Chapter 1230: Chapter 1249: Figured It Out
Nan Fei said to herself, "It must be because of the intense training over the past two months. You have no idea, Jiang Yang, how exhausting it is. Every day, I felt so exhausted I wanted to die, but thankfully, I persevered. Now, I can take down three to five grown men all by myself, no problem."
"Sister Nan Fei is amazing," Jiang Yang flattered like a sycophant. "My Sister Nan Fei is the best."
"Hahaha..." Nan Fei laughed along. "I also think I’m the best."
The siblings burst out laughing together.
Outside the door, two people who had been standing silently heard the clear laughter from inside and also showed knowing smiles. Huo Beijiang elbowed Wei Qin and said in a rascally tone, "You can relax now, right? Our family’s issues are not for you to worry about."
"Yes!" Wei Qin sighed and followed Huo Beijiang towards Maple Garden.
By that time, the second floor’s large balcony at Maple Garden had been turned into a glass conservatory, warm even in winter. It was Wei Qin’s first visit, and as he entered the garden house, basking in the warm sunlight, he couldn’t help but squint his eyes and jest, "No wonder none of you return to the compound; this place is indeed more comfortable than the compound."
Over the years, the economic development had been so rapid that many villa facilities outside had long surpassed those in the compound.
Thus, some young people chose not to live in the compound anymore but moved outside, returning only during festivals or family events. The compound housed mostly old leaders and senior military officers.
That was because the security there was the best.
In fact, given Huo Beijiang’s status, he was supposed to live in the compound, where there were family doctors and security guards—amenities unmatched by the outside world.
"It’s not about comfort; it’s mainly that wherever my wife lives, I’ll live," Huo Beijiang said as he sat down on a rattan chair and gestured for Wei Qin to sit as well. Once they both settled down, he asked, "What brings you here? Is your body even allowing you to run around like this?"
Little Wang quickly brought over hot tea and a full set of tea equipment, his skill surpassing that of the absent Zuo Xinyao.
Wei Qin picked up the teacup and took a sip of the nourishing barley tea, his brows relaxing slightly.
"I am a thinking, living person who nobody can restrict," he said calmly and composedly.
"Heh!" Huo Beijiang scoffed. "Really? I was not aware of that. Who was it that knew I was leaving Imperial City and had agreed to send me off, yet never showed up?"
"That was so many years ago, and you still remember it," Wei Qin said with a resigned smile.
"That’s right, I’m very good at holding grudges."
Wei Qin shook his head, slowly finishing his cup of tea, then refilled it. As he finished pouring, he noticed Huo Beijiang staring at him intently, his expression a bit more stern.
"Speak!"
"It’s not for me to speak, but for you," Huo Beijiang said, frowning deeply, his demeanor solemn. "Your identity and physical condition don’t allow you to run around like this. Your actions are already worrying countless people and have also brought trouble to Jiang Yang."
Wei Qin gave a bitter smile. "I just wanted to see him."
"But this could make Jiang Yang enter those people’s radar and eventually turn him into a second you. You didn’t have a choice back then due to circumstances, but Jiang Yang is different; he has the right to choose his own future path."
"Do you want to acknowledge him?" Huo Beijiang asked sharply.
