Alpha Damon's Greatest Regret -
Chapter 75- Savior
Chapter 75: Chapter 75- Savior
AUTHORS POV~
He sat still on the cold hard bench, the cold metal of the restraints holding his skinny hands together. The room was dark, with the only source of light being the dimly lit bulb on the ceiling that was barely able to illuminate the area it was positioned But you could still make out his grey bushy hair, his dry dark lips, and sunken brown eyes.
He had almost forgotten how long he had been here, all he knew was that now and again his restraints were released and he would be brought food.
"All the merry, go round and round and—" He mumbled a song but stopped when he forget the words and rhythm "Fuck." He cursed bitterly. A life sentence, he had no idea how long he had spent inside this room. At first, he had tried to keep up with the time by counting every minute and recording it but after the first month he had stopped and since then he had been in here, isolated from the outside world, the only record of a passing day being the guard who would hastily shove food through the opening on the door. Mentally he may have been sound but physically he was drained and had long since past his limit, But at the very least he could still count on his mind.
He had always been proud of it, a rare gem, unsullied by no form of stupidity or irrationality, just intentional and perfected genius he told himself. His excuse for his insanity would always be scientific advancement but that didn’t hold up well with people who couldn’t give two fucks about science.
"Jacob." He heard a dry voice say from the other side of the door, his head snapped up, his brown sunken eyes staring at the heavy metal.
"Yes." He answered quietly then there was a snap, His eyes glimmered as he realized what was happening, they had finally realized his worth and were releasing him. He winced as the door shifted open and the bright light of the halls shot into the cell and against his sensitive eyes. A man stood at the door, piercing grey eyes looking at him with a sharp smile curving the ends of his lips.
"Who are you?" Jacob asked, his voice raspy and dry.
"Your savior." Luther with a malicious smile curving his lips.
"What do you want?"
"You," Luther said as he walked into the cell with a set of keys.
"I won’t be anyone’s slave." Jacob spat, Luther chuckled as he knelt in front of him inserted the key into the locks, and undid the restraints, they clinked loudly as they fell to the floor.
He rose back to his feet and looked at him with a smile.
"No one said anything about you being a slave my friend." Jacob squinted in suspicion as he stood from where he had been sitting, he rubbed his sore wrist and then looked back at Luther.
"Then?"
"I need you and that beautiful mind of yours," Luther answered as he walked out of the cell, Jacob was hesitant at first but after a few seconds he followed after him, as he stepped out of the cell he first took in the scenery, he was at a penitentiary but it wasn’t the one he remembered being put in. There were five floors and a wide opening at the roof that let the warm afternoon light pour in. He took in a deep satisfying breath of fresh air.
"Good to be out?" Luther asked as he leaned patiently against the railing.
"More than you know." He answered as they began to walk "How long has it been?"
"8 years," Luther answered coldly as they descended the stairs that would take them to the ground floor.
"8 years." He repeated in astonishment as he continued his descent but stopped at the last step.
"What?" Luther asked.
"Nothing. I’m just thinking about how much time has been wasted while I rotted in that cell."
"Hope the years haven’t gotten to you," Luther said, but Jacob knew it was a question and his performance would be the answer.
"No worries." He said as he flashed a smile with his crooked stained teeth, Luther tried to hide his disgust but it still showed, Jacob frowned but he couldn’t blame Luther for his reaction, he had been locked up in there for 8 years and the only thing he had been doing that was close to a bath would be when the guard would come and spray him with a high power hose.
They exited the large building and went straight to the car park to take Luther’s car and hit the road. The drive was quiet, a podcast played through the radio at a very low volume, serving as nothing but filler and background noise in addition to the sound of a busy road.
"You’re from I.O.W.A" Jacob said as if stating a fact, Luther didn’t react to the sudden statement, instead, he kept his eyes fixed on the road as he asked.
"Why do you think that?"
"You walked out of there with one of their most secured prisoners and no one even said a word to you."
"I could be FBI. I could have brided them beforehand. The possibilities are endless"
"They are not, as my case and imprisonment were under I.O.W.A jurisdiction, only a member, and a high-ranking one at that would be able to have me released just like that."
"Hmm, I’m glad."
"Why?"
"Your brain still works as well as if did," Luther answered happily as he stepped on the accelerator and the car zoomed forward with a roar.
He stepped out of the car and with eyes of wonder looked upon the cause of his imprisonment, the building was twice as tall as he could remember. Luther walked to his side and gently tapped his back.
"Let’s go." He said and they began walking up the stairs and entered into the building.
