Chapter 384 - The God of the Abyss (Part 1)

Stellar Moon World, Endless Sea, on a certain isolated island.

The sky above the entire island was shrouded in eerie, dark clouds. On the island, all sorts of terrifying creatures stood like loyal guards, watching over their territory.

In the surrounding waters, numerous bizarre creatures encircled the island, forming layer upon layer of blockade. These were all followers of the Evil God. At this moment, they were engaged in worship. The object of their worship was a colossal black crow at the center of the island, its wings blotting out the sky.

In its fully evolved form, Dark Crow spread its wings, its thousand eyes scanning the movements of the sea. Its body greedily absorbed the Evil God’s power offered by these creatures, while recklessly unleashing its own Evil God’s energy.

“Marvelous... Absolutely marvelous.” Dark Crow murmured.

At this moment, Dark Crow’s appearance was so terrifying that even the sword spirit and swordgrass, who usually didn’t care, would’ve been intimidated—not to mention Captain Doofus, Sudden Death King, and Baby Cloud, who all found it rather spine-chilling.

Even Manager Ying’s eyes twitched violently as it silently prayed that if the God of the Abyss really did appear, it would at least give them a chance to explain. Lu Ran and his crew really didn’t seem like they were acting.

Among them, only Six-Path Flower remained calm.

“How do you feel?”

“I feel incredible. These guys are way more useful than my crow descendants!” Dark Crow was very excited, feeling as though its power was about to overflow.

“I meant if you’re experiencing any adverse effects!” Six-Path Flower sighed.

Although it had erased the sanity of these Evil God creatures and turned them into puppets, their power was still extremely volatile. It worried Dark Crow might be affected.

“No effects at all,” Dark Crow replied immediately.

“Good.” Six-Path Flower sighed again.

Dark Crow was indeed remarkable. It managed to absorb the power of so many Evil God creatures through a legion skill while remaining composed. Truly, it was a vicious bird worthy of its reputation—one that could even eat its own eyeballs.

It looks like this guy was born to be an Evil God creature.

“But... But, Boss, Sister Flower... are you sure this will work? I don’t feel like this is enough to wake up the Ghost Mother...” Dark Crow hesitated.

“What’s there to worry about? We’re doing our best and leaving the rest to fate. If it doesn’t wake the Ghost Mother, so be it. At least we came all this way and captured so many Evil God creatures. We aren’t going to leave empty-handed. As for the intel on the Stone of the Other Shore, we can always sell it to the God of the Underworld later.” Lu Ran lay sprawled on a chair.

In truth, although Dark Crow’s aura was already extremely sinister and terrifying, it was still somewhat weak. Of course, this weakness was relative to a Legendary being’s. Lu Ran was gambling on the Ghost Mother’s sensitivity toward Evil God creatures. If it deemed this level of Evil God activity unworthy of attention, then there was nothing he could do.

The powerful Evil God creatures in this sea area were indeed scarce, with none exceeding level 70. Lu Ran suspected that someone, or something, must have been periodically getting rid of them.

Moreover, the ones responsible for getting rid of these creatures didn’t seem to be humans. According to the intel they’d gathered, there was no dedicated department in this sea area tasked with exterminating Evil God creatures, nor did the federation manage this region. So, the ones suppressing the remnants of the Evil God’s forces were likely Transcendent beings.

Even if they couldn’t lure the Ghost Mother, attracting this “cleaner” wouldn’t be bad either. Given its persistence in this task, it was highly likely connected to the Ghost Mother, and was perhaps even an employee of the God of the Abyss.

While Lu Ran was busy with the Divine Deer’s task, the other Divine Deer messenger, Bai Lu, wasn’t idle either. She had traveled to the continent where Manager Ying mentioned the mechanical ruins were located, searching for an opportunity for Lu Ran to explore them.

In the alleyways of a small, war-torn city that resembled ruins, Bai Lu was walking step by step into the distance. At the end of the alley, a black-haired young man in a leather jacket, with a small silver tactical robot floating beside him, slowly exhaled cigarette smoke and adjusted his mechanical glasses.

“Death Gun.”

“Bai Lu.”

The two addressed each other by their Limitless City IDs.

“What do you want from me?” Death Gun asked, eyeing the woman whose aura was the polar opposite of his.

Death Gun, Bai Lu, and Kong Kongyi. These three names were initially unfamiliar to the Legendary beastmasters of the Stellar Moon Federation.

Originally, the genius beastmasters known throughout the federation were either descendants or disciples of Legendary figures. But after the emergence of Limitless City, these three had stolen the spotlight, leaving many other geniuses in the dust.

Bai Lu cut straight to the point. “You’re the messenger of the Underworld God, aren’t you? A mechanist who suddenly dabbles in the Undead attribute, ignores its drawbacks, and perfectly fuses the Mechanical attribute with the Undead attribute. That must be the work of the Underworld God.”

Death Gun retorted, “Is that your idea of logic? Why not say the same about Lu Ran, the ‘Father of the Undead’ from Blue Planet? Didn’t he also overcome the drawbacks of the Undead? Couldn’t I have just found a solution in an ascension realm?”

“There’s no need to hide it. It’s not like it’s a shameful title.” Bai Lu extended her hand, and a white light flashed as the Broken Horn of the Divine Deer materialized in her grasp.

“Let me introduce myself. I’m Bai Lu, messenger of the Divine Deer. You can’t fool me. My sensitivity to death energy is acute. The death energy you wield is undoubtedly tied to a Legendary being.”

“死枪,我想请你帮个忙,你是机械界的天才,传奇机械师下的最强人物,这个机械遗迹,你应该已经探索完毕了吧?其实我有一个朋友因为对机械系感兴趣,也想探索看看,但身份有点不好处理,希望你能帮个忙。”

Seeing the Divine Deer’s horn, Death Gun shook his head. “Then what does the messenger of the Forest Life God want with me? Surely it’s not just to confirm my identity?”

Bai Lu smiled. “The Underworld God chose you as its messenger for the same reason the Divine Deer chose me. Let’s get acquainted. If we encounter any troublesome secret realms in the future, we can collaborate.”

Death Gun shrugged. “Sure, but aside from Legendary secret realms, nothing has given me trouble so far. It’s just a pity that Legendary secret realms don’t allow teams.”

Bai Lu’s smile deepened. “Of course, that’s not the main reason I’ve come to see you. Death Gun, I need a favor. You’re a genius in the Mechanical attribute—the strongest under Legendary mechanists. You must’ve already explored this mechanical ruin, right?

“I have a friend who’s interested in mechanical systems and wants to explore it, but his identity is... complicated. I was hoping you could help. After all, I don’t have many connections in this field.”

“Who is this person that you would personally come to ask me?”

Bai Lu replied nonchalantly, ”The other Divine Deer messenger. Just think of him as an orphan who appeared out of thin air.”

Death Gun was dumbfounded.

An orphan secretly raised by a Legendary being, with no identity in the federation’s mechanical circles? Yeah, it makes sense, I guess. But... there are two Divine Deer messengers?

Death Gun froze, feeling a pang of envy.

Nice. A man and a woman working together—efficiency guaranteed.

Maybe someday, he could ask the Underworld God to assign him a female partner... though he worried that making such a request might get him fired—or worse, killed. Every time he met the Underworld God, Death Gun felt like he was one misstep away from being dismissed or erased.

Bai Lu pressed on. “You haven’t said if you’ll agree. Consider it a favor owed.”

“It’s just a small matter. Tell him to come find me when he’s ready.” Death Gun waved it off.

“Deal.” Bai Lu nodded and immediately sent a message to Manager Ying.

Meanwhile, back with Lu Ran’s group, their “fishing” operation continued for a long while. Unfortunately, it yielded no results.

“Is this really going to work? Bai Lu just messaged that she secured your access to the mechanical ruin,” Manager Ying informed.

“It has to work!” Lu Ran stared at the calm sea.

He was anything but calm, his heart filled with anticipation.

“Dark Crow says it senses something coming. This time, it’s the real deal!”

“Really?” Manager Ying looked skeptical.

As they waited, something did eventually approach, drawn by Dark Crow’s presence.

However, it wasn’t what Lu Ran had hoped for—not even close. It wasn’t some righteous warrior, nor was it one of the pirates common in the Endless Sea. Instead, it was a sea creature that Six-Path Flower diagnosed as “mentally unstable,” drawn to the commotion out of sheer curiosity.

Lu Ran had never seen such a foolish creature before. In the end, they could only drive it away in frustration.

“This time... It’s the real deal! Aaah!” Dark Crow shrieked mid-air, its eyes suddenly stinging as blood seeped out.

One of its Evil God’s Eyes, sent out to scout the sea, had been instantly destroyed by the approaching creature, without even a chance to react.

Upon hearing this, Lu Ran, Six-Path Flower, and Manager Ying on the island tensed up. Lu Ran immediately stood up, his gaze sharp as he stared into the distance.

At the same time, deep in the ocean far away, a purple, phantom-like seahorse was speeding toward Lu Ran’s location.

Damn it! Damn it! I’m so careless... How did I let such a powerful Evil God creature slip through? I hope it’s still within controllable limits... Please don’t let the God of Abyss notice.

The purple seahorse swam faster and faster, arriving at its destination in an instant. But as it breached the surface, ascending into the cloudy sea, and fixed its gaze on the island, it suddenly froze.

It was because it saw a human clad in a white, sacred robe, holding up a broken horn with an air of righteousness. Moreover, the entire island was littered with mindless Evil God creatures lying like corpses.

“Servant of the God of Abyss, you’ve finally arrived. We’ve already cleared out the Evil God creatures for you.” Lu Ran looked up at the purple seahorse hovering in the sky and smiled.

Level 81. It’s an Undead and Water-attribute Superior Overlord, huh...?
