, that’s a good idea, haha."

Listening to the two brothers’ discussion, Aiermal shook his head, sighing inwardly.

He felt that this event, from start to finish, was full of strangeness...

But exactly what was off, he couldn’t put his finger on it.

.........

In a blink, it was evening.

Based on the time from their arrest yesterday, it was almost 24 hours, they should be released soon.

However, after waiting for quite some time, no one came to open the cell door for them.

At this point, Lokayev became agitated. He banged on the iron bars for a while and shouted, "Is anyone there? Is everyone dead! Let me out!"

After shouting till his voice was hoarse, finally, a policeman sauntered over, "What are you yelling about! Why are you so anxious to get out, are you rushing to be reincarnated or something?"

As he was speaking, he took out the key and unlocked the cell door, "Come out, follow me to complete some procedures. After you’ve collected your belongings, you can leave."

Lokayev and his group exited the cell and followed the cop to complete the necessary procedures.

However, to their dismay, perhaps due to the late hour, there weren’t many people in the police station. The items that had been confiscated when they were locked up including cell phones, wallets, keys, etc., were nowhere to be found after a long search.

It was nearly 11 o’clock in the evening. After a whole day of not eating much, Lokayev and his group were so hungry they felt weak.

"Can you find our things or not! I mean, how are you guys working? Isn’t there someone responsible for storing the items?" Lokayev asked with exasperation.

As the policeman rummaged around, he suddenly said, "Found it, found it, you can sign here, take your things, and leave."

After reclaiming their respective items and signing off, the three staggered out of the police station.

Not because they were good friends, but because they were so hungry that their legs were weak...

As soon as they stepped out of the police station, they heard a loud crash as the iron door was locked behind them.

Lokayev was amused, "This son of a b**ch couldn’t wait to close the door. Is he afraid we’ll return and make trouble for him? Or is he in a hurry to take a nap in his office?"
