After Betrayal: Lightning Marriage to Mr. Enigmatic -
Chapter 162: Serves You Right
Chapter 162: Chapter 162: Serves You Right
"How is this a private matter? Sister, you wouldn’t have something shameful to share, would you? That’s why you’re unwilling to speak. Dad is just concerned about you, wanting to know how you two met; is that not okay to say?"
Ella, who had been crying earlier, now wore a smile on her face, acting as if she were exceptionally close to Isabella as sisters, as if the one who had just trampled her flowers wasn’t Isabella.
With a cold expression, Isabella walked over to Ella’s side. Ella felt a bit intimidated by her aura, and without realizing it, she took two steps back.
Only then did she realize how cowardly she appeared!
She immediately stepped forward again, raising her neck as if she were about to spit at Isabella’s face: "What, want to hit someone?"
"Hit someone? That’s something only barbarians do. Why should I hit my sister? I just noticed a dried leaf on your head and wanted to help you take it off."
As Isabella spoke, she reached out to remove the leaf, showing it to Ella.
Ella felt suspicious, as if something didn’t seem quite right.
"Barbarian" Christopher’s face turned ashen, his fingers gripping the glass turned white, teetering on the edge of fury.
But thinking of the Hunter Family, he took a deep breath before speaking again: "How is your relationship with Harry?"
Isabella replied without hesitation: "Very good."
"Why did I hear that you two have no feelings for each other, and Harry married you just to placate his family?"
Isabella’s expression remained unchanged as she calmly asked, "Who said that? How could outsiders know about our marital relationship."
"The Hunters told us at our home; are they outsiders?"
"Regardless if they are or not, I won’t divorce Harry. Give up your idea of using me to trade for money!"
Exposed for his ulterior motives, Christopher’s anger flared again: "Mindless fool, where do you think your luxury comes from? Isn’t it all from me! If the Weaver Family is resented by the Hunters, there won’t be any good days ahead, and if the company collapses, you’ll be out on the streets and possibly starve to death!"
"Luxury? Not talking far, just in the past three years, have you given me a penny? Have you bought me a piece of clothing? I’m one step away from starving to death, yet you say I’m living in luxury?"
Isabella laughed, a laugh as desolate as could be: "Even if I end up on the streets, it’s better than being your daughter. You raised and strictly controlled me only because you thought I might be worth something, and it would be a shame to let me die! Mrs. Parker allows me to live only to torment me and retaliate against my mom!"
She spoke directly of Christopher’s deepest dark thoughts, thoroughly enraging him, prompting him to throw the glass in his hand without thinking.
Isabella tilted her head slightly; the glass brushed past her ear, with a thud, smashed onto Ella’s head behind her.
"Ah!"
Ella fell to the ground responding, holding her head and crying loudly: "My head! It’s killing me!"
She wiped her forehead, looked at it as blood covered her hand, almost fainting: "Blood! So much blood! Mom and Dad, quickly take me to the hospital!"
Rose, in a panic, rushed over to hold her, pale as a ghost: "My precious daughter! How could you be so foolish, standing there when your sister dodged, taking the blow for her! Christopher, quickly call an ambulance, Ella is losing so much blood!"
Ella finally realized what wasn’t right!
Isabella had deliberately approached her, all in anticipation of this moment!
Isabella looked down at the bloodied Ella, mouthing silently: "The glass you arranged, it really came in handy!"
