Chapter 44: Shatter at a Glance

Chapter 44: Shatter at a Glance

After finishing his meditation session in the garden, Echo stretched his arms, feeling a faint warmth lingering inside him. He wasn’t sure if he had absorbed much energy, but the process itself was strangely refreshing.

Raylan nodded approvingly. "Not bad for your first day. Keep practicing, and you’ll see progress."

Echo grinned. "Got it, Dad."

"Come on, let’s eat."

At the mention of food, Echo’s stomach rumbled loudly, making both him and Raylan chuckle.

They walked back into the house, where Eileen had already set the table. The warm aroma of roasted meat and fresh bread filled the air, making Echo’s mouth water.

"Perfect timing," Eileen said with a smile as she placed a steaming plate in front of him. "You must be hungry after your training."

Echo nodded eagerly, grabbing a piece of meat with his fork and taking a big bite. The rich, juicy flavor melted in his mouth.

"Mmm! This is so good!"

Eileen laughed softly. "Eat as much as you want. You need strength to grow."

Raylan took a sip of his drink before speaking. "Starting tomorrow, you’ll continue meditating, but I’ll also teach you the basics of control. You might have mana, but if you don’t know how to use it efficiently, it won’t matter how much you have."

Echo swallowed his food quickly. "That makes sense. If I want to create powerful skills in the future, I need to master the basics first."

Raylan nodded approvingly. "Exactly."

They continued eating, enjoying the peaceful moment as a family.

A Late-Night Experiment

Later that night, after his parents had gone to bed, Echo sat on the floor of his small room, deep in thought.

His meditation had gone well, but something inside him was itching for more.

"I should try creating another skill."

His first attempt at skill creation had been interesting. His Flying skill worked... kind of. Even though he could only hover two centimeters off the ground, it proved that his ability was real.

But now, he wanted something better—something stronger

.

Grabbing a small piece of paper from his desk, he took a deep breath.

"What kind of skill should I make?"

His mind wandered, thinking about what kind of ability would be useful. Then, suddenly, an idea struck him.

"Shatter at a Glance."

He carefully wrote the words down on the paper.

After finishing, he stared at the phrase, his heart beating faster.

"Shatter at a Glance... If I understand this correctly, it should let me break anything just by looking at it."

The thought sent a thrill through him. If this worked, it could be incredibly powerful.

But first—he had to test it.

The First Test

Echo stood up and turned his gaze toward his bed. He focused on the wooden frame, taking a deep breath.

"Shatter at a Glance!"

Nothing happened.

He frowned.

Maybe he wasn’t focusing enough?

He tried again, staring at the bed intensely.

Still, nothing.

"Okay... maybe the bed is too big for my current energy."

He shifted his focus to the wall instead.

"Shatter at a Glance!"

Once again—nothing.

Echo groaned in frustration, rubbing his temples. "Ugh, maybe I’m not strong enough yet?"

He looked around the room, searching for something smaller to test on.

His eyes landed on a wooden water bottle sitting on his desk.

"Alright, let’s try this."

He focused on the bottle, narrowing his eyes.

"Shatter at a Glance!"

At first, nothing seemed to happen—but then, to his surprise, he noticed a tiny crack forming near the top of the bottle.

His breath caught in his throat.

"It... worked?"

Excitement surged through him.

He clenched his fists. "I just need to push harder!"

Taking a deep breath, he focused again, putting all his energy into the bottle.

"Shatter at a Glance!"

This time, the crack grew larger.

Echo’s eyes widened. "Come on, just a little more..."

Summoning all his willpower, he pushed himself to his absolute limit—

BOOM!

The bottle exploded, sending water flying everywhere!

Echo let out a startled yelp as cold droplets splashed against his face and clothes.

For a moment, he just stood there, stunned.

Then, a wide grin spread across his face.

"It worked!!"

He had actually done it.

Sure, it wasn’t perfect yet—he could only break small objects—but this was proof that his ability was real.

And if he could do this now, imagine what he could achieve in the future.

Echo clenched his fists, excitement burning in his chest.

---

Lying in bed, Echo couldn’t stop grinning. The thrill of success still pulsed through him like an electric current.

"I did it. I actually did it."

His skill worked. It wasn’t just an idea or a theory—it was real.

Sure, he had only managed to break a small water bottle, but that was just the beginning. If he kept improving, if he kept creating stronger skills...

"I will become very strong!"

That thought filled him with determination as he slowly drifted into a deep, satisfied sleep.

Breakfast and a Surprise Demonstration

The morning sunlight filtered through Echo’s window, warming his face and gently pulling him from his dreams. He stretched, feeling refreshed and energized.

"Today is going to be a good day."

With that thought, he got out of bed, changed his clothes, and made his way to the dining room, where the scent of freshly baked bread and sizzling meat filled the air.

Eileen smiled at him as he sat down. "You look happy this morning. Did something good happen?"

Echo grinned, his excitement bubbling over. "Yeah! I created a new skill last night!"

Raylan, who was cutting into his steak, raised an eyebrow. "Oh? Another skill? What is it?"

Echo sat up straighter. "It’s called ’Shatter at a Glance.’ If I focus hard enough, I can break objects just by looking at them!"

Eileen and Raylan exchanged glances, both looking skeptical.

"That... sounds hard to believe," Raylan admitted.

"It does," Eileen agreed.

Echo smirked. "Then let me prove it!"

He quickly scanned the room, looking for something to use as a test. His eyes landed on a small glass cup sitting on the table.

"Perfect."

Taking a deep breath, Echo narrowed his eyes at the glass.

"Shatter at a Glance!"

For a moment, nothing happened.

Then—

CRACK!

The glass shattered into tiny fragments, scattering across the table in an instant.

Eileen gasped, covering her mouth in shock.

Raylan’s eyes widened as he stared at the broken glass.

A heavy silence filled the room.

Echo grinned. "See? I told you!"
