"Chloe Stephens, can we find a place to talk? Perhaps you’ll change your mind."
Angela Dutton immediately invited Chloe to discuss elsewhere.
Chloe got in the car with her.
In the car, Chloe detected a faint scent.
So faint it was barely there.
Chloe lightly clenched her fist, clearing away the faint smell.
Angela glanced at Chloe, "I know the Stephens Family has a high status in Sheffield City, but you, Chloe, don’t seem to have any personal honour, do you? Family background is important, but as a member of the family, don’t you think you should demonstrate your own abilities to the outside world?"
Chloe looked at the scenery outside the car, ignoring Angela, and said coldly, "The power and influence of the Stephens Family is enough."
She didn’t want to try anymore.
There’s nothing wrong with being idle.
Angela was slightly taken aback; she didn’t expect a girl like this to utter such words.
"Chloe, you’re young and don’t realize that honour not only benefits the family, but it also significantly helps oneself."
"So doctors are getting involved in the chess arena now?"
Her sudden question interrupted what Angela was saying.
Astonished, Angela stared at Chloe for a moment, then suddenly laughed, "What are you talking about, Chloe?"
"Your work is research, you shouldn’t be involved in chess affairs," Thus, why was she approached?
Chloe watched Angela quietly.
Angela met Chloe’s gaze, smiled again, "Indeed I used to be a doctor, but I haven’t participated in any research work. Where did you hear about it from, Chloe? Now I can tell you for sure that although I studied medicine, my main job is now to develop the chess field."
Chloe withdrew her indifferent gaze and continued looking out the window, not paying Angela any more mind.

They arrived at a quiet place, with all the followers standing outside, leaving just the two of them.
Angela took out a contract, "Chloe, you can take a look at our proposed contract, of course, you can also take it back for your family to read and then invite a lawyer to sign."
Chloe took the contract, nodded, then got up to leave.
"Chloe, I might not have made it clear, joining the National Team is not just a simple condition."
She was trying to bait Chloe again.
But Chloe was not interested.
Angela smiled, "I hope you can go back and think about it. When we meet next time, we can sit down and talk about cooperation in earnest."
Chloe took the contract and left.
Angela didn’t stop her from leaving.
Not far away, Chloe reached into her file bag and felt a thin, paper-like circle inside.
It was a listening device!
She took out the contract from inside, glanced at the last stamp, and looked at the remaining useful information around the other areas.
Confirming that she hadn’t missed anything, she crumpled it up into a ball and threw it into a trash can, then got on a bus that had just stopped in front.
As the bus moved from stop to stop, Chloe stared at the passengers getting on and off, her lips pressed together, lost in thought.

Meanwhile, at the Stephens residence.
Adam Stephens had obtained some clues from the Taylors, which he put on the table and discussed with a few trusted individuals.
He glanced at the serious expressions on everyone’s faces and said, "From the beginning of this investigation, I knew this case would be complicated. According to the Taylors, those beasts first appeared in mountain county, attacking several times, the last time targeting my wife."
If he hadn’t accessed the Taylor records, he wouldn’t have known that such an event had occurred in the mountain county.
And during the two attacks, his daughter happened to be at the scene each time.
He was unaware of Chloe’s involvement in the incidents in Sheffield City.
Everyone listening fell silent, as this case seemed difficult to solve.
They couldn’t find any clues themselves, implications of a deep secret behind it all.
"No matter what you think, I, Adam Stephens, will get to the bottom of this, even if it means cooperating with the Taylors."
First, the issue involved the Taylor family, then moved to his own family, with the shadow of Western Europe also looming.
The advanced technology, absolutely no less important than that possessed by Old Master Patterson of the Imperial Capital.
Which means they were no less influential than the officially recognized technology tycoon in Herta Kingdom, they truly couldn’t think of who else it could be.
Behind those beasts, there seemed to be a hidden, mysterious force.
This force was unknown in every aspect.
The unknown induces fear.
The other members of Stephens family suggested they stop the investigation.
But Adam was persistent.
Unable to reach a conclusion, Adam disbanded the meeting, sitting alone in the small conference room, staring at the various documents on the table.
Rigorously investigating the leads from the Taylor family, even those originally involved in the research had been quickly dealt with by the Slaughter Squad.
After some time, an even more terrible beast suddenly appeared in mountain county.
They couldn’t assure that the next beast that appeared wouldn’t be stronger than the one that attacked Yvette Foster.
Elliot Xenos, standing at the door of the small meeting room, knocked lightly, "The family leader wants you to come over, it’s about the investigation."
Adam picked up the documents on the table, nodded at Elliot, and strode out.
To Building 1.
Entering the innermost hall, upon seeing the gloomy face of Pierce Stephens, Adam felt a sudden dread, "Father."
Pierce glanced at the information in his hand, didn’t inquire, then said coldly, "Your mother is in trouble."
Adam clutched the information in his hand and stared at Pierce, "When did this happen? How is she? Where is she now..."
"Just before you entered this door, your mother just ended a call with me, and it was terminated forcibly..."
He had already ordered the Network Security Department to contact and find Charlotte Richardson’s whereabouts.
Unfortunately, the tracker on Charlotte was destroyed, they couldn’t find any signal.
The sudden cut-off indicated someone was harming Charlotte.
The person accompanying Charlotte couldn’t be reached either.
The Network Security Department called, Pierce answered immediately.
The reply was that Charlotte had completely disappeared.
"Get in touch with everyone in Dark City immediately, we need to find her!"
Pierce hung up the phone, started calling other people, each sentence more desperate and frantic than the last, yearning to be by Charlotte’s side right now.
After the last call, Pierce dialed Caden Reid directly, "Go to Dark City with your men, find my wife."
Caden was startled on the other end.
Without asking why, he immediately gathered manpower and rushed towards Dark City.
In Dark City, many areas couldn’t use communication, only designated locations had internet connection, which made messaging inconvenient for everyone.
Adam took a deep breath and said, "Father, I’ll go to Dark City myself, where was Mother last seen?"
"No," Pierce rejected adamantly this time.
Adam was taken aback.
Pierce realized his response was too swift, differing from usual, he softened his expression and said, "Sending you in now wouldn’t be of any help, it would only worry us more."
Adam furrowed his brows.
In the past, Pierce would never have said that.
Pierce felt that ancient martial artists should wander around Dark City more to gain experience.
But now, Pierce refused to let Adam take over.
Adam couldn’t help but feel puzzled.
