Chapter 747: The School Bully

Yarin's POV:

Honestly, if I were an ordinary person and saw that my classmates for the next three years were the future heirs of the country, I would have found it surreal. In simpler terms, it was like 'meeting a celebrity'.

I had to comfort Heller, "Don't worry, it's just the first day. Everyone's still getting to know each other. It doesn't mean we won't become friends later on."

The middle school ended at five, and we had to return to the Charlies household.

Grandma was reluctant to see us go, but she couldn't stay at the Charlies household as we could. That would attract too much attention to the Charlies Family.

Our parents advised us to behave and not cause any trouble for Lady Charlies. They also mentioned that after school started, more people from the Charlies Family would visit us. Neither Mom nor Dad would be around then, providing us an opportunity to develop our social skills.

"Before, it was like a period of newcomers' protection. Since it's after the holidays, I didn't want to put too much pressure on you," Mom said. "But now that school has started, you'll encounter all sorts of people in school, leading to various relationships. Your classmates' families will come to visit you, and other families will try to get in touch after hearing about you. You need to learn how to handle this, okay? Lady Charlies will help you."

Additionally, she told me privately, "The priestess hopes you can find time to visit the temple. Did you place the illusion of the Moon Palace's courtyard in your spiritual world? Although it's risky, the priestess has a way to strengthen the seal against evil forces through the illusion of the Moon Palace's courtyard."

Mentioning the priestess naturally made me think of the goddess and the temple. I asked, "Is the temple alright now? After all, the goddess has... the temple's attendants didn't notice anything?"

"The priestess is doing well at the temple. So far, no one has suspected anything," Mom said, but for some reason, I felt a touch of sarcasm in her tone, directed at the temple.

"After all, these past hundreds or even thousands of years have been like this, right? Besides the priestess, how many have truly seen the goddess? How many genuinely revere the goddess and not just seek power from the temple? For many, as long as the temple exists, that's enough. The rest, ha."

The goddess was Mom's previous life's mother, and to see the temple's supposedly devout followers ignoring the goddess like this made me uncomfortable, even more so than Mom, it seemed.

But Mom soon chuckled self-deprecatingly, "But what right do I have to be critical of others? I'm also using the goddess to control them. Anyway, let's not talk about this. In short, if you have time during the weekend, don't forget to visit the temple and see the priestess." Nightfall.

I hadn't seen Eden since the opening ceremony. I had expected to see him back at the Charlies household, but he wasn't there either.

For some reason, I had a feeling that Eden wasn't in a good mood. Remembering his attitude toward school earlier, he seemed not very keen on attending.

In any case, the first day of middle school ended uneventfully. It was strange-what I had been looking forward to so much, in the end, turned out to be quite ordinary and uneventful.

The following days held nothing particularly noteworthy. After getting over the initial awkwardness, we and our classmates gradually grew familiar with each other.

The world of teenagers wasn't as complicated as that of adults. Even if there are conflicts, they were not as deeply rooted. Just chatting about gossip or playing basketball was enough to forge the beginning of friendships.

"Hey, did you hear? Kris from the second year will have a public duel on the playground today."

Some girls excitedly discussed upperclassmen's gossip.

"What? Kris is dueling with someone? Why?"

"What else could it be? These airheaded boys only know how to show off and deal with their girlfriends!"

"So, someone actually dared to challenge Kris' girlfriend?"

"Come on, is Chris really that popular? He likes Autumn from the second year, but she's

already taken. Chris felt embarrassed and challenged the guy."

"Haha, a duel? Are we in the Middle Ages, a few hundred years ago?"

"Hilarious! Are you going to watch it at noon?"

"Why not? We might as well skip the last class in the morning. The history teacher loves dragging the class. By the time we finish, the duel might be over!"

Their comments reflected the characteristic sarcasm of middle school students. But a duel? Would Sivir Academy really allow such a thing to happen?

So, I asked the classmate beside me, "What are they talking about? Who is Kris?" "Kris? Goddess, he's practically a legend at Sivir Academy. He's been a famous school bully since primary school. He's done all the despicable things you can imagine a school bully doing. In fourth grade, he even knocked out a classmate's tooth-though it was a baby tooth and a new one grew soon after. But that incident made him quite famous; students call him 'Tooth Puncher.""

"Really?" I furrowed my brows, and my first impression of the person plummeted, "Doesn't the school do anything about it?"
