Bai Meiyue smiled and agreed. She finished her breakfast and allowed Lei Qian to accompany her on a walk outside. However, just as the two of them stepped out of the building, her ears caught the buzzing of the spider cameras that were scattered all over the base.

She raised her head and looked at the many cameras that were shining under the light. Her eyes glinted sharply as Bai Meiyue dropped her head and turned to look at Lei Qian. Bai Meiyue froze the cameras surrounding them, and she questioned in a soft voice, "Did you find the control centre of these cameras?"

"Not yet. I sent Wan Guofu and Yang Chunhua to keep an eye on the cameras. They have scattered all over the base to make sure that they don’t miss the cameras going in and out of the control centre. I believe they will soon find out the track of these cameras and where they come in and out of."

Since this was an assassination attempt, they couldn’t make any noise. They couldn’t allow any mistakes to happen, which meant that Lei Qian’s team couldn’t leave the building at the same time. They could at most act separately, like they were going on a hunt and returning after hunting.

Naturally, it was going to take some time.

Bai Meiyue nodded after she was done listening to Lei Qian. She knew that the man was doing everything that he could at the moment. The only thing she was worried about was the mansion that she had chosen as her new home. She wondered if the mansion would be ready by the time they leave this base.

She turned to look at Lei Qian, wanting to ask him about whether he had sent a few more people for the mansion’s cleanup, but before she could do that, a few men walked over to where she was standing. Seeing them march over, Bai Meiyue frowned. As she couldn’t understand what the men were trying to do by surrounding her and Bai Meiyue.

Just as she thought that they were here to cause trouble, the man in the middle bowed in front of her. He said to her, "Thank you for taking us in, Miss Bai. If you and your medical team had not helped us, then we would have died."

Only then did Bai Meiyue recall that these men were the patients who left the medical facility a few days ago. She nodded and waved her hand at them. She said, "There is no need for you to thank me.. I didn’t do anything. It’s Doctor Zhou and Doctor Chu who took care of you. You should thank them."

"They asked us to thank you."

"We are willing to join your team to thank you, Miss Bai."

"Miss Bai, I am a wood ability user. I am sure that I will certainly be of some use to you and your team."

Bai Meiyue: "..."

"You should recuperate first," said Bai Meiyue with a calm expression. "Even if you are eager to help us, you should first take care of yourself. There is no point in jumping around when your wounds are still healing."

Asking these injured ability users to work for her would only cause trouble for her. If they got even more injured in their hurry to prove their worth to her and her team, then Bai Meiyue was worried that they would end up becoming a drag for their team. Bai Meiyue was rational but she was not a Holy Mother; she wouldn’t raise useless people.

If these ability users got seriously injured, who would take care of them?

When the ability users heard Bai Meiyue’s response, they stopped jumping around. Though they wished to join Bai Meiyue’s team and start going on missions with Lei Qian, they were not stupid. If they wanted to make sure that Bai Meiyue would use them in the future, they needed to first get better. Only then would they be able to showcase their strength in front of Bai Meiyue well enough.

What was more, after staying in the medical ward for so long, they realised staying with Bai Meiyue was better. They could buy clean water, vegetables, meat and rice at a reasonable price and they didn’t have to hand in extra supplies in exchange. Mother Bai was also kind; when she found out that they had lost their families in the apocalypse, she gave them a special discount. Thus, they only needed a few crystal nuclei to buy these supplies.

And there was also electricity and water connected to the medical ward. According to the nurses who worked there, as long as they joined Bai Meiyue’s team, they could get an apartment with the same facilities. No one knew how in the world Bai Meiyue had so much fuel that she could run the entire three rows of apartments with electricity but no one questioned her.

She was an ability user and she had the right to keep her secret. What a joke. As if they had the strength or the ability to make this woman confess the truth, then they wouldn’t be begging for a place to stay in this place.

"Alright, we will wait until our injuries are healed and then we will go on hunts with you, Miss Bai."

The three men bowed their heads in front of Bai Meiyue once again before turning on their feet and heading inside the building.

However, Bai Meiyue didn’t know that accepting three ability users would bring her a new round of trouble.

The soldiers from Yu Miaomiao’s faction came to look for her and urged her to either join the mission or hand in the supplies.

When Bai Meiyue heard their words, she was amused and exasperated. It seemed like Yu Miaomiao was slowly running out of patience and maybe, in her mind, Bai Meiyue was becoming her competition because, unlike Yu Miaomiao, Bai Meiyue was not handing out any benefits and yet she was recruiting more ability users in her team.

In fact, it was not wrong to say they were lining up to get accepted by her.
