Chapter 92: Frustrated Spouses

Beau decided to stop thinking about his feelings and simply enjoy the time he had with Astri and her cubs. Her cubs ended up liking him and they always play with him in the control room. Since Astri’s spouses noticed that Beau doesn’t make any move on Astri, they’re less worried.

After several weeks of traveling, Astri’s spouses are very sensitive and fight each other easily, making things hard for Astri. She decides to gift them with the hair pieces she made, she wanted to give them individually when they were back home, but she wants to make them happy somehow so they stop fighting.

Every hairpiece is evident from whom it will belong. She added the details that fit each of them.

"You made this for us?" Cyprian asks, thrilled.

"Yes. All of you have beautiful long hair, and I think this would make you even more handsome. And it wouldn’t break when you shift. Can I help you put on?" She answers.

They nod excitedly.

She takes the white one, made with white leather and black pearls and lines. She braids it on Wayde’s hair. She smiles and kisses his lips.

"Handsome. Looks great on you." She says.

"Thank you. I love you." He answers.

"I love you too."

She takes the red one, flashy and with gems.

"That is mine. I’m sure of it." Lee says.

"Yes. I know you love shiny things. All of you are handsome in your own way." Astri says, braiding it on his hair.

She kisses his lips.

"I love you, Mighty Eagle." She says.

He pulls her to kiss her again.

"I love you more."

Then she takes a yellow one, it’s made with scales that remind Zin’s scales. He smiles so happy to receive a gift handmade by his spouse.

"He’s so beautiful. And I tell him every day. Yeah. I know, I know. When I compliment him he won’t believe me. It’s so, it’s so sad to think that he doesn’t see what I see." She sings and kisses Zin’s lips.

She takes a rustic black one with scales and braids on Cyprian’s hair, singing:

"When I see your face. There’s not a thing that I would change. You’re amazing. Just the way you are."

Cyprian pulls her and kisses her too when she leans to him.

Claud’s ornament is elegant with golden and silver strings and pearls.

"And when you smile, the whole world stops and stares for a while because you’re amazing. Just the way you are." She sings to him and kisses his lips too.

"What about us?" Lee asks with puppy eyes because she didn’t sing to him and Wayde.

She giggles walking to Wayde, and sings passing her fingers on his lips:

"His lips, his lips. I could kiss them all day if he’d let me."

He chuckles. Then she pokes Lee on his side and he chuckles.

"His laugh. His laugh. He hates it, but I think it’s so sexy." She sings, making everyone laugh too. "They’re so beautiful. And I tell them every day."

She sings a little bit more of the adapted song she brought from the Human World, then they get too happy and excited together.

"You all leave. It’s my turn." Lee speaks.

"But she had Claud yesterday. She needs to rest. Calm down, birdy." Wayde says.

"Don’t be rude just because your hair ornament doesn’t have as many gems as mine."

"Lee, I created this not thinking about which one is more expensive, but on how it would fit with every one of your personalities." Astri speaks.

"They have poor personalities?" Lee asks.

"No! They just don’t care much about flashy things."

"She called you flashy." Cyprian jokes with Lee.

"Would you stop? You will make her mad." Zin says.

"Lee likes to be on top always. Astri looked at all of our personalities and made hair ornaments just like us. Mine is more elegant and refined because I’m like that." Claud explains, but it sounded too much like he was saying he was better than the others.

"There’s no elegance in a horse. Only in eagles." Lee speaks.

"I prefer strength instead of elegance and flashy things. Astri made mine knowing I’m the strongest." Cyprian says.

"Mine has more details because I’m the most special since I’m her first mate." Wayde points.

Astri sighs angrily. Things were so well just a moment ago and now it went down all over again. She gets very mad and then brings her cubs to where Shan and Beau are staying.

"Sorry to disturb you. Can we sleep here tonight?" Astri asks them, going inside and then closing the door on her spouses’ faces.

"What happened?" Shan asks.

"Astri, sorry! Let’s talk, please!" Her spouses whine from outside.

"Think about what you did and tomorrow we’ll talk. Now leave!" Astri says.

"But Astri.."

"Don’t try me!! I’m warning you!!"

They get in silence and then leave gloomy. Astri sighs getting calmer, then she hugs her cubs.

"I’m sorry you have to see that, sweethearts. Don’t mind your fathers, they’re just tired of being on a ship. Mommy is fine, ok?" She says to them.

Elias and Kai rub their faces on Astri, and Yuki is confused but then she lays her head on Astri’s shoulder to go back to sleep. Beau and Shan get them a bed, then watch her tucking her cubs to sleep singing softly for them.

Shan and Beau have this silly smile on their faces as they watch her. When the cubs are deep asleep, Astri sighs and looks at them.

"Sorry for disturbing you." She says in a low voice to them.

"No. You can come whenever you need. Your mates had their tempers altered these past few days. Did something happen?" Shan speaks in a low voice.

"They’re bored and getting frustrated that’s all, but my patience has limits."

"We are getting close. I think that in six days we will be arriving." Beau says.

"Good. Excited to be back home?"

"Not much. I have a cabin, but I rarely stay there." Shan says.

"Me too. I spend more time at work than home." Beau agrees.

"You’re very dedicated to your kingdom." Her smile makes them believe she’s proud of them and they smile too. "All of the Queen’s spouses are Kings?"

"Yes." They answer.

"How many Kings do you have?"

"Now, 47." Shan answers.

Astri’s jaw almost broke.

"How.. I mean. How do they lead the kingdom together?" She asks, shocked.

"Who has the most power is the oldest. We call him the Great King. He’s a whale." Beau says.

"I see..." Astri is still shocked that a female can have so many males, but as she learned, the Queen is a sea turtle and lives longer than any other sea beast kind. "She had more than 47?"

"Yes, many already died old or in battle." Shan answers.

"I see.. Well, what a huge family. Must be painful watching her spouses dying..."

"It happens when you’re a kind that lives longer.. You will go through that one day, right? It’s not possible that someone as important as you will live a short life."

Astri smiles and denies with her head.

"No. I won’t." She answers.

"How long does your kind live? Sea beastmen live around 300 years." Shan asks.

"Does Nature die?"

"I don’t think so.. So you’re saying you don’t die?" Beau asks impressed.

"Nature dies if it’s killed. Same for me. Age will never kill me, but I can die in other ways. Like sick or being killed."

"Oh... So, you will watch all your spouses and cubs die..?" Shan asks, shocked.

"No. My spouses are immortal because of me. My cubs will probably live forever as long they live near me."

They’re stunned.

"Your spouses will live forever.. This is amazing, but also dangerous. If others find out, every male will want to be with you just because of that." Beau softly says.

"Maybe males like that will appear. Don’t worry. I was raised in a place where males would do things like Xandra to get a female. I’m immune to this kind." She chuckles.

"Let me see if I understood. You and your males will never die through aging?" Shan asks.

"Yes. That’s another reason I don’t wear exposing clothes. Not only because of my beast mark. Due to my spousal marks reactions. Whenever my spouses touch them they get more vibrant. Others would notice I’m different just by that."

"Oh my... It’s a blessing having you in all matters then." Shan softly says.

She chuckles.

"I’m the blessed one."

"Why did you tell us something so important?" Beau asks.

"Why not? I trust you. Or you plan to use that against me?"

"No! Never!" Both say simultaneously.

She "shiu" them, closing Yuki’s ears after she moved hearing their louder voice. They close their mouths apologetically. Zin opens the door slowly and puts his head inside.

"Astri... Why am I being punished if I didn’t fight? I even told them to stop." His eyes are so sad, breaking her heart.

She calls him with her head and he opens the happiest smile, he slithers inside and coils his long body around her and the cubs, and spoons Astri.
