Chapter 735: The Glass Boy
Chapter 735: The Glass Boy
Yarin's POV:
We immediately moved to the Charlies Family, and my mom quickly contacted them. Tomorrow, we would be moving there.
"Isn't it too rushed?" I worried that it might cause trouble for them.
But my mom said, "Actually, I had the idea of having you and your siblings move out a few years ago. I hinted at the Charlies Family about it at the beginning of the year. Staying in the palace always isn't conducive to your growth; you should go out more, see the world, and make some friends.
"The Charlies Family has a wide social circle, and they don't just stick to interacting with nobles. You'll meet all kinds of people there. Lady Charlies is kind-hearted and well- informed; I trust her with you."
"I thought you would prefer us to stay at grandfather's house? After all, he's our blood relative and holds a high position, which means he could teach us a lot about politics." "Grandfather's house is good, too, but precisely because Duke Frank holds a high position, he often can't show you the true world. Things related to politics, your father and I will teach you. Besides that, I hope you can see different aspects of the world and get to know more people; it's very important for your future development."
"The future..."
Muttering this word, I fell into deep thought.
How could I be sure what my future would be like? I didn't even know if I had a future, and Azazel's shadow loomed over my life, uncertain when he would be dispelled.
The peaceful days I spent back at the Lycan Pack almost made me think everything that happened at Silvermoon Pack was just a dream, but what happened to Adele shattered my self-deception-demonic tentacles lingered and would suddenly disrupt your life when you least expected it.
Cynthia was attending classes, receiving education from a private tutor at home. Heller was sunbathing in the garden; his eyes limited him from doing much, but he seemed to enjoy this peaceful life.
"Hey, Yarin, do you want a cup of hot cocoa? Bertha just made some and added a lot of milk." he scooted over a bit, inviting me to sit on the swing chair with him.
I sat beside him, holding a mug and siping the steaming beverage. "You're not bothered by the cold? There's still snow outside. Be careful not to catch a cold."
"Since flowers can bloom in the snow, I suppose the snow isn't that cold, right?" Heller lazily smiled, and a sparrow flew down from the branch, picking up a fallen peony and placing it in This palm.
Heller grabbed a handful of peanut crumbs from the small can and put them on the table. The sparrow hopped up and pecked contentedly.
This scene was quite romantic: children, birds, and flowers-the timeless elements of classical paintings.
"We're going to the Charlies Family tomorrow. Don't you want to prepare anything?" I asked. Cynthia had already excitedly packed three large boxes of clothes and books; she even wanted to skip classes for this and was taken away by her private tutor with an imposing air.
Upon hearing this, Heller seemed a little down, "I don't have much to prepare, just some clothes, accessories, and daily necessities. Even if I want to do something, the servants will immediately shoo me away, all flabbergasted. I don't want to be a glass figurine that scares them; I'll just stay wherever it's cool."
Heller was born weak and often fell ill; he still had a weak body. As a result, people caring for him tended to be overly cautious, rarely letting him do things himself. It could be said that among the three of us siblings, he lived the most like a royal member.
But such a life in our family was more like torture, going against his free nature and causing frustration.
When Heller was young, he once had diarrhea because of a careless servant who served him unclean food. That servant was investigated for three months after being dismissed; she and her family, friends, and anyone associated with her were thoroughly investigated.
After all, there had been incidents targeting children in the royal family before-such as my mom being kidnapped when she was young-so they became almost PTSD about children facing troubles!
Since then, even if Bertha stressed treating Heller normally, the servants always kept their distance and treated him like a vase.
This could be called cautious, but it also represented a form of rejection. As a result, Heller became more introverted and less inclined to interact with people.
But who could blame anyone? Blame Heller for being overly delicate? Blame the servants for being overly cautious? Or blame the department that investigated the servant back then for being too harsh?
It seemed like no one was to blame, and no one could be asked not to be startled or be less strict.
So this time, moving to the Charlies Family might open up a more relaxed and free life for Heller, getting away from an environment that confined him like a glass doll. I hoped Heller would become more cheerful and genuinely happy.
Knowing that we were leaving, Aunt Carolyn specially came to say goodbye. We hadn't spent much time together, and our departure was too sudden. Aunt Carolyn vaguely guessed that our departure was related to Adele.
