Chapter 554: Chapter 344.3

"Then I’ll help you launch the dinghy, and pick you up later." Jiang Luoluo also wanted to do something she could manage, as cooking hadn’t started yet.

Seeing that she truly wanted to come along, Chu Mingcheng no longer refused.

He then went to the stern of the sailboat and opened the small boat cabin at the back.

His sailboat was quite advanced; he pressed a button, and the cabin automatically opened, even actively launching the dinghy into the water, entirely eliminating the need for manual handling.

Less expensive sailboats certainly didn’t have this feature, and some didn’t even have a cabin for storing the dinghy, which had to be hung on the deck instead.

Then in case of windy and wavy weather, the dinghy could be blown away directly.

Chu Mingcheng had encountered such a situation during his learning days at the club. He saw the dinghy about to be blown away and foolishly tried to hold it himself, only to be lifted off his feet.

If he hadn’t been vigilant and grabbed him in time, that person would probably have been gone.

In such stormy weather, a single wave could sweep a person away hundreds of meters, and even with Chu Mingcheng’s excellent swimming skills, it was unlikely he would have successfully found him in the water.

After grabbing a bucket and cable ties, the two sat in the dinghy and made their way to the mudflats.

Chu Mingcheng was wearing shorts, so he didn’t need to roll up his trouser legs.

Those waterproof trousers were uncomfortable even for people who often went down to the mudflats; they made walking there quite strenuous.

Chu Mingcheng’s physical condition was exceptionally strong, causing his weight to be somewhat over the standard.

He had gone from around 150 pounds to 200 pounds, but in appearance, it was mostly well-developed muscle, though not exaggerated, and looked perfect.

So, as soon as he stepped onto the mudflats, his long legs immediately sank down to his thighs.

Fortunately, Chu Mingcheng was strong enough to easily pull his thighs out, making a "plop" sound.

He started looking for the burrows of green crabs, and whenever he found one, he would pretend to reach in, though he had actually activated a cheat.

After a little while, Chu Mingcheng caught a large green crab.

However, this green crab weighed a full pound, clearly indicating it wasn’t a butter crab without even having to look.

After rinsing the mud off its body in a water pit, Chu Mingcheng picked it up again for a closer inspection.

Upon noticing its fatness, he took out the cable ties, secured its snapping claws, and tossed it to Jiang Luoluo on the dinghy.

She caught the green crab and curiously looked at it, "Is this a butter crab?"

Chu Mingcheng shook his head, "No, butter crabs usually don’t live to get this big. Ones that are about eight taels are considered big among butter crabs. I saw this fat green crab and just took the opportunity to catch it for an extra dish later."

"Okay," Jiang Luoluo nodded, placing the green crab into the bucket.

As time passed, about twenty minutes later, Chu Mingcheng roughly washed a newly caught green crab and suddenly had a realization.

This green crab’s shell was slightly yellow; he flipped it over, straightened its legs, and checked the joints.

He then found the joints were an orange-yellow color while the joints of a normal green crab are white, clearly indicating that this was a high-quality butter crab, and a prime one at that.

The yellower the joints, the better the quality of the butter crab.

"Luoluo, I caught a butter crab!"

"Really? Show me quickly!" Jiang Luoluo, who had been somewhat bored, immediately perked up and hurried over in the dinghy.

After taking the butter crab from Chu Mingcheng’s hands, she examined it thoroughly, comparing it with other green crabs in the bucket, then suddenly realized, "Is it by the color of the crab shell that you distinguish a butter crab?"

"The shell isn’t a reliable indicator, you have to look at the leg joints; if the joints are yellow, those are the ones," Chu Mingcheng explained.

"I see!" Jiang Luoluo inspected the leg joints of the two green crabs, nodded, and felt enlightened.
