Apocalypse: I’m the Landlady of the Refuge -
Chapter 129 Redemption Shelter
Chapter 129: Chapter 129 Redemption Shelter
When both parties saw that there was no ill intention from the other, they put down their weapons and conducted simple negotiations.
The leader of the other group, a Fire Superpower User named Liu Jian, told Ji Wanwan that the largest refuge in Jiang City was called Redemption Shelter, and all six of them were survivors from Redemption Shelter.
Ji Wanwan, on the other hand, told them that she and Xu Siming came from a base in Liancheng and had come to check out the situation in Jiang City.
After hearing what Ji Wanwan said, Liu Jian was somewhat puzzled, "I remember that a while back, Liancheng Bridge was destroyed. How did you two get here?"
Of course, Ji Wanwan would not reveal all her cards.
She pointed to Xu Siming beside her, "My companion has awakened a Water Elemental Superpower. He froze the river surface, and we walked across the ice together."
In reality, it was Xu Siming who had teleported Ji Wanwan across the river; he twitched his mouth and chuckled awkwardly, "Just a little trick, everyone. Please don’t laugh."
Liu Jian’s eyes lit up, "A superpower awakener?!"
Ji Wanwan and Xu Siming had high Superpower Levels and could now control their energy well. They were not easily detected, which was why Liu Jian and his companions had not realized Xu Siming was a superpower awakener at first.
Now upon hearing this, Liu Jian’s attitude changed immediately, "Since the two of you have come to Jiang City, why not also visit our refuge?"
Ji Wanwan had this intention as well, but since the other party hadn’t mentioned it, she felt it wasn’t appropriate to bring it up herself. Now, Liu Jian’s invitation was exactly what she had been hoping for.
Just as she was about to agree, a girl named Deng Jing in Liu Jian’s team defensively looked at Ji Wanwan and her partner, her tone unfriendly, "Captain! We still don’t know the details about these two. How can we just casually bring them to the refuge? What if they have ulterior motives?"
Liu Jian seemed to value Deng Jing’s opinion highly.
He paused slightly, then immediately looked at Deng Jing, "What do you mean by that?"
The refuge was open to all survivors, even if they had ulterior motives, there were high-level superpower users stationed inside the refuge, so there was no need to worry about anyone causing trouble. What was Deng Jing worried about?
Deng Jing glared at Liu Jian in frustration, "Captain, think about it. They said they came from Liancheng, but look at them; they are clean and tidy, without any supplies, clearly looking like they live nearby. Do they look like they have traveled a long distance?"
Upon being reminded by Deng Jing, Liu Jian suddenly realized and immediately regarded Ji Wanwan and her companion with suspicion.
These two were deliberately deceiving them, and clearly had bad intentions!
He frowned deeply, "Why lie? What are you really trying to do?"
Ji Wanwan: "..."
She was both amused and angered by these two fools.
She rolled her eyes disdainfully, not giving any face at all, "Are you a pig or something? Just because someone says something, you believe it? Can’t you use your own brain for once?"
Liu Jian’s face turned red in an instant.
Xu Siming coldly interjected, "It’s a shame you’re an awakener too. Long journeys, fighting zombies, rushing about, wouldn’t carrying a big pack of supplies be tiring? Can’t we just gather supplies while traveling?"
Ji Wanwan continued to mock, "Exactly, you know we go out to scavenge for supplies too. Do we look like stupid people to you?"
Actually, they always relied on Ji Wanwan’s Space Superpower to store supplies. The two blasted Liu Jian relentlessly, their faces unblushing and hearts unbewitched, leaving Liu Jian blushing and embarrassed.
Seeing the atmosphere was tense, a Wood Element Superpower User in the team named Zhan Yu stepped forward to play peacemaker, "We were not considerate enough and have offended you both, which we sincerely apologize for. Please don’t be upset. If you’re willing, Redemption Shelter is always open to you. If not, we won’t insist. There’s a saying that fights lead to friendships, and I am glad to have met you. I hope we can cooperate in the future to resist the zombies together."
His words were impeccably polite, leaving Ji Wanwan and her partner speechless.
If I remember correctly, what did Deng Jing just call Liu Jian?
Captain?
But how come it seems like Zhan Yu also has significant influence within the team?
Ji Wanwan’s lips curved into a smile that was more mocking than genuine, "So, we’re no longer suspects and can visit your Redemption Shelter now, can we?"
Zhan Yu smiled amiably, "Of course, we can."
He glanced sideways at Liu Jian beside him. Although it was a question, his tone was assertive, "Captain, what do you think?"
Liu Jian’s expression was unchanged, and though he didn’t contradict Zhan Yu, he merely nodded silently, "Mm."
Looking at the remaining supplies in the supermarket, Ji Wanwan decided to put that aside for now.
Compared to continuing to gather supplies, she was more interested in the Redemption Shelter at this moment.
Once Liu Jian and his team had filled several large bags with supplies, they set off back to the refuge.
On the way back, Ji Wanwan and Xu Siming also joined their group.
To avoid exposing Ji Wanwan’s superpower, Xu Siming assisted Liu Jian and his team in clearing zombies all along the way.
Although he deliberately reduced the usage range of his superpower and controlled its explosive power when using it, it still left Liu Jian and his team slack-jawed.
Despite an initial conflict, Liu Jian, who once had little regard for Xu Siming, started to fervently change his attitude during the journey back after witnessing Xu Siming casually eliminate various attacking zombies with a wave of his hand.
"Holy crap! Big shot, what Level is your superpower?"
After Xu Siming casually eliminated another zombie, Liu Jian visibly started blowing pink bubbles.
Ji Wanwan could even imagine that if Liu Jian were a girl, he might have already confessed his admiration.
As for the other members of the team, while they weren’t as enthusiastic as Liu Jian, their glances towards Xu Siming noticeably heated up, occasionally letting out a few exclamations of awe.
Clearly, Xu Siming enjoyed these adulations; his smile never faded throughout the trip.
Hearing Liu Jian inquire about the superpower level, Xu Siming first looked at Ji Wanwan.
With a confirming look from her, Xu Siming then spoke, "Just a shallow Level 10, nothing noteworthy."
!!!
Liu Jian and his team were thunderstruck, especially Liu Jian and Zhan Yu.
Both being superpower awakeners, why was there such a huge difference?!
Xu Siming, seeing everyone’s expressions, was so pleased he was nearly over the moon.
Ji Wanwan couldn’t help but cover her face with a hand, partly amused and partly exasperated.
Sometimes, she really found men to be absurdly childish...
Compared to Xu Siming, Ji Wanwan had it much easier. Everyone was focused on Xu Siming, practically leaving her with nothing to do on the journey.
But she wasn’t idle either; she silently memorized the route and surreptitiously observed Liu Jian and his team along the way.
There was none of the evil aura like that of the Baize Union about these six people; it seemed the Redemption Shelter was just an ordinary refuge.
In comparison, although each of Liu Jian’s team had their own ulterior motives, these were normal reactions for people, completely unlike the overt evil of the Baize Union.
With these thoughts, Ji Wanwan became even more interested in the Redemption Shelter.
She wondered what a normally developing refuge would be like...
