Chapter 1126: 384. Confrontation 3

Edgar Hoover has never married in his life and has always lived alone.

"Who!"

Edgar Hoover pressed himself against the wall beside the door, holding a loaded pistol in one hand, and asked.

"Mr. Hoover, I am Randolph Roman, from Mr. Block’s side!"

Edgar Hoover’s heart skipped another beat. He had a premonition that Alan Wicks had already fallen into Donnie’s hands.

Now, there were two paths before Edgar Hoover!

First, to quickly escape from here, from the United States, as his role as FBI director would offer him no protection at this moment!

Second, to open the door and follow these people to see Donnie Block. Edgar Hoover did not know what the outcome would be upon meeting Donnie Block, but it could prevent him from becoming a homeless dog!

Ultimately, Edgar Hoover chose the second path; he didn’t want to become a stray dog!

Randolph Roman looked calmly at Edgar Hoover standing before him and said, "Mr. Hoover, our boss asks that you come back with us, as he wishes to meet you!"

Edgar Hoover had anticipated this outcome and replied calmly, "Alright!"

Randolph Roman, seeing Edgar Hoover agree so readily, said, "Before we go, we need to check as usual whether Mr. Hoover is carrying any weapons!"

Edgar Hoover handed over his pistol to Randolph Roman and spread his arms!

After confirming Edgar Hoover had no other weapons, Randolph Roman led him away from the place.

In Donnie’s study, Edgar Hoover saw Alan Wicks sitting there.

At this moment, Edgar Hoover showed no sign of panic.

Donnie looked at Edgar Hoover with a smile and said, "Edgar, now that everything is clear, let’s get straight to the point."

Edgar Hoover stood opposite Donnie, with Donnie’s desk between them.

"I was the one who got rid of Trey Layman!" Edgar Hoover made no pretense now and said directly, "Also, on the day you came to Washington, I was the one who found Trey Layman and instructed him to find the trackers and two gunmen for you!"

Donnie nodded; no matter how he doubted this matter, he could confirm it was on Edgar Hoover!

"So the people ambushing me were also arranged by you?"

Donnie asked Edgar Hoover.

Edgar Hoover shook his head and said, "I didn’t arrange it; I’ve been framed for this!"

Donnie asked, "There needs to be a reason for this!"

Edgar Hoover said, "If I tell Mr. Block everything, can I preserve a life here?"

Donnie said, "Just this alone isn’t enough; I need to know all the secrets you hold in your heart. I believe even though Rhode Granger has been by your side for so long, there must be some things he doesn’t know!"

Tonight, for the first time, Edgar Hoover frowned in front of Donnie; this was his last safety net. But after thinking for a while, Edgar Hoover still said, "I will tell Mr. Block everything!"

Donnie nodded and said, "Good, now let’s talk about the ambush on me!"

Edgar Hoover talked about John Garner, "...he was the one who hinted I should eliminate you, Mr. Block. I believe I’ve lost my utility to them now, but they want to kill you to protect their reputation. It’s just right to use this situation to push all the blame on me. By that time, you’ll be dead, I’ll take the fall, and they could even slowly swallow your Venus Consortium!"

"John Garner!"

Donnie had indeed suspected him; after all, he was among those initially informed that he would attend the Coolidge dinner that night. Arranging for gunmen during that timeframe was something anyone would logically do.

If the person behind it was John Garner,

then all questions could be logically explained!

John Garner’s influence could allow him to do these things, but was it really just to protect his identity and status behind the radioactive goods that he wants to eliminate me?

Donnie felt it was likely that John Garner was responsible for this, but there must be more to it than just this reason!

The reason Alan Wicks could escape from the scene also became apparent—that the other side wanted to use Alan Wicks to completely shove the blame onto Edgar Hoover.

However, the way I handled this matter was beyond their expectation. Instead of killing Edgar Hoover directly due to the ambush, I called him here...

"Wrong, wrong, wrong!"

Donnie Block directly noticed something that didn’t logically make sense.

Leaving Alan Wicks alive was a risky move; what if I didn’t act as they thought, but instead, directly called Edgar Hoover to confront him?

Then John Garner’s identity would have inevitably been exposed.

"Could it be that the other side is so confident in their stature, thinking I wouldn’t dare to act against him? That’s why John Garner would take such a risky move?"

Donnie felt the situation was becoming increasingly complex.

"Alright, now you can talk about the outdated information stored in your heart!" Donnie temporarily set this matter aside and asked Edgar Hoover.

Edgar Hoover took a deep breath and slowly revealed all the intelligence he had gathered about the United States’ high officials to Donnie during this period.

After listening, Donnie shook his head regretfully; indeed, he didn’t know these things, but these secrets were just trivial ones. Apparently, the current Edgar Hoover had not reached the peak where he could grasp the specific secrets of numerous American political figures!
