Chapter 531: The Mother (2)
Giselle’s smile vanished when she heard what Gastone had stated. Her calm demeanor turned to rage as her son was mentioned.
"How dare you!" Giselle yelled, baring her teeth as an act of threat.
Gastone smirked. He closed his eyes for a quick second to calm himself. He said those words as a bet on how Giselle would react, and he succeeded.
"Think about it, Giselle. If your son saw you killing innocent children, would he accept that?" Gastone pushed further. He could see that his words affected Giselle’s mind, and he planned to play with them.
"Enough!" Giselle stood up, wanting to end the conversation.
"What would you feel if one of those children is your son?" Gastone raised his voice as he didn’t want to give up that easily. "Are you okay with it?"
Giselle paused. She turned her head and looked straight at Gastone’s eyes. "My son is dead!"
"Dead?" Gastone was flabbergasted. He frowned as he didn’t expect that answer from Giselle. "I don’t think so."
"You don’t know about me or my life, Gastone. So, if you have no business with me, please leave," Giselle said and was about to open the door when Gastone spoke.
"Rocco... Rocco Violante, your mate!" Gastone exclaimed and walked closer. "I’m sure you remember him."
"Haha, yes. Rocco Violante... The great mighty King! Who only loves his Crown and nothing else!" Giselle snapped. She didn’t deny being mated to Rocco as it would only enrage her more.
"A lot happened back in the Werewolf realm, but I don’t have the time to tell you about them. "Gastone couldn’t continue when Giselle interrupted him.
"I DON’T CARE! I’m no longer welcome in that place!" Giselle shouted, tears forming in her eyes as the memory she had tried to hide all these years returned like a wave, and it only hurt her heart.
"YOU ARE!" Gastone shouted back. His breath became heavy as he reached for Giselle and grabbed her shoulder, forcing her to look at him. "You are welcome to go back into the Werewilf realm."
"Oh dear, do you want to know why I’m here in the human realm?" Giselle chuckled amusingly. She stared at Gastone as if she was looking at his soul. "It’s because that f*cking Rocco placed me here after I gave birth to hide my identity from the world. He promised to fix the situation, but I’m stuck here for years! Don’t you understand!?"
Gastone bit his lips when he saw a tear slide down Giselle’s cheek. He could sense her pain as their bond was also broken. "I’m sorry..." he whispered, letting her go.
Giselle aggressively wiped the tears and got angry at herself for crying in the first place. "Don’t ever show yourself to me."
"Okay, but someone wants to see you," Gastone whispered, which perked Giselle’s interest.
"If it’s that King Rocco. Tell him he can die without seeing me ever!" Giselle snapped, flinging her arm.
Gastone shook his head. "No... your son wants to see you. His name is Draco," he replied, seeing Giselle’s reaction.
"D-Draco?" Giselle frowned as she tried to remember a memory from the past. Her knees weakened as she slumped to the ground and realized what Gastone had said. "I received a letter years ago stating my son died..."
Gastone smiled softly as he crouched down. "No, he has been searching for you for a long time. He wants you back, and whoever lied to you... They’re clearly wrong," he said softly.
Giselle’s eyes twinkled with hope. "R-Really? How? I’m sure Rocco is against it... I..." she muttered as she couldn’t believe that her son was alive all these years.
"I told you. Something happened in the Werewolf realm, and it’s not the same anymore. You will know when you arrive there." Gastone grabbed Giselle’s hand and pressed it softly to comfort her. "So, can you come back with me?"
Giselle’s heart raced as Gastone’s words echoed in her mind. Draco, her son—the name Giselle had longed to hear but believed was lost to her forever. Her hands trembled as she clutched the hem of her dress, a flood of emotions overwhelming her.
"How can I trust you?" Giselle whispered, her voice fragile yet tinged with the sharp edge of suspicion. "How do I know you’re not lying to manipulate me, Gastone? You’ve already played games with my mind."
Gastone knelt beside her, his expression softening. "Giselle, I may be many things, but I would never lie about something this important. Draco is alive, and he’s waiting for you." He paused, his tone growing earnest. "I know the pain you carry. I know what it’s like to lose everything, to feel betrayed. But this... this is real."
Giselle looked away, her mind racing. She wanted to believe Gastone, to grasp the hope he offered, but the scars of betrayal ran deep. Rocco’s actions, the exile, and the years of silence—how could she risk reopening wounds that had only begun to heal?
"Why now?" Giselle asked, her voice breaking. "Why come to me after all these years? If Draco wanted me, why didn’t he come himself?"
Gastone sighed. "He couldn’t, and we didn’t want him to leave since... he became unstable after finding your paintings and a portrait made by Rocco," he explained slowly.
"My portrait... It’s still there," Giselle whispered, eyes wide as she thought all her presence in the Werewolf realm was erased.
"Well, yes, but it was hidden until it was found later on," Gastone explained with a smile. "I’m actually surprised you’re Draco’s mother. I’m still unsure when I came here, actually."
Giselle closed her eyes, taking a deep, shaky breath. The weight of the decision pressed heavily on her. "So, you want me to return to the Werewolf realm to meet Draco..."
"Yes," Gastone replied. However, a part of him wanted Giselle to leave the human realm to save the children from being killed and sold. It was a win-win situation for him.
"Give me time," Giselle finally said, her voice steady but laced with emotion. "I need to think about this."
