Chapter 372: Chapter 372: As Soon as the Person Leaves, He Collapses!
Ji Muye curled his lips, a hint of coldness flashing in his eyes.
Clutching the wound on his abdomen, he struggled to get out of bed, startling Ma Sai, who hurriedly rushed over to support him. "Boss, what are you trying to do? Your wound needs time to heal; you shouldn’t be moving around right now!"
The injuries on his legs were mainly scrapes, but the truly severe wound was on his abdomen.
Just a couple of movements had already made the wound ache faintly again.
Ji Muye sat at the edge of the bed with effort and said hoarsely, "Bring me a clean set of clothes."
"Boss, you wouldn’t be thinking of going to find Miss Lu at this hour, would you? It’s already almost ten o’clock! Even if you’re not afraid to die, Miss Lu is probably already asleep! You can’t seriously plan to wake her up, only to get scolded and sent back here, right?"
Ma Sai had always been the straightforward type, unfiltered but sensible.
In his understanding of Lu Xining, if she really saw Ji Muye showing up at this moment, all battered and bruised, she might just call him crazy and walk away.
Ji Muye: "..."
Given their current relationship, Lu Xining might not even come out of the door and would directly ask him to leave.
His long fingers clenched tightly around the edge of the mattress as he turned his head toward Ma Sai. His tone was heavy and deliberate, "Have someone go back and fetch the Royal Cruise dinner invitation."
Every time there was a Royal Cruise dinner, the Ji Family would receive an invitation, though Old Sir Ji would never attend.
When Ji Muye took over Shi’an Group, he was uninterested in these shadowy gatherings as well, focusing wholeheartedly on the company’s operations and paying no attention to events like the Royal Cruise dinner.
He couldn’t rest assured letting Lu Xining board alone. The best course of action was to accompany her.
At the villa, Lu Xining closed the storybook in her hands and glanced at Lu Nuonuo, who was nestled between Ji Chao and Ji Ze, fast asleep. A faint smile tugged at her lips.
A bed over two meters wide was more than spacious enough for three children.
The siblings looked so docile and adorable as they slept that she lost herself in the sight.
Today, Lu Nuonuo had stubbornly insisted on sleeping with her two brothers. The bed in the children’s room was fine for two kids, but for three, it became cramped. Putting two beds together was troublesome, so Lu Xining let them sleep in the master bedroom, while she moved to the adjacent children’s room.
Switching off the small nightlight on the bedside table, Lu Xining tiptoed away from the master bedroom.
The next morning.
Lu Nuonuo was already awake early on, wearing soft and fluffy one-piece pajamas. She was huffing and puffing as she stuffed her little snacks into her mother’s suitcase.
She’d made up her mind the night before to leave her candy for her mom.
Without her, the little bundle of joy, around, her mom could eat the candy to perk up whenever she felt sad.
Ji Chao also placed his favorite storybook into Lu Xining’s suitcase. Next to the storybook and snacks was a small toy car.
It was Ji Ze’s favorite Transformer car.
All three kids packed their current favorite belongings into Lu Xining’s suitcase.
Before executing their plan, they even remembered to lock the door, preparing to surprise their mom.
The three siblings’ carefully prepared "gifts" quickly filled Lu Xining’s entire suitcase to the brim.
Looking at the overflowing contents, Ji Chao sat on a small stool, hesitating as he said, "Sister, is it too stuffed? Mom won’t have space for clothes."
The Little Dumpling, who had been about to tuck in her pink little fox stuffed toy, blinked her eyes as she peeked out from behind the fox’s head. Taking a look at the already stacked suitcase, she quietly put her toy back into her own box.
"Then I won’t put the little fox in."
They started to sort and pick through the items again, busying themselves in the wardrobe for quite a while before finally closing the suitcase and placing it back where it was.
Lu Xining knocked on the door and saw the three kids already dressed neatly.
Even her over-two-year-old daughter was dressed properly.
She regarded the three children with surprise and asked, "Why are you up so early today?"
"Why do the three of you look so flushed? Did you play tag first thing this morning?"
The twins and Lu Nuonuo exchanged glances, noting each other’s flushed cheeks from dragging the suitcase. They quickly shook their heads, saying, "Nope."
Lu Nuonuo spun around happily in front of her, giggling as she said, "Mommy, look! My brothers dressed me!"
In winter, her pajamas had inner layers of thermals, so all it took was slipping another outfit on top.
Ji Chao respected his sister’s preferences and dressed her accordingly, like putting clothes on a life-sized doll.
"Mom, I styled Sister’s hair!" Ji Ze wore a face full of anticipation, clearly waiting to be praised.
Lu Xining stroked the heads of both boys, offering praise generously, "Xiao Chao and Xiao Ze are so great!"
Then she met her daughter’s gaze and added, "Nuonuo is amazing too."
To prevent their mom from discovering the wardrobe chaos, Lu Nuonuo quickly took her hand and began walking toward the elevator.
"Mommy, Nuonuo is hungry. Let’s go eat breakfast!"
Ji Ze quickly shut the master bedroom door.
Ji Chao was already standing by the elevator, having pressed the button. The three kids ushered Lu Xining into the elevator, their clearly suspicious behavior leaving her utterly bewildered.
Breakfast was still being prepared by Fu Junhang.
Time was tight, and there wasn’t enough to apply for a private jet route. Fu Junhang simply chartered a plane.
On the road to the airport with the children, Lu Xining couldn’t help but feel a deep sense of longing.
At the airport VIP lounge.
"Daddy!" Ji Ze spotted Ji Muye and joyfully darted into his arms.
Ji Chao held Lu Nuonuo’s hand and followed behind Ji Ze as they ran toward him.
The Little Dumpling, her bright eyes sparkling, sniffled slightly, catching the familiar scent of her "cheap dad." Huh? Her frail and needy "cheap dad" was injured again?
Lu Xining was also a bit surprised to see the man show up here.
As a doctor, her sharp eyes immediately saw through Ji Muye’s pretense upon first sight. She turned to Ji Ze and said, "Ji Ze, come here to Mommy."
Though puzzled, the child obediently complied and walked up to her.
Ji Muye gave his steadier eldest son a hug and reminded him, "Xiao Chao, take care of yourself out there. If anything happens, call Dad, got it?"
When it came to Lu Nuonuo, she suddenly froze in place, leading Ji Muye to assume she was resisting his embrace.
The next moment!
He heard his daughter whisper in his ear, "Uncle, why are you so weak? Always bleeding."
Ji Muye: "..."
The Little Dumpling was careful to hug him at an angle that avoided his wound.
She stood still, gazing intently at Ji Muye’s lips, reaching out to touch his mouth corners, and even tiptoeing to check if he hadn’t applied lip balm.
Ji Muye let her do as she pleased, his heart melting into tenderness as he marveled at her sensitive and perceptive thoughts.
"So, I’m always sick because Uncle is weak too, huh." Lu Nuonuo suddenly wore an expression of realization, her face now clouded with deliberation. Internally, she pondered: Mommy is so strong, so it couldn’t be her; the weak one must be the "cheap dad."
"Uncle, do you not like eating? You need to eat more to boost your immunity!"
Although his daughter hadn’t addressed him as Daddy, that sentence—"because Uncle is weak too"—was essentially her subtle admission that part of her genes came from him.
He curled his lips, as though candy had been found in his jar of ailments.
Ji Muye: "...Alright."
The boarding time arrived.
Lu Xining and Ji Muye stood at the departure point, watching Fu Junhang carry the Little Dumpling with one arm while holding Ji Chao and Ji Ze’s hands with the other. Their figures gradually faded into the distance.
As soon as they left, the man staggered in her direction.
"Ji Muye!"
