Chapter 185: Chapter 184: He/She Can’t Escape Either
Thankfully, there was a large sun umbrella at the entrance of the Amusement Park; otherwise, in such hot weather, people could easily get uncomfortably sunburnt.
After a while, Liu Anan’s little electric scooter appeared in everyone’s view.
She was drenched in sweat and said apologetically, "Sorry, sorry, I’m a bit late."
Cui Liang and Zhou Jing were even more surprised. The person Su’s big boss was waiting for was a girl riding an electric scooter? What kind of fate had brought them together?
"No problem," Su Chenjin replied to Liu Anan and said, "Let’s go."
Seeing that Su Chenjin had no intention of introducing the girl he had come with, Zhou Jing didn’t ask any further questions and immediately began to lead the way.
The situation was just as Liu Anan had said, there were very few visitors in the Amusement Park. It should have been peak season for children to play in the amusement park during the summer vacation, yet the place was empty.
Zhou Jing’s introduction was simple and straightforward.
"Coming in through the entrance, the first attraction is the Merry-go-round, 15 yuan. Adults can take their children on it, and children under 1.3 meters can also ride."
"Over here we have the rotating coffee cups, same price."
As they kept going until the Ferris wheel, Liu Anan stretched out her hand and pointed towards the waiting area of the Ferris wheel, "It’s right here."
Following Liu Anan’s gaze, Zhou Jing saw nothing and, after thinking for a moment, decided to speak frankly, "Mr. Su, there are indeed some bad rumors around this Ferris wheel. Some children say they see strange people here always crying, which is why fewer and fewer people come."
"If you want to use these rumors to push down the price, you can do that. But if the price is pressed too harshly, we wouldn’t be happy to sell."
Her tone cooled, suspecting Liu Anan was a local hired by Su Chenjin, on guard against dishonesty from them.
In fact, Zhou Jing had prepared to talk about the rumors, but only after giving the introduction. Before hearing about the Su Family’s rumored interest in acquiring the Amusement Park, she and Cui Liang had been discussing taking a trip around the world.
Traveling the world requires funds, and the Amusement Park and Zoo haven’t had much visitor traffic, having lost money in recent years. They were also a hassle to manage. The couple had been considering selling it to the other shareholders, dividing the money according to their shares so they could either rest comfortably or plan to do something else later on.
But traveling the world wasn’t an imperative goal. Changing it to a long vacation and keeping the assets wasn’t a bad idea either.
"It’s up to you," Zhou Jing simply blurted out, "It would be best if you could give us an answer today."
As an old hand at business, Su Chenjin could of course see what Zhou Jing was thinking.
He wasn’t the type to explain himself, and he responded with indifference, "Hmm."
With only that word, Su Chenjin, holding Mianmian, walked towards the area beneath the Ferris wheel.
Mianmian was looking up at the Ferris wheel, curious.
The Ferris wheel wasn’t operating, and among the things Mianmian could see, one of the Ferris wheel’s "little houses" indeed housed a mass that was emitting a dark mist, like an evil spirit.
There was also a bunch of chains, tightly binding the dark Qi from the bottom up.
Although she could see it, there were still some visitors in the Amusement Park, so Mianmian couldn’t use her Flying Sword to ascend. She could only speak softly to her great-nephew, "There really is something inside. It looks like the Dark Qi is especially thick, probably quite ferocious. Great-nephew, what do we do? There are other people here."
With people around, if a commotion began, the area could become chaotic, and these people might end up being taken as hostages.
Su Chenjin glanced around and said to Jin Tai, "Go sign the contract."
With a beaming smile, Jin Tai opened his briefcase and gestured for the couple to take a seat on the nearby chairs, "Mr. and Mrs. Owner, shall we get started then?"
The couple hadn’t quite gotten into the groove yet, exchanging glances, their eyes filled with bewilderment: Are we signing the contract just like that?
Zhou Jing thought even more about it. She had already stated that she wouldn’t accept a low offer, so surely Su Chenjin wouldn’t force a purchase, right?
So they decided to first hear what Jin Tai had to say.
Jin Tai, beaming with joy, said, "Ladies and gentlemen, the Zoo and the Amusement Park cover areas of 300,000 and 250,000 square meters respectively. Taking into account the investment from ten years ago for the opening, as well as all the existing animals, buildings and facilities within the park, and given the current prices, our Company’s acquisition budget is 5 billion and 4.5 billion respectively. I wonder if you find this price satisfactory?"
"This is the draft contract, please take a moment to look it over."
Jin Tai handed the pre-drafted contracts to the couple, waiting for them to read.
The truth was, the signing process wasn’t usually conducted this way. For such a major transaction, they would probably need to wait for Cui Liang and Zhou Jing to call for a shareholder conference, possibly requiring lawyers and notaries for various details.
But Jin Tai had orders from the boss to sign the contract and he had to obey. What else could he do?
"The contract is here, just waiting for the stamp and signature. Why don’t you consult with the shareholders now, and if they agree, we can finalize the deal right away. You can discuss the specifics with the shareholders later?"
Jin Tai made his point very clear. Cui Liang and Zhou Jing, after reviewing their copies of the contract and then each other’s, could hardly believe it.
Due to losing money for so long, both had felt that getting back the invested capital would have been enough. Even with the price increase compared to eight years ago, their initial estimate was 7 billion in total; yet now, the Su Family was offering an additional 25 billion.
Was this money just falling from the sky?
With a penchant for jokes, Cui Liang couldn’t help but ask Jin Tai, "Is President Su here to perform an act of charity?"
Jin Tai laughed, "Perhaps, we subordinates wouldn’t dare guess the boss’s thoughts. So do me a favor and sign the contract now, so I can report back to the boss."
Zhou Jing wanted to sign too, but she still felt she should speak bluntly, "There have been safety incidents over the years, and we’ve paid compensation. There are also rumors about the Amusement Park being haunted, you must know about these issues? Are you really planning to continue operating the Amusement Park?"
Jin Tai raised an eyebrow, "These are all minor issues, don’t worry, we’ll have professionals deal with them. Hurry up and sign it."
Cui Liang glanced at Zhou Jing, "Let’s sign, honey. The other shareholders have wanted to sell for some time, and they’ve discussed the price with us before. This is already way beyond our budgeted price."
Zhou Jing, usually the most straightforward one, now grew increasingly uneasy as the money increased.
After hesitating for a while, they signed the contract and stamped it with the seals they carried with them. Looking at Chenjin’s signature and seal, Zhou Jing asked, "Do you have something you must do today?"
Jin Tai replied, "Are you curious? If so, stick around and watch."
Having said that, Jin Tai immediately contacted the bodyguards who had been arranged earlier, gave his instructions, and mentioned the part where Zhou Jing needed to cooperate, "Please, Ms. Zhou, announce early closure over the broadcast now, and let the staff leave work early, we’ll still pay their salaries. The Zoo side can continue as usual."
Zhou Jing called the Broadcasting Room and told them to do as instructed.
Soon after, loudspeakers throughout the Amusement Park announced the early closure for the day and promised compensation with vouchers to the visitors. The small shops that leased space inside the park to sell food and drinks were baffled by the news. Why was the park closing early?
They each called Zhou Jing.
Zhou Jing was prepared, she bluntly stated that the boss was planning a change of management and that the losses from the early closure would be factored into the refunded rent, smoothly resolving the issue.
After she finished the calls, she heard Chenjin say, "Jin Tai, let’s have lunch first."
Little Auntie must be hungry; best to let her eat first before putting her to work.
Actually, Chenjin wanted to let Little Auntie take a nap too, since all of his plans for the day were right there.
On the Ferris wheel, a shadow suddenly moved.
The blurry figure of a person stood on the edge of the cabin, looking down from a high vantage point, turning its head left and right. It was as if it was pondering what the people below were planning to do.
Even if it knew that the people below were attempting to capture it, with chains on its body, there was no chance for it to escape, only to struggle within the confined space.
