Chapter 1509: Chapter 1509: Lu Jiang’s Transfer 1
Knowing which "Xi" is used for "Lu Xi," Feng Qingxue couldn’t help saying, "When Little Xi grows up, he’ll definitely resent his great-grandfather."
"Why?" Jiang Xiaoyue asked while sipping the millet porridge with brown sugar that Lu Tianzhi had brought over.
Feng Qingxue chuckled, "Too many strokes! Think about it, the character ’Xi’ is complex and hard to write. Others might be named ’Lu Yi,’ but he’s named ’Lu Xi.’ How many extra strokes do you think he’ll have to write compared to others? Even middle school kids might not recognize the character ’Xi.’"
Jiang Xiaoyue thought about it carefully and burst into laughter, "That’s true!"
Although Feng Qingxue seemed to be overthinking, Jiang Xiaoyue didn’t care at all what her son’s name was. However, Lu Family’s elder felt for his great-grandson and worried he’d genuinely resent him in the future for picking such a complicated name. After staring at his great-grandson’s flushed little face for a moment, he suggested, "Then let’s call him Lu Chen. Chen as in ’morning light.’ ’Chen’ is much easier to write than ’Xi.’"
"Lu Chen? Lu Chen, Chenchen, this name is great!" Jiang Xiaoyue exclaimed, "His nickname can be Chenchen – simple and clear."
Many years later, when young Lu Chen began school and learned to write, he finally managed to scribble his name. He was deeply grateful to his second grandmother for speaking up on his behalf when he was born, saving him from being named Lu Xi.
But that’s a story for another time.
Jiang Xiaoyue’s delivery had been relatively smooth, so she was discharged and went home the same day.
The weather in April, though chilly at night, was neither too hot nor too cold during the day – perfect for postpartum recovery.
Jiang Xiaoyue was comfortable and ate well, but she had no breast milk. Despite drinking pig’s trotter soup, carp soup, and loofah soup, nothing worked, so Lu Chen had to be fed formula. Fortunately, she and Lu Tianjun each earned double salaries, more than enough to raise their big, chubby baby boy.
Lu Tianjun had been on a mission in the days prior. Jiang Yun bore no resentment about his absence during her daughter’s delivery; instead, after hearing of the birth, she wrapped up two days of work and rushed over on the third day with bags prepared by her daughter-in-law. However, her car broke down midway, and it wasn’t until the afternoon that she arrived at the Lu Family home, fuming in frustration.
The sedan assigned to many government officials always looked glamorous, but in reality, it broke down every couple of days – something everyone had gotten used to.
Though Feng Qingxue had been lucky never to experience such an inconvenience herself, she’d heard stories. Once, several high-ranking officials from the West Mountain compound went to a meeting, and out of four cars sent, three broke down. In the end, people had to be picked up by this side driving over, using a truck.
Jiang Xiaoyue grinned and said, "Dad, don’t be upset. Come take a look at your grandson Lu Chen."
"Oh my, my dearest grandson! My first grandson! You have to call me Grandpa!" Jiang Yun joyfully cradled Lu Chen in his arms. The more he looked, the more handsome the baby seemed – incomparably handsome – and he let out a deep sigh of relief.
It wasn’t that Jiang Yun preferred boys over girls or felt that having a son justified Jiang Xiaoyue to the Lu Family more. Rather, when Jiang Xiaoyue was tipped off by Feng Qingxue, she came back and told Jiang Yun. Jiang Yun then took her to visit Guo Ming for a consultation. While Guo Ming outwardly prescribed a regimen and reassured them that proper care would lead to full recovery and that there was no need to worry, he privately informed Jiang Yun that, even with diligent care, Jiang Xiaoyue would struggle to conceive.
This matter was divulged before Jiang Xiaoyue and Lu Tianjun married, specifically when the Lu Jiang couple came to visit. Jiang Yun explained everything to Lu Tianjun.
After hearing this, Lu Tianjun immediately expressed that he valued Jiang Xiaoyue as a person, not her ability to have children. Besides, he had several younger brothers, so continuity for the Lu Family was not a concern.
Having served in the military and heard many stories of predecessors, what could he possibly not accept?
This was one of the reasons Jiang Yun was so thoroughly satisfied with Lu Tianjun.
