Chapter 1548: Chapter 1548 Unreasonable 6
Ye Xiangqian quickly covered his mouth, glanced nervously at the whitewashed wall, unsure if Shen Qing next door had overheard their conversation. Luckily, he had made up his mind—Shen Feng wouldn’t have to go hungry in the future.
"Alright, alright, go to sleep now. Tomorrow your Uncle Lu has the day off, so I’ll take you to buy groceries early in the morning and deliver them over."
Ye Yan happily closed his eyes.
As the saying goes, one good turn deserves another. The Lu Family treated Ye Yan well, which left Ye Xiangqian profoundly grateful, so naturally, he reciprocated with even greater kindness. Before dawn, he ran to the food service cooperative to buy a large slab of pork belly, spending all of his meat tickets. He also bought a rack of ribs and a pile of radishes and greens. After returning, he took his son to a restaurant to purchase forty assorted steamed buns and ten fried dough sticks. Before leaving, he didn’t forget to remind the chef, "I’ve left the money with you. At noon, prepare a braised carp and a braised pork knuckle for me. I’ll come pick them up then."
He had already checked to make sure the restaurant had fish supply today, so he wasn’t making it difficult for the chef.
Lu Jiang, as usual, came back from his morning run and coincidentally ran into the father and son at their door. Seeing the large bags they were carrying, he couldn’t help but ask, "Why so generous?"
"Didn’t buy much, just some meat tickets about to expire—better use them than let them go to waste." Ye Xiangqian grinned as he replied.
He had remembered that Lu Jiang was off today but had overlooked the fact that Feng Qingxue was on duty.
So, at noon, after the meal was ready, Lu Jiang had his family and Ye Xiangqian’s father-and-son duo start eating first. He himself delivered food to his wife. Wrapped in a small quilt, the large lunchbox was half filled with white rice, while braised ribs, braised pork, and braised pork knuckle took up the remaining space. The bright red, oily sauce seeped into the rice, carrying an aroma that was impossible to resist.
"I can’t finish this," Feng Qingxue said, picking up a piece of braised pork and shoving it into his mouth.
She had her own private office, and with only the on-duty doctors and nurses around—everyone else eating in the hospital cafeteria—there was no one to intrude on their time together.
Lu Jiang opened his mouth and ate it. "You eat; there’s still plenty at home. Comrade Ye Xiangqian bought a lot of meat dishes."
"So generous." Feng Qingxue retracted her chopsticks and continued to eat, head lowered. "It’s all meat. Why didn’t you add some greens to the lunchbox? You don’t just eat a whole table of meat, do you? Isn’t it too greasy?"
Lu Jiang laughed heartily. "There’s vegetables, just didn’t pack them for you. In the army, meals are allocated by rank. The orderlies and attendants don’t get to eat much meat, and even I don’t have meat every day. How could it ever feel greasy? I had Zu Lei prepare some salted pork with radishes and steam a dried fowl. Those in the army have big appetites. It’s rare to have a feast, so I made sure they could eat to their heart’s content."
Feng Qingxue gave a soft "hmm" in response, eating while pulling out a few oranges to hand him.
After Lu Jiang finished the oranges, she had also finished her meal. Half of the leftovers in the lunchbox were handed to Lu Jiang to eat. Then she tidied up the orange peels, opened the window to air out the room. Fortunately, the smell of the food masked the citrus aroma, and no suspicions arose throughout the afternoon.
After Lu Jiang left, Feng Qingxue spent her time reading. The international medical journals she had received by post were full of valuable knowledge worth studying.
It was a relatively quiet day. Feng Qingxue finished her shift on time and, as she stepped out of the hospital, ran into Su Meixiang.
Su Meixiang, pulling along Shen Feng, walked toward her. "Sister Qingxue, don’t rush off. Could you take a look at my little Feng? Is it possible that his head injury from the fight with Ye Yan last time left some after-effects? He keeps complaining about headaches."
Hearing this, Feng Qingxue immediately had a bad feeling.
...A sister’s pain is something only a sister can truly understand. Coinciding perfectly with the first day, crying through it... ten thousand words wrapped up. Let’s all pray that Xibao, the little chubby one, comes home soon. Stop playing around on my computer; the little chubby one insists on leaning on me while I type, nearly smashing my computer to bits.
