Lu Yin turned around on her heels and headed out of the corridor without saying anything further. But she did hand the documents that had the detailed instructions, as well as the benefits that Shen Zhen would get if she were to join the hospital of the base that was being built and still needed some of the doctors.

Of course, there were some hidden clauses that Shen Zhen would have to bring the entire team of doctors and nurses with her if she were to join the hospital of the base, but that was something that she didn’t need to know, and Lu Yin was not going to tell her either.

"Lu Yin!"

Lu Yu reached out and caught the wrist of his sister, and stopped her in her stride. He looked at her with a hint of anger in his eyes and questioned, "What was that about? Just what do you think you are trying to do?"

Her stance was casual as she looked at her brother and questioned in a low voice, "Why does it matter to me if she dies or loses her child? And you shouldn’t be bothered about it either! If you were my brother, then you would be happy for me. You would even help me by making that woman miscarry or feeding her an abortion pill!"

"You should have done anything—maybe even killed her if you had cared about me! But you didn’t; instead, you let that bastard grow in her belly even after finding out that she was pregnant with Brother Qian’s eyes. You knew that I like him..." Her eyes turned red as she breathed out loud. "You knew, but instead of helping me, you told me to give up. She shrieked. Her voice rose as she clenched her fists at her sides. "You didn’t! You never did."

Lu Yu gritted his teeth and questioned, "Did you ever stop to think that if Master Lei had ever liked you, he would have reached out to you on his own?"

"He is not a stupid toy that I can snatch from someone else and then hand to you just because you want it, Lu Yin."

Lu Yu was breathing just as harshly as Lu Yin.

He never thought that just because of her stupid crush, Lu Yin would willingly try to kill someone. This woman could never be the woman whom he had raised. His sister was a kind girl who would even help a stray cat if she could. Maybe Lei Qian was right. His sister started to change when he was not paying attention to her.

He was the only one who was foolish enough to think that she was still the same.

"You could have tried—"

"The matters of the heart cannot be changed or morphed or controlled just because you want them to, Lu Yin!" Lu Yu shook his head and turned on his feet. He glanced at his sister, who was still too stubborn to see the truth. He shook his head and said to her, "If Master Lei ever felt something for you, he would have told me. He has only ever seen you as his sister, just like me. It will be better if you start understanding the truth."

After he finished speaking, he turned around and walked away without looking at his sister. Since his sister had made another mess, he needed to smooth it out before everything spiralled out of control.

Lu Yin watched her brother leave. Her expression changed, and she shouted right after him, "You don’t know what you are talking about! You — you will never understand how I feel... how could you... how could you say this to me?" she yelled as loud as possible, but Lu Yu never looked back.

Seeing this, Lu Yin was so angry that she raised her foot and kicked the pebble on the ground, hitting the car that was sitting at the corner of the garage.

Lu Yu heard the screams of his sister, but he didn’t turn around. He knew that there was no point; his sister was angry and, like a stubborn child, she could never see the truth unless she was faced with the consequences of what she had done.

With a heavy sigh, he made his way to the third floor, where he ran into Shen Zhen.

He saw that she was still holding the papers that Lu Yin had handed to her, and he immediately asked in a low voice, "You are not thinking about going, are you? I hope that you are thinking about leaving and joining the base. That woman named Yu Miaomiao is not a good person. I believe that she has some hidden intent behind recruiting you. Going to her is no different than walking into the mouth of the tiger."

"And it’s not that bad here, is it?"

Shen Zhen, who was actually reading the records of the patients, was stunned.
