Chapter 428 Nuonuo Gets Hit
Chapter 428: Chapter 428 Nuonuo Gets Hit
"Brother, look! It’s Daddy’s big car!"
Lu Nuonuo was more familiar with the estate than Ji Chao and Ji Ze, knowing where the hidden spots were near the gate.
The three of them drove their toy cars, turning a corner and immediately spotting the black Maybach that had already made a U-turn to leave. Ji Chao and Ji Ze hadn’t expected their dad to actually be here.
Although the toy cars were reasonably fast, the bodyguards could catch up with a brisk walk.
Seeing the three children chasing after the black Maybach ahead, the bodyguards immediately reported the situation to Lu Xining. Hearing the car’s brand, she instantly thought of Ji Muye. He has habitual preferences for certain brands and doesn’t often switch to new ones.
The person inside that black Maybach was very likely Ji Muye.
Ji Ze shouted loudly at the car ahead, "Dad, wait for us—!"
"Little brother, slow down. The road ahead leads to the mountain path. We can’t keep moving forward; it’ll be dangerous. We can stop here and call Dad instead. Don’t chase him."
"Brother, you’re right, we can call Dad."
Just as Ji Chao stopped Ji Ze, he turned his head and saw their sister’s toy car zooming towards the vehicle ahead.
"Sister!"
"Brother, I’ll go bring Nuonuo back!"
"Xiao Ze—!"
Ji Chao watched helplessly as his younger brother and sister kept charging forward. Left with no choice, he had to follow and protect them.
Ma Sai glanced at the rearview mirror. He had a faint feeling he’d just seen something pink flash by. But when he looked closely, there was nothing visible anymore. Thinking he must have imagined it, it wasn’t until he prepared to turn that he spotted three toy cars behind them.
"???" What’s going on!
He slowed down his speed and hesitantly said, "Boss, we’re being tailed!"
Ji Muye frowned upon hearing this. They were currently at the gate of the estate. If someone was tailing them here, wouldn’t that mean they were also watching Lu Xining? He replied coldly, "What kind of vehicle?"
Ma Sai twitched the corner of his mouth and replied, "...Three toy cars."
Ji Muye: "?"
The black Maybach pulled to the roadside.
Ji Muye opened the car door and stepped out, seeing three toy cars speeding neatly toward their direction.
His expression instantly turned grim.
Lu Nuonuo came to an abrupt, exact stop in her little toy car.
Closely following her, Ji Ze and Ji Chao also parked their cars, calling out excitedly, "Dad!"
Little Dumpling blinked her eyes, momentarily unsure whether to follow their lead and call him Dad or stick with Uncle. In her hesitation, she decided to stay silent.
When they drove the toy cars out of the estate gate, Ma Sai had just started the Maybach, moving at a low speed.
The distance from the estate gate to where they had now stopped was no more than a few hundred meters.
"Ji Chao! Ji Ze! Lu Nuonuo! Do you realize just how dangerous your actions were just now? Who told you to chase the car?"
The man’s stern reprimand froze the three children in place.
"Dad, I..." Ji Chao wanted to explain, but didn’t even know where to begin.
Ji Ze, far more experienced in making mistakes, immediately lowered his head and earnestly said, "I’m sorry, Dad. We know we were wrong. We absolutely won’t ever do it again—or rather, there’ll never be a next time."
Ji Muye’s expression didn’t soften as he asked firmly, "Which one of you suggested chasing the car first?"
Seeing their two brothers apologizing profusely to their "cheap Dad," Lu Nuonuo took the initiative and admitted, "It was me."
Ji Muye: "..."
A breath caught in his throat as he looked down at the tiny figure in the toy car in front of him. She was so small, wearing an adorable bunny safety helmet, with elbow and knee guards, fully equipped with protective measures.
But every time he thought about how these three, all together still under twenty years old, were racing recklessly in toy cars to chase his car, the flames of fear and frustration in his heart refused to die down.
Ji Muye unbuckled Lu Nuonuo’s safety belt, lifted her out of the toy car, and walked straight to a long bench by the wall to sit down.
He gave her three light but striking pats on her bottom.
The actions weren’t harsh, but weren’t gentle either—just enough to leave a lasting reminder for the Little Dumpling.
"Will you dare chase cars again in the future?"
Lu Nuonuo had never been spanked before—not by her mom, and certainly not by her uncle or Uncle Fu, who doted on her immensely.
Now, in front of her two brothers, she’d just gotten her butt smacked. Her eyes instantly turned red.
Whenever Dad got strict, Ji Chao and Ji Ze wouldn’t dare utter a word.
This time they also realized they’d made a mistake. Yet their sister was still so young. If anyone needed to own up and take the punishment, it should be them as her elder brothers.
"Dad, the fault is ours together. Sister’s very young; we didn’t do a good job taking care of her. Please don’t hit Sister—we’re willing to take the punishment."
"It’s our fault, Dad. Don’t punish Sister. Hit me instead—I’m tough!"
Ji Chao and Ji Ze spoke up simultaneously, taking responsibility.
Ji Muye cast them a glance: "You two can speak later."
The Little Dumpling in his arms was now settled face-to-face in his lap, turning her head away to avoid meeting his gaze.
Mom had never hit her butt!
She didn’t want to acknowledge her "cheap Dad" anymore!
Ji Muye gazed down at the tiny form clenched tightly in his arms, lips biting hard as she stubbornly held back tears, refusing to make a sound. He didn’t let his heart soften.
After pausing briefly, he added, "Lu Nuonuo, you’re only two years old and you’re already chasing cars. If you were older, would you consider chasing planes next?"
"Such a small person with such a big nerve. What if something happened to you? What would Mommy and Daddy do then?"
The words were heavy with tension.
Just the thought of it made Ji Muye’s chest tighten with fear.
She turned her face back toward his and stared into his eyes. Her tiny face full of stubbornness, she muttered, "I—I’ll apologize to Mommy."
Her voice trailed off into a soft whimper filled with grievance by the end.
Seeing his daughter’s big, round, dark eyes brimming with tears, Ji Muye retrieved a handkerchief from his pocket, sighed heavily, and softened his tone. "Nuonuo, whether or not you recognize me as your dad, you are my daughter."
"What you did chasing the car was extremely dangerous. If the car ahead had braked suddenly, none of your three toy cars would’ve stayed intact. You absolutely cannot do something like this again. Understand?"
Ji Chao wanted to explain the reasoning behind his sister’s actions, but Ji Ze grabbed his hand and stopped him, shaking his head at him.
Watching the dynamic between their dad and their sister, Ji Ze couldn’t help but recall how, every time he made a mistake, Dad would sternly reprimand him before calmly explaining what the right thing to do was. Although his tone was a bit harsh, Ji Ze knew deep down that Dad loved him.
Just like... Dad loved their sister.
Maybe this incident would help bring Dad closer to their sister!
The Little Dumpling heard her "cheap Dad’s" words and could no longer hold back her tears, which rolled down one by one.
She refused to look into his eyes, pressing her forehead to his chest, silently shedding golden teardrops in his arms. Her tiny shoulders shook, making her look unbearably pitiful.
Ji Muye gently patted her back and said, "Nuonuo, Dad’s tone just now was a bit harsh."
His approach was to reprimand first, then admit fault.
He had expected the strict tone to leave a negative impression in his daughter’s heart, but instead, she murmured...
