Beast God
Chapter 4: Unique Pet

Chen Guan remained completely still as the red and white particles permeated his body. Far from showing fear, his face revealed an expression of pleasant surprise. When a Mystical Spirit died under these circumstances, there was only one possible explanation—it was undergoing pet transformation.

Just like how a Guardian Dog could transform into a Mystical Spirit pet after death, certain Mystical Spirits would undergo petrification upon dying. Their post-mortem bodies would disintegrate into particles that merged with a practitioner's body, becoming their pet.

Not all Mystical Spirits underwent this transformation—only a select few did so. The probability was unknown, entirely dependent on fate. A petrified Mystical Spirit retained its original state but could only survive by attaching itself to a practitioner, as it no longer possessed its own vitality and needed to share its host's life force.

Mystical Spirits would only choose the practitioner who killed them for petrification. This stemmed from their belief in the supremacy of strength—the one capable of killing them was naturally stronger and thus worthy of recognition. If a Mystical Spirit pet killed another Mystical Spirit, the slain spirit would choose to attach itself to the pet's owner for transformation.

When the final red and white particle entered Chen Guan's body, the Evil Cute Rabbit's corpse and its butcher knife vanished completely, along with every trace of blood on the ground. Simultaneously, information appeared in Chen Guan's mind:

Bloody Evil Cute Rabbit (Unique): Level 1 Spirit Pet.

Primordial Energy: 1.

Growth Rate: 1.91.

Innate Talent: Bloody Revival (Unique).

Secret Technique: Level 1 Bloodsucking Art (Unique).

Secret Skill: Level 1 Bloodsucking Blade Technique (Unique).

Treasure: Level 1 Bloodsucking Blade (Unique).

"No wonder this Evil Cute Rabbit was so terrifying—it's actually a unique quality specimen. I've never heard of an Evil Cute Rabbit with such high quality before," Chen Guan thought in amazement. He had initially assumed this rabbit was simply high-level, but it turned out to be only level 1. Its extraordinary power came entirely from its exceptional quality.

Moreover, this Evil Cute Rabbit's innate talent, secret technique, secret skill, and treasure were all unique quality—an extremely rare combination. Typically, a Mystical Spirit's talents and abilities would be lower quality than the spirit itself. Only a few premium specimens maintained matching quality across all attributes. Abilities surpassing the spirit's own quality existed but were rarer than winning the lottery.

Many pets lacked innate talents, secret techniques, secret skills, and treasures altogether—with treasures being the rarest of all. Most Mystical Spirits didn't possess treasures; only a minority did. Ordinary Evil Cute Rabbits wouldn't even have secret skills, let alone treasures. Some might have talents or secret techniques, but none could compare to this one's quality.

"Unique" quality essentially meant one-of-a-kind—this Bloody Evil Cute Rabbit was likely the only one of its kind. Quality represented talent potential, while growth rate indicated developmental capacity. Higher growth rates meant faster leveling and better enhancement effects upon leveling up.

The Evil Cute Rabbit's 1.91 growth rate was exceptionally high—most spirit pets were considered quite good if they exceeded 1.5. Take Five-Red Dog Warring States for example—its growth rate was only 1.14. It possessed no treasure or secret skill, only the common-quality Longevity Art secret technique learned from Chen Guan, and a single non-combat talent called Loyalty. It ranked among the lowest-tier spirit pets.

Each level increased the Evil Cute Rabbit's Primordial Energy limit by 1.91 points, whereas Warring States gained only 1.14. Similar disparities existed in the enhancement of hidden attributes like strength, speed, constitution, and intelligence—though these couldn't be numerically quantified due to their inherent variability. The Cheerleader's Soul talent specifically boosted these hidden attributes—the pet's potential.

Secret techniques represented methods for absorbing Primordial Energy to gain levels. Longevity Art, for instance, used movements and breathing to slowly absorb energy from the surroundings, resulting in slow leveling progress. At higher levels, when massive energy amounts became necessary for advancement, this common-quality technique became nearly useless for further development.

In contrast, the Evil Cute Rabbit's Bloodsucking Art directly extracted Primordial Energy from blood. Higher-level Mystical Spirits contained more energy in their blood—far more than what could be absorbed from the environment—making this method both faster and more potent.

While Longevity Art might eventually hit a ceiling, Bloodsucking Art faced virtually no limits as long as high-level Mystical Spirit blood was available. Fortunately, secret techniques were merely methods—human practitioners could learn various techniques, unlike Mystical Spirits which struggled to change their innate techniques.

However, secret techniques significantly impacted humans, determining both Primordial Energy limit increases and enhancement effects upon leveling—functionally equivalent to a Mystical Spirit's growth rate. Higher-quality techniques yielded greater Primordial Energy gains per level, so Chen Guan now needed a premium technique—continuing with Longevity Art would severely limit his progress.

Acquiring secret techniques was straightforward—killing Mystical Spirits offered chances to inherit their techniques. All human techniques originated from Mystical Spirits. Chen Guan's immediate priority was survival, followed by hunting Mystical Spirits for a high-quality technique.

Previously, Chen Guan had aimed for a rare-quality technique to boost his level before pursuing higher-quality ones. While this approach incurred early-stage losses, it was safer—low-level Mystical Spirits rarely possessed premium techniques, while hunting high-level ones without sufficient levels was dangerous.

But now, with the Evil Cute Rabbit and Cheerleader's Soul, everything changed. Under the Cheerleader's Soul enhancement, Warring States had fought the unique Evil Cute Rabbit to a standstill. Imagine how much stronger the Evil Cute Rabbit would become with the same boost.

First, he needed to level up the Evil Cute Rabbit—after that, obtaining a high-quality technique would be trivial. Chen Guan saw bright prospects ahead—all he needed now was an ultimate secret technique. However, such techniques were serendipitous finds—only a handful of ultimate-quality Mystical Spirits possessed them. Finding these spirits was difficult enough; actually obtaining their techniques upon defeat was another challenge altogether.

Chen Guan recalled the injured Warring States into his body to recuperate, then summoned his new pet—the Bloody Evil Cute Rabbit. Standing upright before him with a polar bear's physique but the appearance of an anime mascot, the creature gripped its butcher knife-style Bloodsucking Blade in its left paw—apparently left-handed—creating a bizarre yet adorable image.

"This appearance is way too conspicuous. People would definitely crowd around if they saw it. I wish we could hide that Bloodsucking Blade," Chen Guan mused while examining his pet.

The Evil Cute Rabbit seemed to understand. With a flick of its paw, it spun the blade several times before making it disappear between its claws—no telling where it went.

"It can even conceal its treasure? What an amazing pet!" Chen Guan was overjoyed. Now the Evil Cute Rabbit resembled a rare-quality specimen—just slightly larger in size. While still somewhat eye-catching, it was far less exaggerated than before.
