Chapter 385 - The God of the Abyss (Part 2)

“Who are you? How do you know my identity?” The purple seahorse was stunned.

Any normal sea creature would have avoided this place. Only the mentally unwell, or those ordered by their boss, would come here willingly. Besides, the Undead attribute wasn’t something just anyone could handle.

Lu Ran raised the Broken Horn of the Divine Deer with one hand and declared, ”I am the messenger of the Divine Deer, under the command of the Life Dragon. I’ve come on important business to seek an audience with The God of the Abyss. Do you know its whereabouts? Take me there at once.”

The purple seahorse: 0.o

Huh?

The seahorse’s mind was in turmoil. What was supposed to be a routine suppression of Evil God creatures had somehow turned into a diplomatic meeting between Legendary beings.

Just as the seahorse hesitated, wondering if this was some kind of trap, a voice echoed in its mind.

Bring them to me.

The seahorse shuddered. It was the voice of the God of the Abyss.

At the same time, Lu Ran and the others sensed the change in the seahorse’s demeanor. A terrifying presence was now observing them through the seahorse as a conduit.

***

Abyss Space.

A huge, translucent purple jellyfish-like being radiated light. Through the power it had left in the purple seahorse, it vaguely perceived the situation on the island.

At first, it had assumed another powerful Evil God creature had broken free of its restraints. But when Lu Ran flashed the Broken Horn of the Divine Deer, the Ghost Mother confirmed his identity.

He truly is a messenger of that deer.

The Ghost Mother had little interaction with the Divine Deer and didn’t understand the purpose of sending a messenger to it. However, to avoid missing any critical information, it decided to meet him.

Under the purple seahorse’s guidance, Lu Ran and his group soon stepped into a spatial vortex leading to the depths of the sea. At this point, all of Lu Ran’s familiars had been returned to their cards.

“I can’t believe you actually pulled this off,” Manager Ying muttered as it followed Lu Ran.

However, the surrounding darkness and icy seawater gave it a bad feeling. Although Lu Ran appeared calm on the surface, he was actually really anxious. Despite his status as the Divine Deer’s messenger, the power gap between him and The God of the Abyss was immense.

“You may enter here to reach The God of the Abyss,” explained the purple seahorse.

Ahead of them now was a black rift, seemingly leading to another space.

Lu Ran and Manager Ying exchanged glances, then nodded and stepped into the black rift. Moments later, they were unceremoniously dumped into another dimension, as if flushed down a cosmic toilet.

Cough! Cough!

Lu Ran was thrown hard onto the ground, but thanks to his tough physique, he was unharmed. However, Manager Ying landed gracefully. Its gaze was deep as it took in the colossal being before them.

They seemed to be standing on a floating platform amidst a dark, starry ocean. And before them was an enormous purple jellyfish, The God of the Abyss, suspended in the void.

“Messenger of the Divine Deer, state your purpose.”

The God of the Abyss’ voice was cold, its impression of Lu Ran less than favorable. Plus, its opinion of the Divine Deer wasn’t much better.

As the Divine Deer’s messenger, how dare he contract an Evil God creature? Does the Divine Deer not know the price I had paid to suppress the Evil God’s lineage?

Lu Ran spoke respectfully. “God of the Abyss, I’ve come for three matters. First, when the God of the Other Shore perished, the Stone of the Other Shore was lost in a spatial rift. We’ve received intelligence that it may have fallen to another dimension, which is Blue Planet. The Divine Deer believed this information should be relayed to you, hence my presence.”

“The Stone of the Other Shore? Blue Planet... is it the one the Divine Deer and Squirrel God traveled to?”

“Yes, the very same one!” Lu Ran confirmed.

The God of the Abyss fell silent.

The Stone of the Other Shore is hidden on Blue Planet...?

“I see... This is valuable intelligence. What is the second matter?”

“God of the Abyss, are you aware of Limitless City?”

The God of the Abyss replied, “What is that?”

Lu Ran was stunned.

Wow, the Divine Deer is right. These deep-sea creatures that have been isolated from human contact for so long truly knew nothing about Limitless City.

Lu Ran quickly summarized the city’s nature, including the Divine Deer’s speculation that it might be connected to the Four Supreme Divine Dragons.

“My crow’s Evil God power was acquired through Limitless City’s energy. Actually, beyond this intel, I’ve heard that you, Lord Ghost Mother, are the guardian of the Evil God’s seal and possess extensive knowledge of its lineage.

“I’d like to ask for your guidance—to see if there are any hidden risks in its power. When my crow first fused with this energy, we didn’t fully understand its origins or that it was tied to a Superior Divine being.” Lu Ran seized the opportunity to ask.

The Ghost Mother ignored Lu Ran’s latter remarks, pondering for a long moment before saying, “So the Divine Deer’s intention is for us to follow its example of selecting a human messenger capable of entering Limitless City to explore it from another angle and investigate the traces of the Four Supreme Divine Dragons. Correct?”

“Yes...”

The Ghost Mother exhaled. “The two pieces of intelligence you’ve brought are indeed valuable. As compensation, I will examine your familiar’s condition. Summon that crow of yours.”

Overjoyed, Lu Ran immediately summoned Dark Crow. Both its Cursed Crow and Death Crow forms appeared simultaneously. The Ghost Mother observed the crow, which wielded both Undead and cursed powers, and pondered.

“Its fusion with the Evil God’s energy isn’t flawed. It has actually digested that power well. However, Dark, Spirit, Death, and Time... Its energies are too chaotic. If it can unify these forces, its control over Evil God energy will improve. Even if the Evil God revives, it won’t affect its state.”

Lu Ran was taken aback.

The Ghost Mother continued, “Do you know what attribute the Evil God possesses?”

“Dark? Spirit?” Lu Ran guessed.

“Wrong! The elemental and physical attributes you’re familiar with are bound by established rules. However, a group of Legendary beings that were in the process of consolidating their power long ago broke these constraints and created new attributes tailored to themselves.

“For example, the Evil God unified its power to become the first Curse-attribute being in existence, transcending conventional attributes. Its seven kins are also of the Curse attribute. In truth, many Legendaries possess unique attributes like the Curse attribute, Holy attribute, Chaos attribute, World attribute, and so on.

“Even the Mechanical attribute only emerged after the birth of a Mechanical God. Thus, for your crow to wield Evil God energy without backlash or future risks, it must unify its current chaotic attributes into one. At the very least, that attribute cannot be weaker than the Curse attribute. Otherwise, the Evil God’s power will eventually rebel, and its current attributes won’t be enough to suppress it.”

Upon seeing Lu Ran’s bewildered expression, the Ghost Mother sighed, realizing this might be too advanced for a novice like him.

“Very well. Do me a favor. When this crow is on the verge of evolution, return to me. I will guide it in unifying its attributes.”

Lu Ran was beyond shocked.

Caw?” Dark Crow’s eyes gleamed.

“Help me collect 100,000 high-quality human blood samples. I wish to find a suitable candidate to become my messenger.”
