Chapter 64: Chapter 64- Consequences
SIMON~
As I walked through the warehouse I was met with the empty echoes of my footsteps, the space was void of life. Filled with blackness and shadows of the large colored crate that filled the massive space, the only source of light being the cylindrical bulbs above that led to a secluded crate at the far end of the warehouse.
"Why?" I exhaled with exhaustion, I turned around to Leo who stood at the entrance waiting for me, I wanted to go back, already I was tired of his childish antics but I had to do what needed to be done, so I turned back to the crate. I walked through it’s heavy metal doors and followed the stairs that led down into the purple lit room. I looked around the room filled with marijuana, its scent thick in the air, managing to be pleasant and unpleasant at the same time, I looked around the rows and rows of flourishing plants and a smile crept onto my lips.
"Simon." A deep voice said from the end of the room which was for some reason shrouded in darkness, why was that the only dark spot, I turned my head to the source of the voice and the light turned on, flashing, flickering, and illuminating the once dark corner in its soft purple glow, I almost let out a disappointed sigh but held myself back.
He sat on a foldable chair with his hands locked together and his eyes fixed on me, was he trying to intimidate me? If that was what these series of questionable presentation choices were meant to accomplish then sadly it was having the opposite effect.
"Are you Jermaine?" I asked, my voice weak with exhaustion, he raised his scattered dreaded hair and faced me with a witty smile on his lips.
"Nah, the name Spark." He said with a smile curving his pink lips.
"Spark?" I repeated with surprise, but honestly, I was a little thankful it wasn’t him, it would have been sad for the man who built a pack from nothing to be going to such childish length "Where’s your Alpha?" I asked coldly.
"Sorry, the boss doesn’t want to talk to your sorry ass." He said snidely.
"Really?"
"He told me to relay a message though." He said as he stood up from the chair and walked towards me with the phone in his hand.
"Here.", I took the phone from him and looked at it, it was an ongoing call that seemed to have started the moment I entered the room.
"Jermaine?"
"Yes." The person said through the shaky connection of the call.
"Where are you?" I asked, annoyance bubbling within me.
"Howlcreek." He answered dryly, as I heard his reply I immediately understood what was going on.
"You’re going back on your word."
"I’m not, you still have ownership of all of the pack’s assets and holdings, the people will be under your command the only thing different is, that I won’t be on your side," Jermaine explained, his voice steady with certainty, every word he spoke made it clear his mind was made up.
"You were also part of that deal." I reminded.
"Unfortunately yes, but I no longer am, I can give you the pack but my knees will never bend in your presence." He said and somehow I was pleased, I was glad the man who sat on the foldable chair wasn’t Jermaine.
"Really, but you expect your people to."
"My people aren’t fighters, they didn’t make the decision, I created a pack so they would have a home, I won’t compromise that home. No matter what." He replied sternly.
"You’re on the wrong side." I cautioned knowing full well my words would mean the same to him as that of a madman.
"Maybe, maybe he’ll lose but I won’t waver." He replied, the certainty in his voice apparent and without flaw.
"Is this about pride?" I asked, wanting to know what prompted this amount of certainty.
"Pride?" He repeated with a cynical tone "I don’t give a shit about pride, men who care about that fucking thing are either dead or soon to be, I’m doing this cause I want to." A smile curved my lips, I respected the man on the other end of this call.
"I respect your choice"
"I respect what you’re doing Simon, but I don’t support the way you choose to do it." He said then paused for a few seconds before he continued "Maybe I’m making the wrong choice, maybe your hands will even be the very ones that take my life but that doesn’t matter, all that matters to me is keeping my promises.", I chuckled softly.
"You know they are consequences to your actions."
"I’ll accept them." He replied bluntly, this man was so sure it made me admire him more.
"They won’t always apply to you," I said then cut the call before he could reply, I tossed the phone back to Spark.
"Done?" He asked.
"Yeah, just one more thing," I said.
"What’s th—" Before he could complete his sentence I blitzed in front of him and with all my strength threw my fist into his face and sent it into the metal wall behind him, he let out an inaudible scream as he coughed out blood but before he fell to his knees I kicked his stomach and sent him flying into the roof, his body carved a dent into the celling before he fell to the floor with a violent thud, I picked him up by his collar and slammed him into a metal table, he screamed out in pain but I didn’t relent as I locked my hands together and smashed directly on the bridge of his chest, the impact made him bounce like a ball, as his eyes rolled to the back of his head and he passed out.
"Leo," I called and he immediately walked into the room, I turned to him and with a sly grin I gave the order.
"Burn it to the ground."
