Chapter 1124: 384. Confrontation
Alan Wicks is now very anxious.
He never thought things would become this complicated and dangerous.
Two days ago, like many others in Washington, he was taken into FBI headquarters, and following his boss Trey Layman’s instructions, he gave a false account.
After sifting through his interrogation records, the FBI found no issues with his statement and released Alan Wicks. The next day, they also released his boss Trey Layman.
This eased Alan Wicks’ mind at the time, making him think the FBI was nothing special.
But just a day later, his boss Trey Layman was taken again, with news soon spreading that Trey Layman had suddenly died at the FBI headquarters!
Knowing the relationship between Trey Layman and Edgar Hoover, Alan Wicks was immediately terrified. He wasn’t sure if Edgar Hoover was behind his boss’s death, but he knew Edgar Hoover was the prime suspect.
Realizing that he was the only one who knew about Edgar Hoover’s connection to his boss, Alan Wicks couldn’t help but feel panicked.
He didn’t dare go to bars, or even his own home, so he hid out at the house of one of his mistresses.
"Damn it, I’m leaving Washington tomorrow!"
Alan Wicks sat on the couch in the living room, holding a bottle of beer, thinking he had to leave this place of trouble as soon as possible.
"Darling, where are we going?" Alan Wicks’ mistress, Lawrence Mart, asked softly, sitting beside him.
Alan Wicks replied: "To Europe, staying in the United States is impossible!"
Alan Wicks knew very well the kind of powerful people he was entangled with, whose influence spanned the entire country. If he stayed in the United States, he would definitely be caught!
So, he made up his mind to go to Europe!
Lawrence Mart frowned slightly. She was only Alan Wicks’ mistress, not his wife, and she didn’t want to leave the United States to go to Europe with him.
Alan Wicks noticed Lawrence Mart’s reluctance and said in a deep voice: "This issue is huge, they will certainly investigate you, and when the FBI comes, you won’t be able to handle their punishment!"
Hearing Alan Wicks speak like this, Lawrence Mart showed some tension. Though she didn’t fully understand, she was very frightened!
"Alright, I’ll start packing!"
In the end, Lawrence Mart realized she had no other choice but to complain about Alan Wicks in her mind and began packing her things!
At that moment, Alan Wicks suddenly heard sounds coming from outside the house, in the stairwell, a chaotic noise indicating quite a few people!
Hearing this, Alan Wicks instantly tensed up, immediately drew his handgun, cautiously staying on guard near the door, and urged Lawrence Mart to keep silent.
The lock made a noise!
Seeing this, Alan Wicks hesitated no more and fired several shots at the door.
The other side evidently didn’t expect Alan Wicks to act this way; they didn’t return fire but promptly kicked open the door when Alan Wicks stopped shooting.
Several men in black saw the situation inside the room and fired several shots in Alan Wicks’ direction but missed, instead hitting the frightened Lawrence Mart.
At this point, Alan Wicks dared not delay any longer and jumped out the window.
The group of men in black swiftly rushed to the window; someone was about to shoot but was stopped by someone next to him.
"We want him alive!"
After saying this, the person fired a few shots into the air and quickly left the scene.
Having escaped, Alan Wicks was now hiding in an alley, panting heavily, feeling like a terrified street rat.
In his haste to get out, he hadn’t grabbed any cash.
Looking again at his pistol, which had only one bullet left, Alan Wicks spat on the ground, "Damn it, Edgar Hoover, if you won’t let me live, you won’t have it easy either!"
After thinking it over, Alan Wicks headed towards Block Manor!
.
Donnie, already asleep, was awakened by the persistent ring of the phone. He turned on the lamp by the bed and answered the call.
"Boss, we’ve found someone you should meet!"
Randolph Roman’s voice came through the phone.
Donnie knew that if Randolph Roman called at this time, the person they found must be extremely important.
"Bring him to my study!"
"Yes!"
"Who was it?" At this moment, Helen also sat up in bed.
Donnie said: "It’s nothing, there’s been some progress. You keep sleeping!"
"Okay!" Helen nodded.
Donnie got out of bed, put on his robe, left the bedroom, and went to the study, where he saw Randolph Roman with a disheveled person standing at his study door.
No one could enter Donnie’s study without his permission.
Opening the door, Donnie walked in first, sat on his chair, took out a cigar, lit it, and prepared himself.
"Who is this?" Donnie asked after taking a puff of his cigar.
"Mr. Block, sir, I am Alan Wicks, a subordinate of Trey Layman, with important information to report to you!" Alan Wicks quickly answered Donnie’s question.
