Chapter 231: The Change of Plans
Rosina watched as Silvio grabbed Natale, pulling her away from Cleto. Natale was crying and trashing around since she didn’t want to be away from her husband.
"Are you okay?" Draco asked and grabbed Rosina by her waist, pulling her close.
Rosina nodded in response. She couldn’t take her eyes off Natale. Deep inside, she was afraid that she would be like her mother.
"Alright," Draco gave Rosina’s waist a slight squeeze before walking toward Cleto’s body and covering him in white cloth.
Draco and Silvio arrived at the scene after fifteen minutes. They followed Rosina’s mind link and her scent when they got closer.
Silvio had also been searching for Natale in the Northern forest after she had run off when he grabbed water for her.
"Silvio, bring my mother back into the pack house and make sure she won’t run off elsewhere," Rosina stated firmly, but her voice was harsh. She didn’t bother looking at Natale, who disagreed with her decision.
"No! I want to be with him!" Natale shouted and tried to run toward Cleto’s spot, but Silvio grabbed her waist and put her into his shoulder before walking to the pack house.
"What should we do to him?" Draco asked and gazed at Rosina. He saw the knife on the ground and took it to Rosina.
"I want the wild animals to feed on his flesh. Letting his body rot to the bones in this awful place... but Natale won’t forgive me if I do," Rosina chuckled and wiped the raindrop on her forehead. She looked up at the sky, where the grey clouds started to vanish. The rain also stopped pouring down.
"We should make a proper burial for him," Draco replied, but Rosina shook her head.
Rosina grabbed Draco and pulled him away from Cleto’s body. She bit her finger, making a wound and dropped her blood into the pendant.
"Rosina, what are you doing?" Draco asked in concern. He grabbed Rosina’s hand to stop her from hurting herself.
Rosina smiled at him and pointed at Cleto’s body.
The ground shook slightly, and an open portal appeared below Cleto’s body and swallowed him whole. The soil returned to its original state after the deed was done as if nothing had happened.
"What the—"Draco was shocked and confused at what he had seen. He rubbed his eyes to make sure he was not seeing things.
"I am not a regular wolf, Draco," Rosina smiled sadly into Draco. She stepped forward and caressed his face. She couldn’t help but smile at how handsome he was.
"Thank you for being patient with me," Rosina whispered and hugged Draco. The spark ignited between them like fireworks, warming their shivering body from the cold.
Draco sighed in contentment and hugged Rosina back. "No, you don’t need to thank me," he stated. He felt happy at how Rosina showed affection toward him.
Rosina buried her face into Draco’s chest. She wanted to say so many things to him, but she couldn’t form any words.
"I’m sorry I’m there when you need me the most," Draco whispered. He felt terrible for Rosina to see what had happened between her parents. He knew that she must be hurting inside.
"It’s alright. I realize something," Rosina pulled back and stared into Draco’s eyes.
"What is it?" Draco asked with a curious gaze.
"Sometimes, the best thing about the worst times of your life is that you get to see the true colors of everyone," Rosina said and giggled.
Rosina had killed countless wolves around the realm, even other races and creatures. The thing she noticed was that their true colors would come out when they knew it was their time.
"Yeah," Draco agreed since he had also witnessed the same reactions. "I guess Cleto shows his true self," he said and saw Rosina furrowed her eyebrows.
"But it’s too late for him. The amount of damage he did can’t pay for the kindness he showed at his last breath," Rosina replied and turned around.
"Okay, we should head home now, or you’ll get sick," Draco took Rosina’s hand and pulled her with him, returning to the pack house. He had many questions in mind, but he didn’t ask since he wanted Rosina to feel better first.
Rosina let herself be taken. She looked at Draco’s muscular back that contracted against the cold.
After what Rosina witnessed, all of her current and future plans changed. Her perspective had altered as well.
"Draco, I want to cuddle," Rosina stated sweetly and grabbed Draco’s arm, putting her chin up to look at him.
"What!?" Draco stopped walking and looked at her in disbelief. "What did you say? I didn’t hear it quite well," he said with a wide smile.
Rosina rolled her eyes since she knew Draco was teasing him. "You just want to hear it again," she said with a pout.
"Of course, it’s rare for you to say such stuff," Draco chuckled and waited for Rosina. His ears started to get red from the anticipation.
"I said... I want to cuddle!" Rosina shouted before running away from Draco due to the embarrassment.
Draco’s smile widened up to his ears. Happiness burst inside him and warmed his chest. He ran after Rosina and grabbed her waist, twirling her around.
"Yes, I will cuddle with you," Draco chirped.
Both of them walked back to the pack house with their hands holding one another.
Rosina couldn’t help but look back in the direction where Cleto was last seen. She didn’t feel sorry for him but rather thankful because what had happened made her realize that she should value what she had.
’I don’t want to be like my parents,’ Rosina thought while gazing at Draco’s electric blue eyes. She wanted to protect him at all costs.
And that was how Rosina would form another plan, not for herself but for Draco. She wanted to protect him against the Queen, who wanted his head on a silver platter.
