Chapter 84: Chapter 84- Clean Up

AUTHORS POV~

It had been a full hour since Thomas had called Cindy, and in that time, he and Micheal had busied themselves cleaning the apartment with a fervor that left no corner untouched.

They worked diligently to restore the space to its former glory, setting aside casual conversation as they focused on the task at hand. The living room, which had been cluttered with wayward books piled hazardly across every surface, was a particularly challenging area to tackle. Together, they meticulously gathered the scattered books, pamphlets, and magazines, placing them neatly within the drawers of the TV stand and in various nooks around the living room. Each book found its home, and with every lid that closed, a sense of satisfaction filled the two of them.

Once the apartment sparkled again, Thomas didn’t stop there. He had decided to go the extra mile and cook an entire meal from scratch. Meanwhile, Michael had taken it upon himself to run out for some beers, ensuring they had the perfect drink to complement the culinary perfection Thomas was sure to create. By the time he returned, the air was thick with mouthwatering aromas, a fragrant symphony that promised a feast worthy of kings.

"Wow!" Michael exclaimed, dropping the beer pack onto the counter as he walked into the kitchen. His eyes widened in amazement at the sight before him. Thomas had really outdone himself, and it was clear from the rows of pots and pans lined up like dominoes that he had invested time and effort into this meal.

"You really went all out, didn’t you?" Michael said, a soft chuckle escaping his lips as he took in the sight of the exquisite spread. The kitchen countertop was a whirlwind of color and texture, ingredients artfully arranged, and an intoxicating aroma that threatened to never leave the air.

"I don’t slack when it comes to these things," Thomas replied a lighthearted tone in his voice. A smile broke across Michael’s face; he appreciated the effort his friend put into every occasion.

As the tantalizing scents wafted around them, Michael began to back away, heading toward the hallway. "I’m going to go take a shower," he announced, but paused for a moment at the threshold, glancing back at Thomas.

"I really appreciate this." He said, His tone filled with sincerity, and at that moment, gratitude hung in the air, Micheal wanted to proceed but he noticed a mischievous grin on Thomas’s face.

"What did you do?" He immediately asked.

"Well, while you were out, Cindy called," Thomas answered but paused so Micheal could keep up.

"What did she say?"

"Well, she’s bringing a friend." He said hesitantly, Micheal didn’t look bothered he liked the idea more, with Thomas around there was a lower chance of anything unwanted happening.

"Oh alright then no problem." Micheal said, "You using the guest toilet or you’re going back to your place first?"

"They’ll be here in a couple minutes so I don’t have time for that so I’ll just use the guest toilet." He answered as he took off the apron and placed it back in the cabinet it belonged.

It took a few minutes but the both of them finally emerged from their respective showers, with towels wrapped around their waists and a smaller one in their hands as they dried off their wet hair. Thomas’s body was designed with so many tattoos that it was hard to see his actual skin a deep contrast to Micheal which was spotless and tanned.

"How long till they get—" Before he could complete the sentence there was a ring at the door.

"They are here," Thomas said with a cheeky smile, as he started walking towards the door.

"Are you crazy we need to put some clothes on," Micheal said as he held onto his wrist and pulled him back.

"Relax broda." Thomas chuckled as Micheal released his hand, he picked up a dark singlet and put it on.

"There." He said, Micheal grumbled hesitantly but let him go as he walked into the rooms to get dressed. Through the walls, he could hear Thomas exchanging greetings with the ladies so he hurriedly wore a grey shirt and deep blue shorts and ran back outside.

"Hey." He greeted them as he walked back into the room and immediately locked eyes with Cindy, she smiled at him, delighting her at the sight of him but Thomas and the other girl were nowhere to be found.

"Hey." He greeted nervously

"Hey, stranger." She replied with a warm smile as she shook the hand he had awkwardly extended towards her.

"I’m sorry about the other day." He apologized as he nervously scratched the back of his head.

"It’s ok, It’s in the past so let’s just have a good time today and forget about it." She said with a warm smile, He nodded as she stepped past him and began looking around the space.

"You’re very tidy." She complimented as she continued her inspection, he chuckled nervously, if only she knew the disorganized nightmare this place was a few hours ago. She eventually put down her bag and that reminded him of something that had escaped his mind after he heard her voice.

"Where Thomas and your friend." He asked. She slowly turned to look at him.

"Turns out they already knew each other so they are in the hallway outside catching up or something, I don’t really care." She answered but a chuckle escaped her lips when she got to the last part of the sentence.

"You have that kind of friend too huh?" He said as he sat down.

"The kind that pulls you out of your house to go to a party at 3 am, Yes." She chuckled.

"I love him but the guys are not right in the head," Micheal said matching her humorous tone, She smiled in agreement as she walked to the chair he sat on and comfortably sat beside him. Her scent wafted, Vanilla with a slight hint of chocolate and something floral.

"Wow." He said quietly, She turned to him about to ask why he said then when the door creaked open and Thomas and her friend walked in.

"Hey man, This is—" Thomas was about to introduce but before he could finish she completed it

"Lorelei, but you can call me Lori." She said with a warm smile.
