Chapter 309: Chapter 282: Life-and-Death Arena (1 more)
With a "whoosh", a noise erupted.
A helicopter fell from the sky suddenly.
"Boom!"
The enormous explosion left a ringing in the ears.
The helicopter burst into flames instantly.
Someone crawled out from inside.
Chloe Stephens saw the injuries of the individual, who was then lifted away for treatment by those nearby.
Suffice to say,
The scene was exhilarating.
The ancient martial artists sure know how to entertain.
"Bang!"
Another impact came from the sky, scattering debris and people.
The sight was brutal.
The onsite rescue team was efficient, carrying individuals away as soon as they landed.
The repair costs would be deducted from those involved.
*
In the sky,
Alex Stephens was being sandwich-attacked.
All the people were rushing towards him.
Forcing him into a corner.
Chloe Stephens lifted her head, watching the flying formation, with No. 9, Alex, being cornered in-between.
If Alex couldn’t handle it, it would be a disgrace to Building 3.
"Bang!"
Several planes simultaneously attacked No. 9 where Alex was.
His fighter was destroyed.
Alex crashed hard while Chloe quickly offered some assistance, slowing his fall.
Upon landing, Alex felt no pain.
Only the force of the collision in the sky was uncomfortable.
"How are you?"
Chloe Stephens stepped forward to check on Alex.
Alex lifted his hand, signalling the rescuers that he didn’t need to be lifted.
After climbing out of the plane, he said to Chloe, "I lost."
"Winning by picking on the weak doesn’t earn much honor."
Chloe turned to the workers, "I want to get a plane, No. 18."
The attendant quickly brought it over.
"Chloe?!"
Alex looked at her in surprise.
Chloe boarded the helicopter.
She pulled up the control stick after glancing at the console, making the helicopter shoot straight up.
The copter spun rapidly in the air.
Untrained individuals would surely vomit inside the cabin.
As soon as No.18 took off, all the other helicopters in the sky followed suit.
Attempting to repeat their previous stunt, Chloe twisted her copter dexterously, breaking through the encirclement like a swimming dragon.
"Bang!"
Due to mishandling, two helicopters collided with a mountain nearby, resulting in damages and injuries.
Chloe shot up into the sky.
Higher and higher, then she abruptly turned her copter at the cloud level, diving downwards!
The other helicopters turning pale at the sight frantically avoided her.
In their panic, another mishap occurred, a helicopter veered off to the side and smashed into an overhead antenna, sparking a fire.
A flurry of firefighting efforts ensued below.
*
"Bang bang bang!"
Watching No. 18 darting through the sky like a live eagle, Alex was astounded.
Chloe truly had extraordinary talent!
"Bang!"
The last two helicopters were knocked down, all alarmed by the copter that flew past their face and abruptly turned around to fly away.
Chloe’s technique was indeed ruthless.
With these unexpected attacks, no one could aim at the constantly moving target.
*
The helicopter gradually descended, and Alex hurried over.
"Are you okay?"
"I am fine."
Alex gave her a thumbs up!
Awesome!
Anthony and others were so furious that they felt like spitting out blood.
Another shock!
They couldn’t believe that they were defeated by someone they once considered as useless!
In their eyes, Chloe Stephens merely had a chance encounter outside, learned a little medical skills, and just had some minor talent.
Her physical condition was still laughably weak.
All things considered, she was still a waste.
So, no one took her seriously. Who would have thought that Chloe Stephens could actually beat them at something?
That absolutely destroyed their reputations.
A few people gathered in front sinisterly, disregarding their injuries, wanting to take the lives of Chloe and Alex Stephens.
"So you can’t win fair and square and now you want to play dirty? Can’t handle the loss?"
Alex coldly stepped forward, shielding Chloe.
As a direct descendant, Caleb Stephens was now leading them. Anthony Stephens used to curry favor with Rowan and now they are currying favor with Caleb.
In the matter of status, Caleb and Rowan were equivalent, and Alex didn’t even compare.
But now, Alex has become the direct descendant of Building 3, thus altering his status.
The turn of events was incredibly unsettling to them.
They couldn’t wait to eradicate it.
Who would have thought that someone previously worse off than them could suddenly transform and leap in front of them?
The disparity was too significant for them to accept.
Chloe stepped forward, patted the body of No. 18, and said to the workers: "Leave the helicopter here for now."
The workers immediately nodded, and had No. 18 moved away.
*
Caleb’s gaze swept over the two coldly, saying, "Rowan had such a strong support, but still lost in the end. Don’t think that just because you’ve entered Building 3 you can get what you want. Building 3 has just recruited someone to protect this piece of trash, you’ll regret it later. Let’s go."
With a wave of Caleb’s hand, everyone followed him and left.
Alex watched them leave without saying a word.
"As long as you don’t end up like Rowan, your future will be brilliant."
"I never thought of becoming the first in line heir."
"If you don’t want it, someone else will seize that position, and Building 3 will be torn down by then, do you want to see that?"
"Of course not, it’s just..." Looking at Chloe in front of him, Alex started to say something but then swallowed his words.
"Then strive for that position."
"I’ll try my best."
"I had lots of fun today."
"Since when did you learn this...?"
"Just now."
"..."
Even ancient martial artists couldn’t learn everything at a glance.
*
Walking towards the Dark City Entrance.
Chloe and Alex saw Caleb and a few others blocking their way.
"What, you all want to gang up on us?"
"Alex, we just want to give you a warning, and you," Caleb’s cold gaze fell on Chloe, "Don’t think you can do anything just because someone is protecting you."
Alex squinted his eyes: "I don’t know who’s doing whatever he wants now."
"In any large family, the one who can speak is always the strong one."
Caleb was very confident in his cultivation.
"Let’s have a round then."
A cold female voice rang out, startling everyone.
Looking at Chloe, they all broke into mocking smiles.
Chloe looked at Alex, her expression indifferent: "If anyone refuses to accept, beat them until they do. Stephens Family, Building 3 is backing you."
Chloe’s words successfully made them laugh.
"Him?" Caleb sneered, "He is pretty good, but last time we fought, I won."
Alex’s gaze became colder: "It was a narrow win."
"As long as I won, that’s good."
Caleb was not afraid of Alex at all.
He was not convinced.
Even if Rowan stepped down, it should be his turn.
It could never be Alex’s turn.
"No time like the present, Dark City has an arena, let’s settle it there."
Chloe walked towards the underground entrance of Dark City.
Now, it was impossible for Caleb to retreat.
He snorted coldly, following behind Chloe: "How shall we fight?"
"Life-and-Death Arena."
Everyone was startled, showing mocking smiles again.
Alex had improved, but Caleb was still better than Alex. Was this idiot eager for Alex to rush to his death?
If that was the case, then he wouldn’t be courteous any longer.
Caleb looked at Alex confidently: "What do you say?"
"Let’s do it Chloe’s way."
"You sure know how to please people. But, whether or not you are able to continue enjoying the resources from Building 3 will depend on your luck."
He had been itching for a chance. Once they got onto the arena, Alex was required to die.
That suited him just fine!
Anthony scoffed: "Alex, you really did pick a good sister!"
Alex ignored their mockery. Even if Chloe didn’t let him onto the arena, he would eventually duel the family descendants.
Now was an opportunity, and he would just go with the flow.
