Chapter 272: THE PASSES

As Astrid walked from the president’s villa, a warm smile still lingered on her face. The contract she had just signed with Samuel by her side marked the beginning of a new Chapter in her life. She can’t help but be so happy with the trust her grandad and president had given to her.

The guards told to escort her moved in sync behind her, their eyes scanning the surroundings.

Samuel fell into step beside her, their conversation flowing effortlessly as they strolled through the villa’s grounds.

They were both so imposing in their conversation until the sudden appearance of the twins, Maddy and Maddox.

Maddy’s eyes locked onto Astrid, and she strode purposefully toward her, a small smile playing on her lips.

Astrid’s instincts kicked in, and she shifted back, her eyes narrowing slightly, she had already tagged her as one of Mattie’s minions since she also loved Mattie so much.

"I swear mess with me and I won’t let things go easily." Astrid warmed and Maddox scoffed, his eyes rolling heavenward.

"You have changed so much, Astrid," he teased "Is it because you have Julian backing you now?"

Astrid’s gaze flicked to Maddox, her expression serene. "Well Yes, first of all... you only met me thrice for you to know the real me and second for all isn’t the president also your backbone?" she fired back.

Maddy jabbed her twin brother with her elbow, her eyes never leaving Astrid’s face. As Maddox winced, Maddy moved closer to Astrid, her smile growing wider. She reached out, her hands closing around Astrid’s, and Astrid’s eyes widened in surprise.

"I am so sorry, Astrid," Maddy said, her voice filled with sincerity. "I didn’t come here to annoy you today. I came to apologize for my past behavior."

Astrid’s expression softened, her eyes searching Maddy’s face for any sign of insincerity. But all she saw was genuine remorse.

"I am sorry from the bottom of my heart," Maddy continued, her voice trembling. "I was blinded by my jealousy and hatred. I believed Mattie’s lies, and I hurt you because of it."

Maddy’s grip on Astrid hands relaxed, and Astrid snickered, a wry smile twisting her lips. "I have to admit, I am shocked," she said. "The last time I checked, you called me a gold digger."

Maddy’s face flushed, and she looked down, her eyes avoiding Astrid’s. "I was stupid and naive," she muttered. "I had a crush on Julian, and I let my jealousy consume me."

Astrid’s expression turned thoughtful, and she released Maddy’s grip from hers.

"You didn’t offend me, Maddy," she said. "Mattie’s actions were between her and me, you only butted in because she painted me black."

Maddy nodded, hastily, "I still want to apologize. I was wrong to hate you without knowing the truth."

Astrid’s smile grew wider, and she reached out, her hand brushing against Maddy’s. "I accept your apology," she said. "And I am impressed. I didn’t think rich people like you would apologize so quickly."

Maddy laughed, a relieved smile spreading across her face. "I guess we are not all bad," she said.

Maddox stepped forward, his eyes locked onto Astrid’s. "I also have an apology to make," he said, his voice sincere. "I was mad at you because my twin was mad at you. I realize now that was stupid."

Astrid’s smile softened, and she nodded, accepting his apology. As she turned to leave, Maddy’s voice stopped her.

"Astrid, wait," Maddy said, her eyes sparkling with curiosity. "Aren’t you Beth?"

Astrid’s eyes widened, and she spun back to face Maddy. "How did you know?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

Maddy placed a finger on her lips, a mischievous glint in her eye. "I am in the same online classes as you," she whispered. "I have seen your work, and I am amazed at how smart you are."

Astrid’s eyes narrowed, her mind racing. "And how?" she prompted.

Maddy grinned. "As the president’s daughter, I have access to certain... information," she said. "Let’s just say I know more about you than you think."

Astrid’s eyes sparkled with amusement, and she raised an eyebrow. "Is that so?" she said.

Maddy nodded, her smile growing wider. "I’m looking forward to learning from you when I graduate," she said, her eyes shining with admiration.

As Maddy stepped back, Maddox appeared closer to Astrid, a small smile playing on his lips. He handed Astrid two cards, his eyes glinting with mischief.

"I am not good at apologies but hope you would like this. These are VIP passes," he said. "You can use them to get anywhere you want, "or any wish you want. Maddox said, his eyes sparkling with amusement.

"Especially when you are in trouble, we will be there to save you."

Astrid’s eyes widened as she took the cards, staring at the cards."Whatever I want?" she asked and he nodded.

Maddox nodded, his grin growing wider. "Anything, Astrid. Just don’t abuse it."

Astrid smiled and turned to Samuel, who had been watching the exchange with interest. "You can have one," she told him.

But before she could hand one to Samuel, Maddy intercepted her. "No, no, no," she said, his eyes laughing.

"These are for Astrid’s use only."

Samuel chuckled, hearing this he never viewed himself to be so important.

Maddox handed Samuel a separate pass, and Astrid’s eyes met Maddy’s.

"Thanks, Maddy and Maddox," Astrid said, her voice sincere. "I appreciate your apology."

Maddy’s smile softened, her eyes shining with emotion. "I’m just glad we could clear the air, Astrid. Let’s start fresh."

As the group parted ways, Astrid felt a sense of hope rising within her. Maybe, just maybe, she had found unlikely allies in the twins.

As she slid into the car beside Samuel, their car drove off.

Just then Maddox pulled out his phone from his pocket, his finger tapped across his keyboard now placing the phone on his ear.

"Hey, What’s up? It’s done," he said into the phone as Nady gave him a curious look.

"Well, I will find out from her tonight," Maddox nodded his head, waiting for him to talk more.

"Make this be the last time it repays itself, once there is next time I am not promising to let you both be."

"It’s a promise Julian," they both let out at once and Julian just hung up on them.

He had called to warn them when Astrid told him she was coming here and also how she doesn’t want to come across the president’s kids because they always get on her nerves.

Julian couldn’t talent in and had called Maddox immediately, hitting him with a warning and telling him to make sure they apologized to Astrid.
