Chapter 1547: Chapter 1547 Unreasonable 5

Shen Qing heard the words and suddenly remembered that Ye Yan had been staying at the Lu Family recently.

Under the faint moonlight and lamplight, Shen Qing noticed that Ye Yan seemed a bit chubbier than when he saw him two months ago. His complexion was excellent, his face carried more smiles, and he was wearing a set of new clothes.

"Ye Yan seems to be living quite well at Army Commander Lu’s house!" Shen Qing remarked.

Ye Xiangqian thought of the Shen Family matters he’d heard about earlier that day, his mind shifted, and he said with a smile, "Army Commander Lu always says he’s a soldier brought up by my father, very sentimental and nostalgic. Sister Qingxue also often mentions how my parents were so kind to Xibao when they were stationed at the border defense. Now they’ve turned around and treated Ye Yan exceptionally well, no different from their own child. Otherwise, why would you say he’s reluctant to leave?"

"Who is Xibao?" Shen Qing found the name unfamiliar, though he knew that Lu Tianhui’s nickname was Fubao.

"The eldest son of Army Commander Lu. His nickname is Xibao, and his full name is Lu Tianmao. He’s an especially clever child, currently living with Army Commander Lu’s elderly father in their countryside hometown," Ye Xiangqian said, lowering his gaze to look at his son. "If only this little rascal weren’t so determined to stick with me, I even thought of sending him to my parents."

Ye Yan immediately grabbed his sleeve, shaking his head fervently, "Dad, I’ll behave. Please don’t send me to Grandpa and Grandma’s house. I don’t want to go there; I want to stay with you."

"Alright, alright, I won’t send you, I won’t send you. You’re my only son, how could I bear letting you leave?" Ye Xiangqian hurriedly comforted him.

Only then did Ye Yan settle down.

Shen Qing couldn’t help but feel a bit envious, "You guys better head upstairs. It’s awfully cold tonight; don’t let the child freeze."

"You too, get home early and take care of yourself."

"Mm!"

Shen Qing wandered around the courtyard for a while, then spent three dollars and eighty cents at a restaurant to buy a serving of Peach Blossom Noodles. He didn’t bring a lunchbox, so he carried the noodles and bowl back home. Shen Feng immediately beamed with joy and devoured the food ravenously.

Su Meixiang swallowed a few gulps of saliva but, seeing that Shen Qing showed no intention of offering her some, she stormed off to the bedroom and locked the door in anger.

Shen Qing didn’t pay her any mind and slept in the same room with his son that evening. In a low voice, he said to him, "Tomorrow morning, Daddy will go to the restaurant to pay with cash and Grain Tickets. From then on, you’ll eat at the restaurant for breakfast, lunch, and dinner every day. You can order whatever you want, but you’re not allowed to waste food."

Shen Feng’s eyes lit up, "Really, Daddy? Can I eat meat buns tomorrow?"

"You can," Shen Qing nodded. "Daddy doesn’t ask much from you—just to be a good kid and grow up to become a valuable talent to the country. We can’t fight with others, nor can we do bad things."

"Mm!"

The Shen Family and the Ye Family were separated by just a wall. On one side was Shen Qing and his son’s bed, and on the other was Ye Xiangqian and his son’s room. The houses were poorly soundproofed, and Ye Xiangqian, who had sharp hearing, clearly overheard Shen Qing’s words. He couldn’t help but shake his head and beckon his son standing by the bedside, "Stop dawdling, hurry up and get into bed!"

Ye Yan crawled over, grumbling, "I was living just fine at Aunt Lu’s house. Dad, why do you have to bring me home? Our blankets smell bad, but Aunt Lu’s blankets are fragrant."

"You’ve taken quite a liking to it, haven’t you?" Ye Xiangqian felt a bit sour inside.

Ye Yan pounced onto the bed and rolled into his father’s arms. "Dad, I really like Aunt Lu. I like her so much, so so much. Aunt Lu is so nice—she makes me clothes and shoes, gives me delicious food, and even teaches me to read and write. Dad, is this what having a mom feels like? It must be. I think Aunt Lu is even better to me than Shen Feng’s mom is to Shen Feng. Shen Feng didn’t have enough to eat at lunch today; his stomach growled really loudly."
