Chapter 329: Chapter 328: Do you, Situ Zha, think you are righteous?
The little auntie of the CEO was currently having her meal.
The Kindergarten’s lunch was quite sumptuous and similar to what Mianmian would have at the Su Family home. She ate quietly with big bites and was the first to finish. She obediently returned her bowl to the Nursery Teacher and then sat in the reading corner to read a book, as the teacher had requested.
Gu Youyou hadn’t had a meal with Mianmian in a long time and didn’t expect her to eat so quickly, which made her hurry to eat faster as well.
Situ Zha hadn’t finished his meal either.
Seeing that Mianmian had finished, he also quickly shoveled the food into his mouth.
Pan Li also ate quickly. Seeing Mianmian reading alone in the book corner, his eyes rolled slyly, and he moved closer to her.
After his deliberate blocking of Mianmian and Gu Youyou had been noticed earlier, Pan Li decided to switch to a different approach.
He brought his chair close to Mianmian, pretended to walk past her but actually stretched out his foot intending to step on her. As he stepped down, he thought proudly: Dad always took him to play with an aunt, and that aunt told him that in the Kindergarten, if someone bullied him, he could pass by that person and step on the child’s foot.
As long as he looked ahead, stepping on the foot wouldn’t be noticed, and even if the teacher saw it, he wouldn’t be scolded because it wasn’t on purpose.
That aunt was so nice to him, even nicer than his mom, so this time he surely wouldn’t be scolded!
Pan Li was full of pride, thinking that this time he would definitely make the little bald kid cry.
But when his foot came down, he found that he stepped on nothing.
Upon looking down, Pan Li saw that Mianmian had already moved both of her feet aside and continued to read without even glancing at him.
"Why did you put your feet over here?" Pan Li asked angrily.
Mianmian shifted her gaze from the book to Pan Li and tilted her head, saying, "To make space for you."
Pan Li was indignant but couldn’t admit that he intended to step on Mianmian’s foot. He sat down on the chair angrily and picked a book to read at random.
After picking up the book, Pan Li wasn’t content to sit still and after reading a couple of pages, he stood up again to repeat his antics.
He also wanted to swing his arms and stretch, aiming to hit Mianmian’s face and head.
But every one of his plans was dodged by Mianmian. Her movements were small, merely tilting her head or lifting her hand or changing her position to read.
Liu Anan saw Pan Li’s behavior and told him to keep his movements smaller. Pan Li nodded perfunctorily and then continued what he had been doing.
Moreover, Pan Li was stubborn. With every dodge by Mianmian, he asked why.
At first, Mianmian responded, but after a while, she ignored him.
After a while, Gu Youyou and Situ Zha also came and sat down.
Situ Zha had been observing the situation and after he arrived, he plopped down next to Pan Li and imitated Pan Li’s waving. His movements were quick, and with a swift motion, he hit Pan Li’s face, making a crisp slap sound.
Pan Li was dumbfounded and holding his face, he asked Situ Zha, "Did you hit me?"
Situ Zha looked innocently, "Yeah, I just wanted to hit you like this. Isn’t it fun?"
Pan Li, realizing that the action he intended had been exposed, was so angry that he sought out the teacher: "Teacher, teacher, Situ Zha hit me."
Liu Anan had actually been right there all along.
Situ Zha had made some feint moves before striking Pan Li’s face so naturally and quickly that it really seemed like he was just turning around to grab another book.
As the event had already transpired, Liu Anan couldn’t intervene directly. The Kindergarten’s purpose was to cultivate the children’s ability to solve problems. Being in the Intermediate Class, the children needed to try to resolve conflicts on their own first, to develop their problem-solving skills. She would only intervene if they called for a teacher.
Of course, she was standing by and would certainly not let things escalate, ready to intervene before the conflict deepened.
"The teacher saw it," Liu Anan said, "Zhazha said he was turning around which proves it wasn’t on purpose. You can ask him to apologize to you. Of course, you can also choose not to forgive him."
Pan Li called out to Liu Anan, hoping Liu Anan would scold Situ Zha, but instead of scolding him, Liu Anan simply told him he didn’t have to forgive Situ Zha.
If it were Teacher Liao, she surely would have said that if Situ Zha didn’t apologize, he could hit back.
Pan Li wanted to hit back.
"I don’t like you; I only like Teacher Liao," Pan Li said, pushing Liu Anan and running quickly to tell on Situ Zha to Teacher Liao.
Teacher Liao felt a headache coming on when she heard the matter involved Situ Zha.
What should she do?
Other children, caught between apologizing and hitting back, would choose to apologize and then accept the punishment of standing in the corner to reflect. But Situ Zha certainly wouldn’t do that, nor would he feel that standing in the corner to think was a bad thing.
"Zhazha, are you willing to apologize to Pan Li?"
Situ Zha shook his head outright: "I won’t apologize."
Teacher Liao frowned, "Why not?"
Situ Zha gave a grin, "Because I hit him on purpose."
Teacher Liao felt like she was having a heart attack, "Why hit him on purpose?"
Situ Zha stayed silent, just looking at Teacher Liao.
When he had been at the previous kindergarten, he saw a boy pulling a girl’s hair, which he felt was unpleasant. So, he pulled the boy’s hair, wanting to help the girl.
Afterward, when the teacher found out, she only took him aside for individual criticism, accusing him of bullying.
He had explained that it was because the boy was a bully, but the teacher said the two children were good friends, just playing around. When he returned after being scolded, indeed he found the girl whose hair had been pulled still happily playing with the boy.
"People are good friends, just joking around, and you, Situ Zha, think you’re so righteous? You’re the child who likes to bully others the most."
"Because I like to bully people." Remembering what his previous teachers had said, Situ Zha looked up earnestly, "I hit him on purpose because I just enjoy bullying people."
Anyway, in the future, maybe Su Mianmian would become good friends with Pan Li, and the teacher would still say he was a child who liked to bully others. He just did what he wanted to do, like that "ghost," who also just wanted to hit and so killed.
Does it matter if others know why he did what he did?
"Zhazha didn’t hit Pan Li because he likes to bully." While Situ Zha thought this over, his hands in his pockets and an indifferent expression on his face, Mianmian’s voice came through.
Teacher Liao was taken aback, "Mianmian, how do you know?"
Mianmian spoke earnestly, "Didn’t teacher say there’s a surveillance camera? Pan Li kept trying to ’accidentally’ step on Mianmian’s foot. But Mianmian dodged it, so Mianmian thought that he hit Pan Li because of that, asking if it felt good to do so."
Upon hearing this, Teacher Liao could only say, "Then you guys wait a while; I’ll check the surveillance footage."
With that, she first sought out Liu Anan for an understanding of the situation.
After hearing Teacher Liao’s account, Liu Anan remained confused, "I was just hearing Pan Li ask Mianmian why she was moving her hands and feet, and I thought it was just an imitation dialogue from the reading corner... I’m sorry, Teacher Liao, it’s my fault."
Teacher Liao, realizing Liu Anan now believed Mianmian, felt another headache brewing.
How could this assistant teacher be so naive? How on earth was she hired by this kindergarten?
"We’re teachers; we must not view things through a filter," Teacher Liao sighed, "Just stick to the facts; don’t jump to conclusions."
Liu Anan was even more embarrassed.
She did believe Mianmian; she felt that Mianmian would not lie.
As the teacher went to check the surveillance, Situ Zha glared at Mianmian and said, "You were wrong just now, I didn’t hit him because of you, understand?"
