Chapter 374 - Rekindling the Past

Although the Divine Deer spoke the truth, Lu Ran felt a chill run down his spine.

What if the Divine Deer messes up the transformation and turns me into a vegetable?

Lu Ran gulped, trying to reassure himself.

At this moment, only about ten seconds had passed since the Six-Paths Flower blacked out, and its eyes flickered open again. Compared to Lu Ran’s shock, it was clear that it was the one more startled.

Upon regaining consciousness, the Six-Paths Flower immediately floated up from Lu Ran’s palm. The Divine Deer shook its head. If the Six-Paths Flower had survived until now, it would have been an ancient relic like itself.

However, the way Limitless City and Lu Ran revived the Six-Paths Flower left it mentally immature. Just like Lu Ran, it was essentially a fledgling.

“There’s no need to panic.”

The Divine Deer spoke slowly, and before Lu Ran could explain, it took the initiative to convey the truth to the Six-Paths Flower through a glowing orb of information.

“How could I not panic?” The Six-Paths Flower muttered.

However, compared to before, it had calmed down considerably. It sensed that it now possessed powers it had never had before—powers that seemed to originate from the Divine Deer.

I’ve... been enhanced by the Divine Deer.

Although Lu Ran’s earlier words had been nonsensical, the Six-Paths Flower couldn’t ignore the bizarre changes happening to it. For now, it forced itself to remain composed and listened to Lu Ran and the Divine Deer.

The Six-Paths Flower lightly touched the information orb, and in the next moment, a flood of knowledge filled its mind. The Divine Tree, the Six-Paths Flower, and the Void Leaf are the three most exceptional plant-type Transcendent beings of the Beast God Era—pioneers among plant life who resisted the oppression of the Beast Gods.

Among them, the Six-Paths Flower and the Void Leaf perished in their struggle against the Beast Gods. The Divine Tree endured until the end, breaking through to the Primary Divine and ushering in the Plant Era.

Then came the Ten-Thousand-Year Pact phase, where plant Transcendent beings flourished, followed by the prolonged war between plant and animal species. In the final stage of that war, the battle between the Divine Tree and the Chaos Dragon God shattered the world, breaking the continent and leaving both sides dormant.

The world underwent cataclysmic changes. Humanity rose amidst the dormancy of both the Beast Gods and the Plant Gods. Countless years later, the Mechanical Era arrived. Humanity entered its most glorious phase in history.

But unfortunately, when the mechanical civilization reached its peak, humans combined extraterrestrial energy and mechanical intelligence to attempt the creation of a Mechanical Primary Divine being, triggering the dangers of artificial intelligence. The Stellar Moon World faced a threat even greater than the war between the Divine Tree and the Chaos Dragon God.

Even many slumbering Legendary beasts were drawn into this crisis, later known as the Great Calamity. Although Stellar Moon Continent eventually overcame the disaster, the world lay in ruins, with spiritual energy faint and everything needing to be rebuilt from scratch.

Yet, at this time, countless lives still held boundless hope for the “New Era.” And the greatest variable in this New Era was the arrival of Infinite City.

A vast amount of information about Limitless City and its mechanisms flooded the Six-Paths Flower’s mind. Trial realms, ascension realms, cultivation systems, and historical projections. Such phenomena of immense power remained unexplainable even to Legendary beings. Perhaps they were connected to the long-lost Four Supreme Divine Dragons...

“And my experiences weren’t real history...? Instead, they took place in a man-made historical projection? The real me died long ago in history?”

The information transmitted by the Divine Deer left the Six-Paths Flower even more bewildered. It hovered mid-air, stunned, finding this even harder to believe than its level transformation.

On this matter, the Six-Paths Flower didn’t think the Divine Deer was lying. If it left this place and visited the Stellar Moon Federation, the truth of history would be easy to verify.

The Beastmaster Era, the Divine Tree Era, the Mechanical Era, Limitless City, Lu Ran’s experiences in the ascension realm—whether they truly existed or not, could be confirmed with a simple inquiry.

Lu Ran looked at the dazed Six-Paths Flower and said, “Flower Sis, although it’s hard to comprehend, like I said, this is a good thing. At least, you’ve been given a chance to start over.”

The Six-Paths Flower fell silent.

Limitless City... Just what is Limitless City?

It had always sensed something off about Lu Ran but could never pinpoint it. Now it seemed that it was all Limitless City’s doing. The Six-Paths Flower’s gaze met Lu Ran’s, and he looked back at it calmly.

“You lied to me,” the Six-Paths Flower said slowly.

All that talk about being the first to defeat a Legendary divine beast, breaking the existing rules, and becoming a pioneer who would grant sentience to all plants on Stellar Moon Continent—about ushering in an era for plant life—turned out to be empty promises. The Divine Tree had already accomplished all of it! And here I was getting all fired up.

Lu Ran scratched his cheek. “Ah... No! Everything I said back then came from the heart. This time, I’ll accompany you as you break through to the Legendary level. The Divine Tree didn’t completely defeat the Chaos Dragon God, but I believe if it’s you, the Six-Paths Flower, you can truly usher in the Plant Era. Let bygones be bygones. Now, we can have a fresh start.”

The Six-Paths Flower wouldn’t be fooled by Lu Ran’s grand promises again, but as a newly reborn being, it felt a bit lost, unsure of where to go.

At this point, after listening to Lu Ran and the Six-Paths Flower, the Divine Deer finally spoke up. “God of Six Paths, the world is now full of mysteries, ones even we, the divine dragons’ kin, cannot fully unravel. Why not accept the present and, as you grow stronger again, seek the answers you desire?

“Lu Ran, as my messenger and the one who resurrected you from history, is someone you can trust. His promises are mine as well. I will do everything in my power to guide and protect you both as you step into the Legendary realm.”

“Fine.” The Six-Paths Flower pouted.

At this point, with the world so changed, it couldn’t really trust anyone besides Lu Ran. As for the later experiences of its past self, the true nature of Limitless City, the Divine Tree, and the Ten-Thousand-Year Pact, the Six-Paths Flower decided it would investigate them later, one by one. For now, it would stay by Lu Ran’s side.

Lu Ran grinned. “Six Flowers, don’t look so reluctant. Although you’ve lost your level 100 status, I’ve prepared an evolution gift pack for you. You already know about Limitless City, right? Unlike Transcendent beings who evolve through trial and error, with Limitless City’s power, you can undergo evolution through trait fusion every 30 levels.

“Now that you’re reborn at level 1, this is actually a good thing. You’ll have at least three guaranteed evolution opportunities. I’ve already prepared three powerful traits for you. By level 30, you might even advance to a Low Legendary!”

After Lu Ran finished speaking, the Six-Paths Flower’s gaze locked onto him. “You’re serious?”

Lu Ran blinked eagerly. “Of course.”

”What traits?”

For the Six-Paths Flower, ordinary abilities held little appeal. Take the Nature Manipulation trait, which had been incredibly useful for Captain Doofus and Baby Cloud. With its millennia of accumulated energy control experience, it could already achieve far better results on its own.

Lu Ran also knew that ordinary traits wouldn’t be enough to catalyze the Six-Paths Flower’s transformation. However, the traits he was about to mention were not ordinary. He believed these resources would perfectly suit the current Six-Paths Flower.

“The first trait is the Lucky Grass trait. It boosts the user’s fortune and can also influence the luck of those around them.”

As soon as Lu Ran said this, not only the Six-Paths Flower but even the Divine Deer beside them froze momentarily. Fortune-related abilities were exceedingly rare, even among beings who specialized in such powers.

“The second trait is Limit Breaker. When faced with restrictions, the user has a higher chance of breaking through them. Whether it’s rule-based restrictions or species limitations, this trait increases the likelihood that evolution will elevate the user’s species rank.

“Combined with the Lucky Grass trait, the odds will become incredibly high. At that point, I wouldn’t say you’ll have a 100% guarantee of reaching Low Legendary, but the probability should be at least 50%, right?

“The last resource is for awakening an attribute. It’s a treasure that awakens the Time attribute. With these two traits and the strongest attribute, I refuse to believe you won’t advance to Low Legendary.” Lu Ran brimmed with confidence.

“Not bad.” Even the Divine Deer couldn’t help but nod in agreement.

For something like the Six-Paths Flower, further progress was exceedingly difficult. But the very purpose of Limitless City’s existence was to help Transcendent beings easily break through their species limits. Lucky Grass and Limit Breaker were perfect trait choices for the Six-Paths Flower, which had almost no weaknesses.

“The Lucky Grass and Limit Breaker traits are excellent, but the Time-attribute awakening resource is unnecessary,” the Divine Deer said.

Lu Ran was taken aback. “Huh? Why? Is the Time attribute not good? Or is it unsuitable for the Six-Paths Flower?”

Six-Paths Flower looked at Lu Ran as if he were an idiot. “I almost forgot—I never taught you this back then. Having more attributes isn’t necessarily better. As you said, the most suitable one is the best.

“Do you think I only had the Grass attribute at level 99 because I never tried developing other attributes? Even the Divine Deer beside you, and over 90% of Legendary beings, are single-attributed.

“During their growth, they might have experimented with other attributes, but without exception, they either discarded the useless ones or integrated them into their primary attribute.

“Only in this way can one progress further. Too many attributes lead to mediocrity. I’ve dabbled in Spirit, Space, and even Time attributes, but in the end, I merged them all into my Grass-attribute. My Grass-attribute power can already replicate the effects of Time and Space. So there’s no need to prepare a Time-attribute resource for me.

“Your familiars, like that dog of yours, have too many attributes. Wind, Ice, Space... How about you just fuse them all together?

“In comparison, Sudden Death King has done quite well. It’s Lightning and Rock attributes have merged into a new draconic force. Most Dragon-attribute beings follow this path. It’s one reason dragons are innately powerful. The Dragon attribute itself is a powerful, singular attribute born from the fusion of multiple attributes!

“You know what... Fine, I’ll form a contract with you for a while longer. Clearly, you’d keep stumbling down the wrong path without me.”
