Accidental Marriage With Mr Billioniare -
Chapter 244: LANDON
Chapter 244: LANDON
Astrid was shifting back, looking backward to see if anyone had noticed the man standing before her, but no one was there to save her, she couldn’t even utter a word.
Her legs felt like jelly, and she was struggling to stay upright. The man squatted down to her level, his eyes locked on hers, and he asked, "Why are you scared of me?"
Astrid’s mind was racing, and she recalled Josh’s words. He told her her father was dead, how come the man someone just claimed to be her father’s now standing before her? She stuttered, asking, "You...you are not dead?"
The man raised an eyebrow and laughed out loud. "Is that what Josh told you?" he asked, his voice dripping with amusement.
Astrid nodded her head, still trying to process what was happening. The man smirked, "Well, I am not... though everyone thinks Landon is dead," he leaned closer to Astrid, having a proud smile on his face.
"So I assume another name," he let out, making Astrid swallow hard.
"Wh... why... are you telling me this? Please stay back," he smirked and did as she told him.
But his next words made Astrid’s blood run cold. "Did you like the gift I got for you?" he asked, as he shifted his gaze inside the funeral home.
Astrid’s eyes widened in horror, hoping it wasn’t what she was thinking. "What gift?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
Landon’s eyes seemed to bore into her soul, and Astrid felt her blood run cold. She tried to take a step back, but her legs wouldn’t move. His words echoed in her head, and she felt like she was going to pass out.
Josh’s words also came flooding back to her, she remembered the fear she had felt when he told her about this man, he was a monster, a killer, and wouldn’t think twice before doing it.
She tried to trace her steps back, but Landon pulled her back, his grip like a vice.
Astrid was terrified, and she could hardly move. He leaned closer to her, his breath hot against her ear.
"You don’t have to be scared of me," he whispered. "I have got your back, my little angel. If anyone messes with you, I will take revenge. I will make them pay twice as much."
Astrid’s heart was racing, and she felt like she was going to throw up. He patted her hair gently as she felt her breath stuck in her throat again.
He turned to leave but then stopped on his track. "We can’t have much conversation now," he said. "Julian will be back soon. But I will reach out to you soon, Astrid."
With that, he left, leaving Astrid on the ground in shock. Her hands were trembling with fear, and she felt like she was going to collapse.
Just then, Larry appeared with the car, and he rushed toward her, asking, "Ma’am, what’s wrong? Why are you on the ground?"
"Stay back!" Astrid shifted back, telling him not to touch her. She was terrified, and she didn’t know what to do. The fact that she had finally known her biological father, but he was a monster is what is making her speechless.
Julian walked out of the funeral home, and the moment he saw Astrid on the ground, he sprinted towards her.
"Astrid, what’s wrong?" he asked, his voice filled with concern. "Why are you on the floor?"
Astrid didn’t respond. She was still in shock, and she couldn’t process what had just happened. Julian tried to pick her up, but she pushed him away.
Just then, a car pulled up, and Landon wind down the car window, his eye locking with that of Astrid. He smiled at Astrid, and then placed his finger on his lips, winking along with it, before anyone could look his way his car drove off.
Astrid’s mind swirled with different thoughts, and she couldn’t shake off the feeling of fear. Landon words
kept repeating in her head, and she felt like she was trapped in a nightmare. Finding out that truly her father had killed Josh, was not on her bucket list at all
Julian finally managed to pick her up, taking her into the car. He tried to calm her down, but she was still in shock. She didn’t speak, and Julian was getting worried.
He immediately texted Ryan to get the CCTV footage of the parking lot, so they could know what exactly had transpired.
As they drove away, Astrid’s eyes were fixed on the window, her mind still spinning from the encounter with Landon.
As they arrived home, Astrid still refused to talk, and Julian helped her inside.
She went to her room, but Julian received a message that the footage had been cleared, making him more serious about what exactly must have happened to his wife.
He also stormed into Astrid’s room, and threw questions immediately,
"What the fuck did you see, Love? You’re this shaken, your hands are shivering." His voice held worries as he sat behind her on the bed.
Astrid placed her hands on Julian’s, wanting to talk, but she recalled how dangerous the man could be. She didn’t want Julian to get involved.
"I was just still shaken by the fact that Josh committed suicide," she said finally, trying to brush it off.
Julian breathed out in relief. "You shouldn’t be scared, I will sort things out," he said, trying to reassure her.
Astrid glanced at him and smiled, she snuggled deepest into his arms as she closed her eyes.
"You wouldn’t leave me for anyone right?" she asked, and Julain let out a rumbling sound hearing this.
"Of course not my love, whatever battle ahead, we are fighting them together."
********
Landon’s car pulled up in front of Mattie’s house with a deadly smirk.
He alighted from the car and was making his way inside when someone dragged him back.
His men were on alert immediately, but Landon was quick to stop them before they could hurt the person.
He squinted his gaze as he stared at the culprit, "Welcome back Maren." he called out but Maren wasn’t smiling back at him.
"What are you doing here?" she asked, her voice shaking. "I thought you promised to go into hiding forever. What do you want from Astrid? Why were you that close to her?
Maren had also come to the funeral to pay her respect when she saw Landon talking to Astrid, she was so curious that she followed Landon’s car immediately as he drove off wondering where he was going.
Landon smiled, grabbing Maren’s neck. "It’s enough that you didn’t use my last name and have taken every single thing related to your family off the chart. If you get in my way, I won’t hesitate to teach you a lesson."
ButvMaren wasn’t terrified a bit, she stood in front of him, her eyes burning in rage. "I won’t let you hurt Mattie," she warned, "You’ve hurt everyone enough."
Landon pulled out his pistol instantly, not ready to reason with her, pointing it at Maren. "Get out of my way, or you make me regret my choice," he sneered.
Maren cried out, shaking her head. She fell to her knees, pleading with him. "I want to hurt Mattie too, but I can’t. She’s already suffering from Astrid’s hands. I can’t watch you hurt her. Just let her be, Dad." she pleaded.
Landon rushed towards her, grabbing her chin. "If you don’t care for your sister, then I fucking do and I would mess up anyone that hurt her."
Maren was left speechless, whispering the word "Sister?" She asked, "What are you talking about?" but Landon didn’t respond, instead, he pushed past her, about to go inside, and Maren quickly pulled him back.
"Never! I won’t watch you, someone else dad!" she cried out. Just as she did, the sound of a gunshot echoed through the premises, leaving everyone standing still.
