Chapter 300: The Kind of Glow
Chapter 300: The Kind of Glow
Felissa was currently sitting in front of the mirror, and Idola was trying to fix her messy hair. She was starting her day, yet, she was already tired and wanted to sleep again.
*Knock knock*
A knock on the door took Felissa’s attention. "Come in," she stated.
Vicenzo entered and bowed. "Good morning, Lady Felissa. I have a piece of news to deliver," he stated firmly.
"What is it?" Felissa asked without looking back at Vicenzo. She didn’t have the strength to push herself to a man who didn’t want her.
"Alpha and Luna Nucci of the Midnight pack arrived at the Palace earlier, Lady Felissa. They are currently in Queen Rosina’s office and waiting for you," Vicenzo explained, and he could see how Felissa’s face turned pale.
"Th-thank you, Sir Vicenzo," Felissa replied and cold sweat formed on her forehead. She wasn’t expecting her parents to make an effort to go in the Sabrecrown pack.
"Idola, please pack my stuff," Felissa stated before standing up. She knew what her parents came for and wanted to prepare if something happened.
"Lady..." Idola was surprised but couldn’t argue. After all, she was only a Palace servant given to serve Felissa during the event.
Vicenzo’s face hardened upon knowing that Felissa might leave the Palace sooner than he expected. He watched Felissa walk passed him without a word.
Both of them went to Rosina’s office silently, and Felissa didn’t let Vicenzo announce her arrival. She opened the door and saw her parents sitting across from Rosina.
"You’re here, Lady Felissa," Rosina said while drinking warm milk. She could sense that Felissa’s mood was destroyed by her parent’s arrival.
"Your Majesty, mom, dad," Felissa greeted and lowered her head out of respect.
"Come here," Rosina stated softly, gesturing for Felissa to sit on the sofa.
Felissa was supposed to sit beside her parents, but she sat next to Rosina.
Rosina raised an eyebrow, but she didn’t say a thing. Somehow, she was surprised that Felissa had grown some boldness, even if it was just a little oppression.
"What are you doing, Felissa?" Renata, Felissa’s mother, spoke in shock. For her, it was disrespectful to do in front of Rosina.
"I’m not doing anything, mother," Felissa replied gently. She felt nervous about the outcome of their conversation.
"I won’t beat around the bush, Your Majesty. We came here to check on our daughter since she wasn’t able to come back home after the Mating Event ended," Aroldo, Felissa’s father, explained to Rosina and watched her daughter’s reaction. He saw how Felissa flinched a little at what he stated.
"Ah, Alpha Nucci. I understand your concern, but Lady Felissa wants to oversee the Sabrecrown pack. After all, many changes here are worth seeing," Rosina replied elegantly, trying to calm the atmosphere between them.
"Hmm, indeed. The pack has changed too much since the last time I stepped in here," Aroldo agreed with a nod. He looked around the office and admired the fancy design and items inside the room.
"Your Majesty, don’t you think our daughter is very lovely?" Renata asked with a big smile, but Felissa knew it was a fake expression her mother was using.
"Yes, Lady Felissa is lovely and charming," Rosina replied. She was waiting for Renata to drop the bomb for her.
"I see, perhaps, any noble suitors caught by her charms back in the Mating Event?" Renata hinted about the original plan of Felissa finding a husband. She looked at Felissa for an answer, but she looked away.
"Hmm, Luna Nucci. Maybe you’re taking the new rules too lightly. I don’t allow political or financial marriages between werewolves that are not true mates," Rosina stated firmly to show that she was serious about it. She put down her cup and placed her hands on her thighs.
Renata opened her mouth to speak to argue, but Aroldo grabbed her arm to stop her wife from creating a fight with the new Queen.
"I understand, Your Majesty. It’s a good rule, but as you can see, I am sick and frail. The pack work is too much for me to handle, and we need a replacement for me anytime soon, so I can rest," Aroldo explained their side for wanting Felissa, a husband.
"Pack work is indeed heavy, but are you willing to sacrifice your only daughter’s happiness for that? Lady Felissa hasn’t found her mate, but it won’t be long till she finds him," Rosina explained and helped them understand the situation.
Renata and Aroldo looked at one another to communicate. After all, they didn’t think about it.
"Mom, dad. I want to find my true mate. I’m sorry if I can’t fulfil my duty as your daughter, but I can’t see myself getting married to a man that I don’t love," Felissa stated her side of the topic. After all, it was her future, and she didn’t want to be miserable for years because of one single decision.
Renata was holding her anger, but she couldn’t help but glare at Felissa. For her, she was ruining the plan that was initially made before she left. Then, she glanced at Rosina, whom she assumed was a bad influence on her daughter.
Rosina felt Renata’s bad energy, which made her laugh at how selfish Felissa’s mother was.
"As you can see. Draco and I are true mates, and we want the whole realm to feel what it’s like to have someone that will accept and love you wholeheartedly. That’s why we implemented this rule to prevent unwanted marriages that lead to unhappiness," Rosina explained. For her, it was enough to drop the topic of Felissa’s political marriage proposal.
"Your Majesty, I don’t want to see my husband suffer any longer," Renata pushed further and tried to find another way for Rosina to agree. She wasn’t giving up that fast.
"Hmm, seems like you have someone in your mind, Luna Nucci. Perhaps, a noble wolf came to your back and proposed to the hand of your daughter?" Rosina grinned when she saw Renata’s face become paler and glanced at her husband.
"Rosina," Felissa whispered in fear. She didn’t want to think that her parents would agree to that kind of decision.
"How did you know?" Renata asked, but her question was ignored.
"Is it Lord Fabio Zetticci, the second son of Alpha Zetticci of Skykrill pack?" Rosina asked with a raised eyebrow. She didn’t have to hear their answer since it was shown on their faces.
"I don’t know how you knew about it, but yes. Lord Fabio asked for Felissa’s hand in marriage, and he’s willing to take the Alpha’s responsibility immediately," Renata stated to further explain herself.
"I see. Then are you willing to sacrifice your daughter’s life for a man that is not her mate?" Rosina asked to know the end of their conversation.
"I—" Renata couldn’t continue her words when Aroldo spoke.
"That’s enough, Renata! You are crossing the line!" Aroldo shouted, which surprised his wife when he raised his voice at her. He faced Rosina and stood up. "My deepest apology for my wife’s behavior," he stated and bowed.
"It’s alright, Alpha Nucci. I can see that you adore your daughter, unlike your wife," Rosina said with a knowing smile to provoke Renata. She wondered how Renata was so voracious about her daughter’s life.
"My apologies. We will get back to the pack and wait for the day Felissa can find her true mate," Aroldo replied and nodded at her.
"Yes, but if you really want to rest from the position, Alpha Nucci. There is another way," Rosina grinned and took a bite of a cookie.
"What might be it, Your Majesty?" Aroldo replied with interest.
"Felissa can step in as the new ruler of the Midnight pack. I can accept and support that decision. After all, she was schooled to become a fine Luna one day," Rosina suggested, and Felissa was shocked that she brought it up.
"Hah!? A Luna without an Alpha? That’s ridiculous!" Renata was bewildered at what she heard. After all, she hadn’t learned a Luna ruling over the pack alone without an Alpha.
"And sometimes I wonder if Lady Felissa is your daughter at how mean and inconsiderate you are to her, Luna Nucci," Rosina stated, and this time, she boosted her voice since Renata had pushed her to the edge.
"Rosina," Felissa grabbed Rosina’s arm to stop her. She didn’t want a fight to break out between her family and her close friend.
"You!" Renata stood up to fight back. She felt insulted, and she didn’t want to stay still.
"Stop!" Aroldo yelled and gripped Renata’s arm firmly. "Behave!" he whispered aggressively and pushed Renata to sit down.
"I’m sorry for that, Your Majesty, about your suggestion. I will think about them. I want to know about my daughter’s decision for now," he added gently.
"Thank you, father... I actually want to stay here in the Palace. I desire to learn and grow more on how the realm works since it will help me in the future once I become a Luna!" Felissa exclaimed in delight, and her eyes showed how happy she was right there. That kind of glow never appeared when she was in the Midnight pack.
