Chapter 82: Chapter 38: The Notice Board in Front of the Gymnasium (Extra 1000 Words)_2
"And there’s not a single outlet in the dorm... I don’t know if the school did it on purpose or by accident."
Lin Yi glanced at his phone.
"Oh... I know, you told me before, but I didn’t want to turn it in, so I brought it with me."
Hearing Lin Yi say this, Wei Liang thought that Lin Yi might want to turn it on to contact his family as soon as he left the campus, so he didn’t ask any more questions.
He bent down to put on his socks and soon asked again, "Anything else?"
"What else?"
"Socks!"
"Didn’t I give them to you?"
"The other foot."
Lin Yi was slightly startled, gave him a silent glance, and saw that he had wrapped his right foot tightly in no time, making it look like a big pig’s trotter at a first glance.
"..." Lin Yi couldn’t help but say, "Big brother... don’t put them all on one foot!"
Wei Liang smacked his lips, reluctantly began to change his socks.
Suddenly, Lin Yi sensed something and looked out the window.
It seemed that another cloud had drifted over the mountainside.
"The wind is picking up... Liangzi, let’s hurry up and... hmm??"
When he shifted his gaze back from the window, he found that Wei Liang was no longer in his original spot.
"Wind my foot, let’s go! Let’s go!" Wei Liang was waving at him from the steps, urging, "Ah, just leave the bag in the classroom, if someone takes it we can still ask the school for a payout... ah no, ask the school for compensation, let’s go! Let’s go!"
"Damn! Are you a ghost or something, flitting out just when I turned my head?" Lin Yi quickly put down his books and caught up with Wei Liang’s pace.
After leaving the classroom and going down the steps, the two followed the marked route on the map and walked towards the gymnasium along a cobblestone path lined with streetlights.
Interestingly, from the map provided in the student regulations, the distance between buildings on the S University campus seems almost identical.
Walking on the road, Lin Yi observed the numbers on the streetlights.
’Teaching Building-054’, ’Teaching Building-065’, ’Teaching Building-099’... ’Gymnasium-005’, ’Gymnasium-071’...
Lin Yi’s brows quirked.
"It seems we’ve reached the gymnasium’s area!"
He looked ahead and saw a winding slope leading down to a relatively flat area in the mountain where a huge structure resembling a bird’s egg was built.
Without a doubt, that was the gymnasium.
But at this moment, Lin Yi suddenly had a flash of insight.
He turned his head for a look.
All the rules had said not to look back under abnormal conditions, so Lin Yi turned his head this time under normal circumstances.
Yet, he was still shocked by the sight and stood rooted to the spot.
There was no teaching building behind him.
It was only a few steps away, but the teaching building had vanished.
The distance between the teaching building and the gymnasium, as marked on the map, was not too far—about a fifteen-minute walk in normal circumstances.
However, in the classroom and the teaching building, no matter how he looked around, he could not see the other buildings; he would only see the Green Forest Belt, green belts, or the layers of mountains.
And now, having come to this place, he couldn’t see the teaching building anymore.
"Strange..." Lin Yi murmured.
"What’s so strange?" Wei Liang said.
"The teaching building is gone." Lin Yi said.
Wei Liang gave him a strange look and pointed towards the way they had come: "Look, isn’t it right there? That big row of buildings."
A perplexed expression appeared in Lin Yi’s eyes as he looked in the direction Wei Liang was pointing...
There was no teaching building.
There simply was no teaching building!
"Damn... I can’t see the teaching building anymore?!" Lin Yi’s eyes widened slightly, a drop of cold sweat seeped from his forehead and slid down his nose.
He thought of the scene from last night when Mao Feiyang couldn’t see the negative first-floor office.
And now he couldn’t see the teaching building... wasn’t this exactly the same?!
"How can... this be?!"
His throat moved slightly, feeling a chill in his body despite being under the sun.
"Old Lin, what’s wrong? What scared you again?" Wei Liang waved his hand vigorously in front of his eyes.
"Liangzi, I haven’t spaced out yet..." Lin Yi said with difficulty.
He looked down at his watch.
14:06.
"There are 24 minutes left until the start of gym class..."
He looked up at the sky again.
The afternoon sun was just right, and although there was a cloud in the sky, it was still a long distance away from drifting over.
He had a hypothesis in mind.
He said to Wei Liang, "Don’t move from here, Liangzi, wait for me."
With that, he walked back the way they had come.
Watching Lin Yi’s retreating figure, Wei Liang suddenly felt as if he had dropped in seniority for some reason and thought that Lin Yi should be holding an orange when he came back.
"Hey, wait for me, don’t split up, let’s go together!" Wei Liang quickly called out to Lin Yi and hurried after him.
But after only a few steps, he saw Lin Yi stand still again.
"Hey, what the heck... are you playing statue?" he couldn’t help saying. "Hey, is there a problem with the teaching building?"
He noticed that Lin Yi was staring at the teaching building.
"No problem... not anymore." Lin Yi replied.
He could see the teaching building again.
"I think I know what’s going on..."
He glanced at the streetlight pole beside the road.
’Teaching Building-099’.
He turned around and headed towards the gymnasium, simultaneously observing the change in the numbers on the streetlight poles. When he saw the number on the pole go up to ’Gymnasium-005’, he turned back to look at the teaching building.
Sure enough, the teaching building had vanished from his view again.
