Alpha's Rejected Mate Returns as Queen -
Chapter 698: The Goddess
Chapter 698: The Goddess
Yarin's POV:
Speaking of which, since mortals could not resist divine power, what about gods?
Why didn't the Moon Goddess return to expel the invaders from her territory?
And Azazel's words before he left, "Will the moonlight dry up one day?" What was he implying?
When I mentioned this, my mom also looked confused.
"The last time the goddess sent down a miracle was when the Shadow Pack selected the new Alpha, but that was only a divine light. It had been hundreds of years since anyone had seen the goddess's face. She was no longer as active as she was in the mythological era. As time passed, the records about her were decreasing bit by bit."
Speaking of her 'mother from her previous life', she seemed a little disappointed.
"When I was young, the goddess had cast several projections in my spiritual world. But I still can't be sure if it was her because no other god could have helped me then.
"Back then, when Azazel descended upon the werewolves, the goddess only expelled him but did not show up. After so many years, the temple had not received a single oracle from the goddess. Many times, even I had almost forgotten that the werewolves had such an organization.
"Of course, it can also be said that after entering the modern era, the gods no longer pay attention to their subjects as they did in the past. For example, the elves have been fighting for many years, but the Goddess of Nature has not chosen a new king, right? But... Sigh, I can't explain this feeling. When Azazel left these words, I felt that all the abnormalities that had happened before could be vaguely connected."
In the end, she sighed with disgust and powerlessness. "This damned demon always spared no effort to disturb people's hearts!"
Azazel's words were like a thorn in our hearts, forcing us to wonder about the current
situation of the Moon Goddess. Of course, this could also be a complete lie, but because there was only one percent of the truth, it made people panic.
A chaotic night passed.
The next day, my mom told me that Lily had woken up and asked me if I wanted to go and see her.
Lily was placed in a bedroom on the top floor of the sanatorium. The bedroom was small, and the layout was casual. Lily did not like empty places.
The nurse had just administered her medication and was lying on the bed in a daze.
When she saw me, she smiled and greeted me."Hey, Yarin, good morning."
"Good morning, Lily."
I sat beside her bed and peeled an apple from the plate. "How do you feel?" I asked. "I asked the doctor. He said that the painkillers might affect the healing of the wound, so he didn't prescribe too much for you. Do you feel pain? Is it itchy?
"I just learned a painkiller spell from Aunt Dorothy. It's very safe. Do you want to try it?"
"You know witchcraft?" Lily asked in surprise.
"... Well, you know that I was a spell insulator before, but Aunt Dorothy gave me some runes, which allowed me to use some simple spells," I stuttered.
"All right, this is very cool and very powerful." Lily didn't ask too much. "But there's no need. I can still bear the pain. Besides, the pain made me realize that what happened before was not a dream. I'm still alive."
She raised her arm, which was wrapped in gauze. Under the gauze was a deep wound that revealed the bone. Even though the werewolf's healing power would eventually heal them, the wounds still hurt Lily when they cut open her skin.
My heart ached when I thought about how this might traumatize Lily for the rest of her life. If I hadn't implicated Lily, the Lily of the Valley wouldn't have chosen her as bait to lure me in. I couldn't even remember how many times I had implicated Lily. I always bring her misfortune.
But Lily never asked me anything. She never asked me how I saved her at the Moonlight Festival, nor did she ask me what happened after she fainted. She always trusted me, even if the harm she suffered was always related to me.
Perhaps I had been staring at Lily for too long. Confused, she tilted her head and asked, "Is there something on my face?"
I quickly handed the peeled apple to her and said, "No, no!"
Lily picked up the apple with a small fork and ate it. We were speechless for a moment.
After a while, I said, "I'm leaving. It's true this time. Mom has decided to leave immediately tomorrow."
"So soon?" Lily was shocked.
"Yes, I should have returned earlier, but so many things have happened in between. Now, we can't delay any longer with Lycan Pack..."
"All right, that's true. But what about your and Heller's wounds? Aren't you going to take care of it?"
"Heller's wounds have been healed. His eyes need time before they recover. As for me, I have to pinch myself like clay."
"Don't make yourself sound like a kindergarten handiwork assignment. In short, I wish you a safe journey. Since I can't send you off in my current state, I can only say the nice things now."
"Nice things?"
"Yes, let's keep in touch when you get back, okay? You have my phone number, uh, although I might not be able to get a signal from time to time."
The sunlight sprinkled on the girl's soft hair, bursting out tiny golden lights. Together with her sincere smile, it struck my heart.
