Chapter 288: FINALLY WITH HER HUSBAND

Their car pulled up in front of the hospital building and Rowan noticed Astrid’s lost gaze and asked.

"Hey, are you okay? You seem a little distracted."

Astrid hesitated, unsure of how much to share. "I just...I miss Julian, I miss him not being here with me," she said finally. "I feel guilty for having fun without him, guess I am only getting aware of how much he means to me when I haven’t been around him for two weeks."

" You have been with him for two weeks," Rowan corrected but she glared at him.

" He hasn’t talked to me in two weeks, I miss his voice.. how he spoils me so much and..." her voice cracked at this.

Rowan’s expression softened, and he reached out to touch her hand.

"Astrid, Julain isn’t weak, he will get well soon, you just have to be patient."

Astrid smiled weakly, nodding her head in acceptance. "Thanks, Rowan," she appreciated again.

"You can talk to me if you feel the heavy weight, I can be here all night for you." Astrid turned to him and smiled.

"You know Julain gets so jealous anytime your name is mentioned, I wonder how he would react learning I went on a date with you when he was unconscious," Rowan laughed at this, she had nothing else to say aside from her husband.

"I pick any little fight with him, I would get so angry, and he would just calm me down," Astrid said, grinning from ear to ear as she kept blushing.

"There was this one time, I got so mad that I thought he was going to leave me. But he didn’t. He just came back and held me until I calmed down."

Rowan listened intently, his eyes sparkling with interest. "That sounds like true love," he said, his voice filled with emotion.

Astrid smiled, feeling a pang of sadness. "It is," she said. "I just wish he was here with me now." Then Astrid turned to him.

"I am not boring you away?" But he shook his head.

"Anytime, Astrid. I am always here for you."

Astrid’s gaze narrowed slightly, sensing something more behind Rowan’s words. "What do you mean?" she asked, getting curious.

Rowan’s smile faltered for a moment before he recovered. "I just mean that if Julian ever...you know, acts stupidly, I’m here for you."

Astrid’s eyes widened, and she shook her head almost immediately.

"You shouldn’t say things like that, Rowan," she warned, her voice low.

"Julian loves me, and I love him. You shouldn’t even think about...whatever it is you’re thinking."

Rowan held up his hands, laughing. "Hey, no offense meant! I just...I care about you, Astrid, and I want you to be happy."

Astrid’s expression softened slightly, but she still felt a lingering sense of unease. "I appreciate that, Rowan. But let’s just focus on being friends, okay?"

Rowan nodded, his smile returning. "Absolutely. Friends it is."

Astrid gave a slight nod and then bid him farewell.

Astrid stepped out of the car and onto the hospital sidewalk, she exhaled a sharp breath.

She was grateful for Rowan’s efforts to take her mind off Julian’s condition, but she knew that her heart belonged to her husband, and she couldn’t wait to see him smile again.

As she walked back to Julian’s room, Astrid rushed toward his bed embracing him.

"I missed you so much." She mumbled releasing him from the embrace and she placed a kiss on his forehead.

She then sat down beside him, taking his hand in hers.

"Hey, baby," she whispered, her voice barely audible. "I’m back. I had a nice time with Rowan, but I am glad to be back with you."

Astrid smiled, feeling a sense of peace wash over her. "We had a lovely time, but I promise you are still the one I love. He only wanted to cheer me up and it’s with the permission of your mum."

Astrid leaned forward, her lips brushing against Julian’s hand that she had held.

"You know Rowan told me he likes me and I can come to him if you ever misbehave." She stared at him but he didn’t react.

"Well, if you don’t wake now I might consider doing it," she let out.

"Guess you are refusing to wake up so you can punish me, you made me get used to you and so dependent then you suddenly left me for two weeks." She mumbled sadly, still gently kissed on his wrist like she recalled something her eyes narrowed and broke into tears she didn’t know she was holding.

"For damn sake open your eyes and talk to me, my heart is empty without you by my side." She rested on his arms, tired.

"I miss going home to meet you there, I miss seeing you with your system working effortlessly. I miss seeing you care about me." Her tears rolled out from her eyes as she rested on his arm.

"But you went out with Rowan,"

"Yeah, I was fixed and I was told it for..." she stopped talking whipping her head up and staring at him but she met his eyes still closed.

" Am I tripping? I just heard a Julain voice.." she whispered to herself she stood up staring at him but there was no movement.

" Julian?" She called still there was no response, she then sighed.

"Guess I am hallucinating now," she let out and sat back down as she wiped off her tears.

Just then she saw his finger twitch and she jumped up from the chair startled, "Ju... Julian.." she stuttered and then swallowed hard.

She was about to click on the button to call for the doctor but was interrupted.

"Don’t call the doctor, call me babe and I will respond." Astrid whipped her head up, she froze staring at his eyes still closed.

"Julain, don’t play with me, that is your voice." She murmured but then she recalled his words.

"Babe," she called and then his eyes fluttered open now staring at her making her stunned.
