Chapter 459: Chapter 232 Laredo
Boketu drove the Jeep towards the suburban hangar. It took some time to arrive there, and they saw a family of five moving their private plane out of the hangar to fly somewhere else for a vacation.
After getting out of the car, Allen Zhang approached the hangar, entered the password to unlock it, and opened the large warehouse doors. Boketu drove the Jeep inside and piloted out the Cirrus FS50 Fathead Shark.
Upon opening the plane’s cabin door, they saw the cargo neatly placed on the rear seats, valued at 400,000 US Dollars from South America.
Allen Zhang loaded all the equipment from the Jeep onto the plane, seated Blitz, closed the cabin door, and asked, "How much are those customers prepared to pay for this batch of goods?"
"The market price is around 380,000 to 420,000 US Dollars, if they’re satisfied they’ll surely pay 400,000 US Dollars," Blitz answered. "Once we reach Laredo, we need to go to a Tex-Mex restaurant to find a Mexican named Bolo. He’s somewhat well-known locally, mainly for luring customers and climbing walls, handling fake documents. However, from the information I’ve gathered, this guy seems to have engaged in underhanded dealings more than once."
"Do we still dare to go there and trade with such a person?" Boketu was somewhat puzzled, piloting the Cirrus Fathead Shark out of the hangar, parking it on the public airport runway, waiting to take off.
"After all, it’s goods worth 400,000 US Dollars. It’s not so easy to liquidate this in the local market. The Biker Gang and other street gangs occupy large shares of the Los Angeles underground market. The market is only so big; if we compete with them, it would definitely bring trouble. If we want to offload quickly, we can only go to other states, and the best option is through illegal routes. Laredo’s daily business turnover from South American imports accounts for at least 100 million US Dollars, our volume thrown into it doesn’t make any splash at all," Blitz responded. "Anyway, we’re just doing this as a one-off, not as professionals in organic trade."
"I’m actually interested to see how he double-crosses," Allen Zhang chuckled.
Boketu got off the plane, closed the hangar door, relocked it, and after checking everything was correct, returned to the pilot’s seat.
After waiting for a few minutes, the private planes ahead took off one after another. He then informed the General Sect Leader to buckle up and did the pre-takeoff checks and settings. They officially approached the runway, accelerated along it, and took off smoothly.
Allen Zhang looked at the landscape outside the window, asking Boketu to navigate the plane towards Qiliye Mountain. Although the mountain camp doesn’t have an airstrip or hangar, there’s a public airport in the small town at the foot of the mountain.
He took out his phone in advance to contact the Beggar Gang Disciples at the mountain camp, asking them to send someone to pick him up from the airport.
It took about fifteen minutes to arrive at the airport, where Boketu contacted the control tower, informed them of their intention to land, and after receiving permission, found an open runway to land the plane, parking it smoothly there.
"Sir, if you don’t have hangar assets here. Occupying public resources, you’ll need to pay a parking fee of 20 US Dollars per hour," said an airport staff member who came over after they got off the plane.
Boketu questioned with a puzzled tone, "Isn’t this a public airport?"
"You parked on a recently constructed toll runway. Due to its remote location, few private planes usually land or take off here."
The staff patiently explained, "Our workers maintain and repair the runway daily, and the government doesn’t provide us with funding, so we must charge customers a certain labor cost."
"..." Boketu was speechless.
Looking at the overgrown weeds beside the runway and the rusty barbed wire, it was clear that they directed him to land here. How could there be any sign that this was recently constructed?
Yet, seeing the elderly staff and other elders, some of whom were part of the Biker Gang hanging around, he didn’t say much else. He took out 20 US Dollars and gave it to them.
"Keep an eye on the plane, and make sure those clumsy jerks don’t touch our plane," Boketu warned, taking a gun from his waistbag. "Otherwise, the thing in my hand isn’t vegetarian."
"Of course, sir, our airport is legitimate," the staff took the 20 US Dollars, responding eagerly. He turned around and nodded to those in the Biker Gang. After receiving the money, they finally left the place.
Blitz watching this scene commented, "The more remote and mountainous small towns, the higher the unemployment, the more chaotic the order. Otherwise, Heaven’s Gate wouldn’t have stayed here so long, with so many unsolved missing person cases."
The General Sect Leader wasn’t concerned, "It’s the West Coast, it’s like this. You’ll get used to it, after all, not every place can compare to the well-ordered Los Angeles."
After a while, the Beggar Gang Disciples from the Qiliye Mountain came down and drove from the camp.
Allen Zhang got into the car, and also sent a message to Old Jack, asking him where he was.
Old Jack: I’m almost at Qiliye Mountain.
Allen Zhang: Then you better hurry.
Leaving a Beggar Gang Disciple to watch the plane, they rode to the mountain camp. After reaching the camp and getting off the car, they saw several young men detained from the delivery earlier in the morning, serving as laborers carrying bricks to repair the main gate.
