Chapter 227: The Escape of the Abuser
Natale sighed deeply. She was currently in the kitchen with Silvio making a batch of milk cookies.
"Sir Silvio, how long have you been Rosina’s personal guard?" Natale asked softly. Although she was far more older than Silvio. Her features still made her look much younger than her actual age.
"It’s been a while, but I don’t remember the exact days," Silvio replied. Standing a meter away from Natale, he observed what she was doing.
"I see," Natale replied with a smile. She bit her lips and looked up at Silvio. "What does my daughter do when she’s in the Third Prince residence before?" she asked.
"Hmm," Silvio rubbed his chin while thinking. "Well, Princess Rosina is kind to the servants, but she has been keeping her own business to herself," he stated.
"Thank you for that information," Natale smiled genuinely while molding the dough in the pan.
"Is there something that troubled you, Miss Natale," Silvio asked in concern since he noticed Natale’s expression.
"Miss?" Natale asked with amusement. She couldn’t help but laugh at how Silvio addressed her.
Silvio furrowed his eyebrow. "I believe you ended your marriage to your husband; hence, you are now a Miss. Am I wrong?" Silvio asked since he wanted to avoid making another mistake.
"No, it’s fine. I like that," Natale chuckled and placed the pan on the oven, putting more wood for added heat.
"Okay," Silvio replied, and the two of them remained silent for a couple of seconds.
Natale wiped her hand with a white cloth. She sighed and glanced at Silvio, who was looking intently at her.
"My daughter has a rough past relationship with her father. After all that, she’s still a lovely and sweet child. Even after she returned to the pack for the Mating Event, nothing changed, but when this whole war began. I notice the changes, and I’m glad. She became a strong wolf," Natale stated as happy tears streamed from her eyes. She hurriedly wiped it since she was embarrassed to be seen by Silvio.
"Princess Rosina is indeed a strong she-wolf. You don’t have to worry about her anymore," Silvio stated to reassure Natale. He went toward her and opened his arms to offer a hug of comfort.
Natale smiled and proceeded to hug Silvio gently. They had been together for a few days, but she felt closer to Silvio after spending time together.
Both their bodies touched as they hugged. The spark felt on their skin was tiny, but it exploded the more they had physical touch.
"Ah!" Natale immediately stepped back since the spark wasn’t warm or pleasant to the feeling but rather painful. She felt as if she was electrified.
"Did you feel that?" Silvio asked and looked at his hand, where the spark remained tingling.
"Yes! Goddess! What does that mean!?" Natale exclaimed and rubbed her arms where the spark was trailing on her pores.
Now, both of them were confused and frightened at the meaning behind the spark. They looked at one another in concern as no words came out of their mouth.
The warm atmosphere became awkward as both of them looked away. Only the crackles of the burning wood were heard.
The door burst open, and Cirino went inside with panicked eyes. He looked at Silvio and Natale, noticing the awkwardness, but he shrugged it off since there was something important he needed to tell them.
"Natale... Your husband has escaped the dungeon," Cirino stated while breathing heavily.
Natale gasped, and she felt all her energy vanish from her body. Her knees buckled as she fell to the floor, but she was able to grab onto the table to lessen the impact.
Silvio was about to help Natale, but he stopped before he could touch her. He retracted his hands and took a step back.
"Oh my goddess, where is he now?" Natale asked while trying to maintain her composure.
"The knights and warriors have been searching for him. He is going to the forest. His scent has faded, but it’s still there. Although, it isn’t enough to catch him. I come here since he might come for you," Cirino warned and gazed at Silvio.
Silvio nodded since he knew what he needed to do. He ignored the sparks when he grabbed Natale’s arm and pulled her up.
"We need to get you to safety," Silvio stated, dragging Natale to a safer place.
"My cookies," Natale called out while looking back at the oven.
"I’ll take care of it. You need to hide now!" Cirino exclaimed and waved goodbye. He went to the oven and pulled out the pan to see the cookies were already cooked. He placed the pan on the table and covered it with a clean cloth before grabbing one as he went out.
The entire 12th pack were in chaos, searching for Cleto’s whereabouts.
Rosina stood at the entrance of the forest. She watched as the knights and warriors ran around and sniffed the air.
"Ah, I wonder how you managed to escape," Rosina questioned as she cracked her neck from side to side. She wasn’t angry but rather disappointed at Biagio, Draco’s Gamma, for letting Cleto escape.
"Rosina," Draco called for her while running. His face showed panic and embarrassment.
"Where is Biagio?" Rosina asked while glancing at Draco.
"He’s in the medical room. He was knocked out by Cleto upon escaping. Also, I can’t believe what you did to Theta upon going to the 11th pack," Draco said in disbelief when he saw the female Theta lying unconscious on the bed.
Draco was fine if Rosina decided to leave the 12th pack and went to join their battle with the 11th pack, but she had hurt a Theta for it, which made him baffled. He knew that Rosina murdered wolves differently, and she was heartless for doing it.
But Draco didn’t understand how Rosina hurt an innocent wolf.
"Alright," Rosina gave Draco a nod before going to the medical room. She needed to see Biagio and read his mind.
Draco flinched and grabbed her arm, stopping her.
"No, don’t go there," Draco acted quickly without thinking about the consequences. For him, he needed to protect Biagio in case Rosina would burst into a rage for his failure to keep Cleto in the dungeon. Aside from that, Bertrando was also resting there.
Rosina looked back with a furrowed eyebrow. She understood if Draco didn’t want her to visit the medical room after what she did to the female Theta, but she saw the distrust on Draco’s face.
Somehow, Rosina felt a sting of pain in her chest, and she didn’t like it.
Rosina swatted Draco’s hand and glared at him. She didn’t say a word before continuing to walk.
Draco stood there on his spot while watching Rosina’s back. He knew what he had done and wanted to smack his face for it. He felt like ham inside the sandwich, squeezed by the two buns.
"Oh, goddess!" Draco face-palmed and looked at the forest and toward Rosina. He wondered whether to search for Cleto or make sure to protect his men.
Rosina was biting the inner corner of her cheeks. She was pissed, and she didn’t know why. She burst into the medical room and searched for Biagio, who was sleeping on the bed beside Bertrando.
"There you are," Rosina muttered and walked toward him. Her aura radiated dominance and irritation that the other Theta immediately felt, enough to make their wolves cower in fear.
Elina, the Theta that Rosina knocked out, was still in bed since she was still unwell from what had happened. She whimpered after gazing at Rosina’s appearance and covered herself.
"Be thankful you’re still alive," Rosina glanced at Elina and rolled her eyes. She didn’t care about her.
"Ye-yes," Elina replied and hugged her knees to comfort herself inside the sheets.
Rosina stood beside Biagio’s bed. She looked at the bruises and cuts on his face and body.
Biagio was naked and had a massive wound on his chest, which was wrapped with a white cloth.
"You got his revenge," Rosina whispered while shaking her head. She sighed and put her hand into Biagio’s head and closed her eyelids when a bright green glowed from her eyes since she didn’t want the Theta’s looking at her to see it.
Rosina wanted to see the memories Biagio had upon the beating happened. She couldn’t help but flinch every time Biagio was hurt by Cleto. She retracted her hands as she started to sweat.
"Alright," Rosina sighed deeply before glancing at Bertrando, who was also unconscious. She didn’t know why he was there but decided to search for her father first.
Rosina went through the back door, which led directly to the forest. She sniffed the air and noticed that Cleto’s scent was everywhere.
"I will find you, father, and if I do. You will regret it," Rosina whispered with wrath before shifting into her wolf form and howling loudly to the sky.
