Beast God
Chapter 50: Shituo Fusion

Suddenly, the two mutated Shituos began flailing their limbs wildly. Their movements looked incredibly strange, as if two skeletons were dancing the celestial fairy dance.

Not only did the others find it bizarre, but Chen Guan himself was a bit puzzled. The Cheerleader's Soul had the effect of stimulating potential, but he had never heard of it making someone dance joyfully like this.

Wang Lian didn’t care about that and directly threw flying daggers at the two mutated Shituos that appeared to be dancing.

Her flying daggers were already fast enough, yet they were slapped away by the mutated Shituos’ two palms. Even the hidden ox-hair needles between her fingers were knocked to the ground by the other mutated Shituo.

Wang Lian frowned slightly. She knew the abilities of mutated Shituos quite well. Dodging her flying daggers wasn’t difficult, but these two mutated Shituos actually slapped away both her daggers and needles—it surprised her.

Moreover, the two Shituos coordinated their actions perfectly. Given the intelligence level of mutated Shituos, this seemed almost impossible.

Wang Lian kept throwing flying daggers and needles without pause. The two mutated Shituos performed dazzling, dance-like movements while knocking all of her thrown weapons to the ground.

“Those two mutated Shituos really are different from regular ones. Their strength and speed surpass ordinary mutated Shituos, and their judgment and physical toughness seem much stronger too,” the others also noticed that these two were no ordinary mutated Shituos.

Wang Lian speculated that perhaps these two mutated Shituos were what Chen Guan encountered after falling into the earth fissure—only resembling mutated Shituos but actually not mutated Shituos.

At this moment, Wang Lian remained calm because she still held a trump card against the Shituos. As long as she had this trump card, ordinary Shituos posed no threat unless she faced the Shituo King. Even the Master of Shituo Forest was useless against her.

When a certain elder of the Wang family came to the island, he had also followed the inscription on the stone tablet to enter the Shituo Forest.

He originally intended to kill the Master of Shituo Forest but ultimately failed due to being besieged by the horde of Shituos.

The horde summoned by the Shituo King was nearly endless. Without absolute strength, even supreme combat power couldn’t resist the Shituo horde.

Until he teleported away, that Wang family elder still hadn’t figured out how to kill the Shituo King with the Shituo horde present.

Later, he gave up on the matter because he discovered that only people born on the fifteenth day of the seventh lunar month, on the night of that day, teleporting into the Mount Pingdu secret realm for the first time, could reach that mysterious island. He had no chance to enter again.

So the matter was left unresolved until once he entered another secret realm and encountered mystical spirits similar to Shituos. He saw practitioners in that secret realm spraying perfume made from flowers on themselves to cause those Shituo-like spirits to lose the ability to detect humans. That was when he thought of a method to break through the Shituo horde at lower levels.

The Wang family elder purchased a batch of datura flowers, learned perfume-making techniques, and created concentrated datura perfume for the Wang family descendants to use against the Shituo horde upon entering the island.

Wang Lian carried datura perfume on her body, which was why she deliberately let Chen Guan and the others go kill the Shituo King first—she had planned all along to use the Shituo horde as a way to escape.

She wasn’t afraid of Chen Guan searching her. No matter what, they wouldn’t suspect that a small perfume bottle in a woman’s makeup bag would have special effects.

Wang Lian quietly reached into her pocket, pressed the bottle cap, and sprayed some perfume onto her hand.

Her palm came out of the pocket, releasing a faint, fresh fragrance.

Suddenly, the two mutated Shituos seemed to lose their target and stopped charging toward Wang Lian, as if their target had been lost.

But their bodies kept moving, still dancing the strange dance, and the distance between them grew closer. It looked like a male and female skeleton performing a close-contact dance.

“Ordinary mutated Shituos, I can kill them with ease. One hand is enough to finish them off,” Wang Lian said as she strode toward the mutated Shituos, acting as if she didn’t even regard them.

She had no choice but to do this. The datura perfume only made the Shituos ignore her presence for now; it didn’t make her completely undetectable.

Even if she smeared the perfume on her flying daggers and needles, the airflow caused by their flight would still be detected by the mutated Shituos.

By walking slowly toward them like this, the Shituos wouldn’t notice her, and striking a killing blow at close range before they could react was the best way to kill them.

Everyone watched as Wang Lian approached the mutated Shituos, but the two seemed blind, completely ignoring her. They were all amazed, wondering what secret technique Wang Lian was using to be so miraculous.

When Qin Ziyu was rescued by Wang Lian, she had sprayed him with datura perfume. He knew the secret and thought those two mutated Shituos would soon be killed by Wang Lian.

As Wang Lian almost reached the mutated Shituos, within arm’s reach, the dance of the two mutated Shituos reached its climax. Their bodies intertwined like snakes.

Crack… crack…

Wang Lian, holding flying daggers ready to strike, hadn’t yet moved when a strange change occurred in the two mutated Shituos.

The bones inside their bodies pierced through skin and flesh as if it were thin paper. Their breastbones opened and intertwined in an embrace like clasped fingers, merging into one. Other bones also pierced the skin, connecting with each other.

In the blink of an eye, the two mutated Shituos’ bodies merged grotesquely into one. Bones interlocked, blood mixed, flesh entwined, forming a creature with two heads, four arms, and four legs sharing one body. It moved like a spider and emitted a strange black aura.

Everyone was stunned. Two mystical spirits could fuse into one? This was rare among mystical spirits and only some special types possessed this ability. Unexpectedly, Shituos also had this ability.

Wang Lian sensed something was wrong and launched an attack regardless. At such close range, she was confident that no matter how mutated the Shituo was, it could not dodge.

As expected, the fused mutated Shituo failed to evade and was stabbed directly in the chest by Wang Lian’s Heart Knife.

Shituos were not skeletons or zombies; they had flesh, blood, and hearts. The heart was their weak point. This stab would at least take half its life.

Bang!

Wang Lian’s flying dagger struck the Shituo’s chest but did not pierce as expected. It didn’t even pierce the mutated Shituo’s skin. The blade tip hit bone and broke off.

“Impossible... How can a mutated Shituo’s body be so tough? Even the Master of Shituo Forest’s body isn’t this resilient...” Wang Lian was shocked.

Her flying daggers were made from special steel. Unless it was a mystical spirit as physically powerful as the Great Black Heaven Demon Statue, no normal mystical spirit’s body could resist and break the blade tip.

The mutated Shituo, which had seemed blind to Wang Lian before, gradually focused its eyes and looked at her.

Wang Lian immediately felt danger and quickly retreated, but it was already too late. The mutated Shituo’s four spider-like legs moved swiftly, and in an instant, it reached Wang Lian’s front. Its two arms stretched out like devil claws toward her.
