Chapter 220: THIER LAUGHTER

Chapter 220: THIER LAUGHTER

As the night fell, Astrid sat in the garden, her phone pressed to her ear as she chatted with her grandfather.

She had called him earlier to explain that she wouldn’t be able to make it to work, and now he was checking in to see how she was doing.

"I am fine, Granddad," Astrid reassured him. "I am just dealing with some personal stuff right now."

Her grandfather’s voice was warm and concerned on the other end of the line. "I saw that picture of Julian online, Astrid. I was worried sick about you. Are you sure you’re okay? He didn’t hurt you again, did he?"

Astrid laughed, feeling a bit embarrassed. "Yes, Granddad, I’m fine. Julian was just...being Julian."

Her grandfather chuckled. "Well, just be careful, okay? I don’t want anything to happen to you."

Astrid smiled, feeling grateful for her grandfather’s concern. "I will, Granddad. Don’t worry about me."

As she hung up the phone, she took a deep breath. She was glad to be away from the drama of the day, and she was enjoying the peaceful atmosphere of the garden.

She proceeded with her sketch of the mansion’s layout, losing herself in the gentle scratch of the pencil on paper.

The sound was soothing, and Astrid felt her tension begin to ease, her brain hadn’t been at peace since she walked into the Logan mansion until now.

Just as she was getting into it, one of the maids came forward with a blanket. "Young Miss, ma’am told me to bring this to you," the maid said with a gentle smile. "She didn’t want you to catch a cold."

Astrid shook her head, feeling a bit embarrassed. "I am fine. Thank you, though."

But just as she spoke, a sneeze escaped her lips, "Stop being stubborn," Julian asserted as he appeared out of nowhere, taking the blanket from the maid.

"Here, let me," he said, his eyes locked onto Astrid’s as the maid bowed and left.

As he wrapped the blanket around her shoulders, Astrid was comfortable, she couldn’t help but agree with his words, about her being stubborn.

Julian moved to sit in front of her, his eyes scanning the book in her lap. "You are quite the artist," he affirmed, stunned by her creation.

But Astrid didn’t respond, focusing solely on her drawing. She was still mad at Julian, and she wasn’t ready to forgive him yet, despite his kneeling hours.

Julian’s eyes bore into her face which she had refused to raise, "We didn’t finish discussing the previous offer, the contract has been sent to your email" he said, his voice insistent.

Astrid ignored him, her pencil moving swiftly across the paper.

Julian sighed, his eyes narrowing slightly. "Astrid, please talk to me."

But Astrid just kept drawing, her silence a clear indication that she was still mad at him.

Julian’s eyes glinted with amusement, and he reached for the bottle of orange juice he had brought with him and placed it on the small table in front of her.

"I brought this for you," he announced "But I will only give it to you if you talk to me."

Astrid’s eyes narrowed, feeling a bit challenged, she could swear they didn’t have one in the Logan mansion when she was eating.

Guess he had gone and helped her get new ones, she reached for the bottle, but Julian shifted it backward, his eyes sparkling with mischief.

"Hey, that’s not fair," Astrid said, her voice rising in annoyance.

Julian just grinned, his eyes glinting with amusement. "If you want it, you will have to talk to me," he said, his voice low and smooth.

Astrid rolled her eyes, feeling a bit frustrated. "Julian, stop being childish," she argued.

But Julian just chuckled, his eyes sparkling with amusement. "Oh, I am just getting started," he teased her.

As he spoke, he reached for the pencil in Astrid’s hand, and she felt a surge of annoyance. "Hey, give that back!" she exclaimed, trying to grab the pencil from him.

But Julian just held it out of her reach, his eyes sparkling with amusement. "If you want it, come and get it," he said, his voice low and smooth.

Astrid’s eyes narrowed, she stood up, her heart pounding in her chest, and reached for the pencil. But Julian just held it higher, his eyes glinting with mischief.

Astrid tiptoed, trying to reach the pencil, but Julian just held it out of her reach.

She kept hopping, trying to get it, but Julian just laughed, his eyes sparkling with amusement.

Just as she was about to give up, Astrid’s foot slipped, and she felt herself falling. But before she could hit the ground, Julian grabbed her, pulling her into his chest.

For a moment, they just stared at each other, the tension between them palpable. Astrid’s heart was thumping in her chest, and she could feel Julian’s warm breath on her skin.

But then, Astrid’s eyes locked onto Julian’s lips, and she felt a ripple of desire. She smirked, feeling a bit mischievous, leaning closer, Julain eyes closed already expecting a kiss.

She stared at him and smirked at this as she reached for the bottle of orange juice that had fallen from Julian’s hands.

She snatched both the pencil and the orange juice, "I won!" Astrid yelled.

"That is cheating! Give it back to me!" She stuck out her tongue at him, feeling a bit playful, and then turned to run around the garden, the bottle of orange juice clutched tightly in her hand.

Julian chased after her, laughing, and the two of them ran around the garden, their footsteps echoing through the night air.

Becky and her husband watched from the window, smiling at the sight of their son and daughter-in-law playing together like children.

"I am glad to see them getting along," Becky said, her eyes shining with happiness.

Her husband nodded, his eyes twinkling with amusement. "Yes, it’s been a long time since we’ve seen Julian laugh like that."

As they watched, Astrid and Julian ran past the window, laughing and chasing each other. The sound of their laughter filled the night air, and Becky and her husband couldn’t help but smile.

"I hope they decided to fight for their love," Desmond announced.
