Chapter 700: The Taste of Luck

Lily's POV:

How could I not understand Yarin's intentions? Putting everything else aside, he had risked his life for me several times. Of course, I wasn't narcissistic enough to think that all his motives were mine. However, if I were to ignore this child's passionate feelings with a clear conscience because of this, then I would be too heartless.

But I couldn't respond to him.

I liked Yarin very much. No one would dislike this sincere, brave, intelligent, and kind child.

However, it was all platonic. My emotions and morals did not allow me to have romantic thoughts about an underage child. Not to mention that I was also underage. There was an insurmountable age suppression between sixteen and twelve years old. Wasn't the essence of adults seducing underage children the use of age to surpass the young and do things that violated morality and law in the name of love?

I wouldn't do that or start something that shouldn't have started.

So when I felt Yarin's eager confession, I immediately shut it down. I knew how much children this age care about their self-esteem, so I tried to gently not hurt their hearts.

I took out the candy and asked, "By the way, do you want to try this?"

The laser candy wrapper shone brightly under the light.

"It's the limited-edition candy with a special name you gave Lily," Yarin told Heller.

"Yes." I shook my palm, and the skin rubbed against the candy wrapper, making a rustling sound. "I will treasure the candy wrapper and keep it well, but as for the candy inside, the sweet taste should be shared with friends, right?"

The three of us shared the candy.

A wonderful taste spread in our mouths.

The candy was different from the ones I had eaten before. It was not as simple as the traditional candies of the werewolves that I was familiar with, nor was it as sweet as the imported Jasper candy, which was as if corn syrup was free. It had a faint sweetness and a cool temperature. The source of the sweetness was honey.

However, there was a rich floral fragrance in contrast to the faint sweetness. It did not smell like anything, but when the candy gradually melted in my mouth, the rich aroma of lilies exploded on the tip of my tongue, immediately making my lips and teeth fragrant.

The smell was like a half-opened lily bud in the morning. It was fresh and elegant, with the moisture of dew and the warmth of the morning glow.

The craftsmanship is exceptional. The laser paper would only reveal the pattern under a specific angle of light." After hearing this, Heller shouted out of excitement, "I know! It is a hidden limited edition one! It is even rarer than the usual limited edition! You're so lucky, Lily, to have collected such a rare item."

Was I lucky? Maybe.

Looking at the two boys smiling happily, I couldn't help but smile.

For someone like me to be able to get two true friends, it could only be luck.
